Two long par 4s (15 & 16) make for a meaty finish. Photo submitted by BrandonTuckerGA on 06/12/2017
Greens are so much better now!!
Well done riverside team, hoping the greens stay this way.
solid Austin muni
nice track in good shape. not very long, 6300 yds from back tees, but enjoyable. traps and greens maintained. weekend pace was sloooow, so be prepared and patient.
Surprisingly good
Greens were slow but poa annua minimal. Areas around the green often minimal grass and hard turf - made chipping difficult. Overall, a classic tract with no bells or who. No driving range (only a net). For the price, reasonable opportunity.
Couse was in good condition
Course was in good condition, greens were fast and a little thin but getting better. Fairways looked good and bunkers were prestine.
Fun track
Always a fun and simple local course, best bang for your buck. Easy enough, while still providing some challenge and game to keep you intrigued
Greens
For tyhe most part the greens were good but we did have around 3 greens that were in pretty rough shape.
Riverside
Typical muni layout. Friendly and professional staff. Some very challenging holes. Very few water hazards, but some carry. Very open and would play much tougher on a windy day. Greens were impacted by recent deep frost and bunkers need some loving care. On either a post-rainy, or a rainy, day several of the holes would play very wet. Very walkable. Close to the airport, so it was ideal for me as I had to return to the airport to pick up family. Definitely would play it again, if I would return in the future to the area.
A Little Scruffy
I was visiting Austin and played Lagos (really bad) and Avery Ridge (decent but overpriced). Riverside is between those two. Some standing water which seemed odd considering how dry the rest of the course was. Crowded even though it wasn’t a particularly nice day. Supply of good quality golf courses in Austin appears to be exceeded by demand
Run of the Mill
Relatively unremarkable layout. The vast majority of holes are straight - very few doglegs, virtually zero water features, a handful of haphazardly scattered bunkers. The course is in average condition, but the most challenging part of the afternoon was finding a decent patch of grass to hit the ball off of rather than any difficulty arising from well placed hazards or challenging course layout.
That said, pace of play was great and greens fees are cheap. Carts work great. You could do worse for the money.
Not bad. Just too expensive.
The course layout is decent, it’s a straight forward layout with mostly easy holes (even though I couldn’t find a fairway or GIR all day). The greens, fairways and tee boxes could use some work, but not horrible and may be better in the spring/summer. The grill delivers food to your cart on the course which is awesome and the burger I got was great. Staff is very friendly. Overall, it’s a decent course but for $55 I think it’s too expensive. I wouldn’t pay more that $30 under the current conditions.
Nice course
Had a day in Austin for a round of golf and was able to play Riverside. It’s an average course in the heart of the city. We enjoyed our round and were able to play at a good pace.
Worst Course in TX!
If I could have given this course 0 stars I would have. Idk how anyone would give this course a rating higher than 1 star. I usually don’t leave reviews either but this course is in terrible shape. It hadn’t rained in over a week and you would of thought it rained for days. Standing water everywhere and the fairways and greens were MUDDY! It’s also the kind of mud that sticks to everything. Every single hole you will walk back to the cart with shoes covered in mud. The conditions were just awful. The fact that they charge anything for this course is a joke. This course should be closed.
Don’t play this course. I wouldn’t even pay $1 to play this course ever again!
