Fix your greens
Great layout and great course when in good condition. Was in terrible conditions when we played. Every green had crabgrass and or fungus. The course also needs water on the fairways. Hate to lose this course but if it is not fixed I will certainly not be back.
Different
Check in and cart guy were friendly, but upon leaving the lady behind the counter could not even offer a hello. 2nd time that I have played there that some guy was blaring his music player on his cart. Two gentlemen asked him to turn it down and he would not. Wow!
good course
great variety of holes and shots, greens good, pace of play[ by myself] 2 1/2 hrs included looking for a couple stray shots
Worth the drive
The course was recommended to me by someone playing another course. Having made the trip out it was with the trip. Great views, great scenery. Course was in really good shape but as stated in some reviews I had read some greens need work as they have lost pRt of them, having said that they were receptive on iron shots, fairways smooth and easy to hit off. All in all a trip worth taking. Will be back again
Great course!
Great greens, friendly staff and good for long drives.
Greens Fairways tees
The greens were great and putted fairly, fairways were excellant, tee were hard need water.
Very good course; very nice staff
Course was in very good shape considering the hot weather and lack of rain this time of year. Staff very helpful. I'd recommend a grill be added for hamburgers, etc. at some point.
Worth the visit though.
Nice tract -- makes you want to buy a house with the lake on one side and the course on the other.
We really liked this course and will certainly be back. For the Burnet - Marble Falls - Kingsland area, it's definitely one you need to play.
The driving range and putting green were both quite ample.
The grass was cut very nice on tee boxes, fairways, first cut rough, and greens. However, there were some dried out spots on several tee boxes, fairways, and greens. Then again, it's the middle of August and the central Texas drought continues. So I can't really blame them.
There are just a few spots where water can get you. The course has a good amount of fairway and greenside bunkers -- mostly puzzle piece shaped with decent lips to get over. I did find that several of these bunkers had too many rocks in them; some larger than golf balls. So be careful.
You actually end up back by the club house after #6 in case that's useful. You then get back at the normal turn of #9. There was also one restroom located on the back 9 between 14 & 15.
There were plenty of water jugs on the course. They were a little smaller than the normal ones I'm used to seeing. And on this hot day, most were running out of water. Seeing as how we were one of maybe three groups on the course this afternoon, they may not have filled these up enough. We'll let it slide today ... but I'll talk to the clubhouse staff if it happens on our next visit. No worries.
And finally, #13 has a greenside bunker with a good sized oak tree in the middle -- probably the first time I've seen anything like that. Interesting to say the least.
Legends on Lake LBJ
Very friendly & eager to please staff. Played on Sunday afternoon & pace of play was ideal for foursome of moderate ability. Great value. Greens slower than normal but recent (& RARE) July rains contributed. Wide landing areas.
Great for the $
The course was little rough around the edges. However, issues were actively being addressed. Great course for the money. I'd play it again.
Great views of the Lake
Fairly challenging course. Helps if you are a long hitter. The course is in very good shape and fairly open fairways. Lot of fairway sand traps so be mindful of that. Good value for the $$$. Would play it again.
Potential
Greens are not in very good shape. Layout is awesome, but then you get to the greens. Lotta weeds on greens. Even with golfnow prices, it's too pricey for the condition of the course.
Best in Hill Country
This Tom Kite design has stood the test of time and has changed ownership a few times; most recently in April of this year. The maintenance crew is working extremely hard to got the course in tip-top shape. Since the new owner took over I would say the greens have gone from a 4 to a 7, the fairways have gone from a 7 to a 9, and the proshop from a 2 to a 10. Extremely friendly staff, head pro Ronna Wilson is very accomodating, and guest service staff member Tyler Davis went completely out of his way to make sure our round was the best it could be. I would recommend this track to anyone and everyone.
Great holes along the lake
Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Although it was very windy, the course played fair. The course was in very good shape
WOW
This is a beautiful course. The views, the fairways, the greens, the layout. Everything you would expect from a resort course or a high dollar private country club, at an affordable rate. Wish I had brought my A game that day, as I struggled to control my driver, but that wasn't courses fault. Course is challenging, but very playable. Definitely going back, with my A game.
Best value for public course in Central Texas
Extremely well-care-for track. Best kept secret in the area. Unlike overpriced tracks in or closer to Austin, this one is a joy to play. Challenging greens and beautiful backdrop.
Nice Course
This is a very good hill country course. Layout is excellent. It has recently changed ownership and weather has been dry so greens are a bit rough, but I expect they will improve now.
Nice course - nice views
This course was a blast, take the time for the history lesson at each tee box. Everything for the rivers to the Native American history.
Fun trek and green were nice!
Beautiful courrse
Golfnow hot deal was awesome. The course was in pretty good shape. Some greens had issues, but overall the course was in good shape. Travelled 1hour and 30 minutes just to play this course. Was well worth the travel and the price.
This Course - A MUST TO GOLF!
Great layout, first six holes play more links style with lots of sand, fairways dormant but good grass, greens were great - only noticed two a bit rough. Was a pleasure to golf and will definitely go back for another round.
