A lot of renovations going on
Despite the renovations the actual course and greens were in great shape.
Edgemont CC
Great course with a challenging layout. Greens are awesome. Course is a little rough ..... grass in fairways is thin as are the tees. Can't wait to play it next year under better conditions.
Very enjoyable round in perfect weather
Enjoyed the round and pace of play. Many trees have been removed since I've last played here a few years ago so a few of the holes have quite a different look.
The fairways are starting to show some bare spots
The fairways are the only reason for not five stars. But this is a trend for golf courses in this area. First very wet June, then hot temps with little or no rain for over the last month or so
Nice Changes
Course was in good condition, greens rolled well. They took out a bunch of trees leaving some great views. Course is very scenic and worth the money. Unless you are a long hitter, 260+ drives, I suggest white tees on back nine.
Terrible Playing Shape
I was excited to play this private course, but come to find out it is in bankruptcy proceedings. I have not played on a course in worse shape in my life. Strongly discourage you from checking this place out.
Decent option if looking to try something new
Played at Edgemont on a Friday afternoon. Chose this course due to location, and limited other options at the time we wanted to play. I'm glad we did. Overall the course is nice, relatively open layout, but interesting enough. Maintenance was only so-so. Not what you would expect from a private club. Service was non existent. The guy at the pro shop was friendly, but it took forever to get a cart, and no attempt was made to "welcome" us or tell us anything about the course. The course was enjoyable, but I would play Broad Run or Glen Mills over this anyday if they were available.
Great day on the links
The staff was very polite and helpful. The course was wide open, only taking 4 hrs to play on a Friday afternoon.
The course has a great layout, with the front nine being a little rougher (less manicured) than the back. The greens were excellent, but the fairways were rough.
Overall, I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a rural environment, a good quality layout, and a challenging round.
Disappointed
So many private clubs have been forced to allow daily fee play (at varying degrees) as memberhip has dropped. I've played many in the area that have made this adjustment and I had always wanted to play the private Edgmont CC. I jumped at the chance to play when it showed up on GolfNow for $65. After visiting the pro shop and locker room all I could hope for is that the course would show better. As I stepped to the third tee it was clear that the course, just like the pro shop and locker room, is sadly being neglected. I'm sure this was once a great course but not today. As I struggled to discern my ball from the mushrooms in the fairway I was thankful that I hadn't paid the $125 greens fee to play earlier in the day.
The course can be challenging
I expected more from a private country club. Course ball cleaners poor, course needs maintenance, poorly groomed around the bunkers, some fairways have additional growth and divers not repaired, greens were extremely soft, was if they had been watered over and over again causing divers and when ball landed..
Course design great and when playing from blues it can be challenging. Beautiful setting just needs some TLC. Staff great.
Great in its day.
This is a great layout that has not been care of. Many bare spots in the fairy and greens. This is overpriced for the current condition of the course.
Sledgemont
Not in good shape. Not worth the money. Can't believe this is a private club people pay to belong to.
Good Course, Needs Better Pricing
Edgmont is a moderately length course, but has a very nice layout. A fair amount of dog legs and straight forward fairways with some very challenging greens that could be better maintained.
About Averg
First time playing Edgemont. Very scenic but course condition not up to what I would expect from a private club. The fairways were ok at best. The greens were horribly slow. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
beautiful course
very scenic course, greens are well kept, not rushed to play. I thought I had booked to play alone but was forced to pair up. My companion was nice enough but I really wanted to play alone to practice.
Much better
Big improvement since the last time I played. Bunkers and fairways were maintained.Greens were very slow and sometimes mysterious. Bring your heaviest putter.
5/25/2015
Played here on Memorial day. Paid 50 dollars on the golf now app compared to the normal 125. I feel like i would have been extremely disappointed if i paid the full 125. Other than that the course was pretty challenging and had some nice views. Only other complaint was that there was no place to buy food/drinks which was odd since it was a holiday weekend. Over all it was a decent course and a beautiful day.
Horrible experience
It suppose to be a private club, we paid $50 to play on it.
The fairways/toughs were not cut and it was over grown. The greens were beat down and not well maintained. The Yard Markers were way off. Some Tee boxes were in bad shape and were not even flat.
There was no water on the course to drink. The ball cleaning/brushing devices didn't have water.
They should only be charging $15 to play on course instead of $50 and should embarrassed to call this place a private club.
There are so many public clubs in the area are half the price and in much better condition.
Never going back. This makes Golf Now look bad. I want my money back.
Great Time
Had a chance to play this course, paired up with 3 other guys all of which were great players. Even thought that I was not up to par with them they did not mind. The course was in great shape, greens were excellent. Just goes too show you that when you are a single, you will always find a great foursome. I like the idea of getting tee times on a last minute notice, it will make your golf experience even better.
Troubled course
This is private but it offers public tee times every now and then. It's sad Bc you can tell this used to be a solid second-tier private course. It barely holds up to public courses now.
Maybe they have plans to remove branches that obstruct tee boxes and spruce things up. I will say the greens were impeccable, impressive for a Nov day. Until then, not really worth the trip.
