Potential
Let me start off by saying we played on the 4th of July . . . Our round took over 5 hours, and we never say anybody making any effort to keep the pace of play up. But, again, 4th of July. Other than that, this course has so much going for it. Some really beautiful holes, great fairways and tee boxes, and excellent staff. Practice facilities were in good condition. The sand bunkers had good soft sand. The biggest disappointment was the greens. Some were a little sandy, but a few of them had huge patches in the middle of them that looked like they had planted fairway grass in the middle of the green, maybe for some sort of repair job. Whatever the reason, i had to putt through the jungle more than once. With just a little more work this could be a 5 star course, but for now its still a very playable and affordable 4 star course.
1st Time to Play
Thought no cart in parking lot policy a little strange. No curb side drop off service for clubs. Course very nice condition, greens rolled true but could have played a little faster. Prefer to play fast greens. Plenty of sand, otherwise not o difficult. Enjoyed the round and would consider going back if good deal was available on golfnow.com
Beautiful golf course
Wow !!! What a beautiful course. The fairways were excellent and the greens were well-maintained and rolling. The scenery was spectacular. There were some tight holes and challenges for all. We will definitely be back.
Good course for the money
The course has some great views and challenging holes, I will be playing there again in the future
Nice condition, fast pace, challenging
Nice views, lots of sand, course was in great condition. My kid rode with me and my brothers wife rode with him but didn't play. Charged us $10 extra , which is the norm at most courses
The views alone are reason to play this course.
During the early afternoon no wait time. Played in less than 3 hours. Some beautiful holes. Great bunkers.
Really nice course
We had booked a tee time through Golfnow for 1:00pm 4-21-13. We did not know if our fourth player would make the trip so we booked for 3. When we knew the fourth would show we called Legends to see if they could add the fourth, they had booked the tee time during a tournament. They moved the tee time to 11:45 am and used the same discount that we had got for the 1:00pm tee time which was $23 instead of the $45 11:45 am fee. Great people, super nice course, good deal for the money even if yoy have to pay full price.
Hail damaged, but playable. Soon to be great again.
This is a beautiful hill country golf course that is unique in design and fun to play. Unfortunately, it has suffered extensive damage from the recent hail storm in the area. The staff has done a great job in getting the course playable, but the greens are still a little bumpy and not unlike greens that have been recently aerated and sanded. The bunkers (which are numerous) are basically unplayable now, but if you allow rolling the ball, you'll be fine. The fairways and tees look fine , but there are still some hail divots that will cause you to have to reposition your ball occasionally. All in all, it was still a very enjoyable round, and I will definitely look forward to playing here again and feel sure that with the continued attention by the greenskeeper staff, the condition of the course will be first class in no time.
The proshop and snackbar staff are super friendly and engaging. Good hot dogs and sandwiches reasonably priced.
If you're a purist and insist on playing it as it lies, you may want to wait a month or so before playing this course to avoid the frustration of frequent bad lies, but if you are able to allow for rolling the ball, you'll have a very enjoyable round here.
Too hilly for a senior with carts on path only
Some of the poor quality was due to a recent thunderstorm that produced large hail. All the sand traps were washed out and flooding debris was all over the course. IMO, it should not have been playable until the repairs were made. There was no roll on the ball because flooding debris was always there to stop the ball. With carts on the path only, it was difficult because of large berms. I think at least 90 degree rule should have been in effect since we didn't encounter any standing water except in the sand traps. I will never play the course again
I enjoyed the course and it is well maintained.
I enjoyed the course and it is well maintained. The pace of play is usually very good.
not worth the money/ staff rude
played many times used to be a hidden gem. Last 3 time bad condition. I called a tee time, bringing my tournament manager up .. I asked the guy,Jason, specifically are your greens good..got told"we are in great shape." Showed up after an hour drive...checked in and the counter guy hands me my range balls and says"you need em more than me." Really? What a clown. Course fairways were sparse, and hard. The real deal was the greens, completely un-puttable, bumpy, sandy. . The back 9 was even worse!
Great course. Friendly, helpful staff.
The course was in great shape for the winter conditions. I enjoyed the links front nine and hill country back nine. There was lots of sand and water.
Course is in great shape. Fast greens!
Greens were in excellent shape. Fairways good considering they are still dormant from winter. Great value for the golf dollar!
Course is great!
This was my first time to play The Legends at LBJ, but it definitely won't be the last! The course is in great shape, and the greens seemed very true. There are some challenging holes, but overall it is a very managebale course for any level of golfer.
Very good course in excellent condition, country club quality
I have played Legends a dozen times or so over the past couple of years, and the quality of the experience continues to improve. In the Austin area courses on Golf Now, I would rank it behind only Wolfdancer and Avery Ranch in terms of the quality of the course. Excellent condition, good blend of par 3 lenghts, and a good mix of open holes and tight driving holes. Highly recommend.
enjoyed it
nice course, nice greens, fairways in good condition
Definitely worth the Play!
Legends recently became available on the App and where it used to be considered "Pricey" it is now more accessible. The course has a wide open look to it however there are alot of rolling mounds all over the place that will challenge you. The course at times will look like St.Andrews (links style), and then turn a corner and there will be a Mighty Texas Oak tree to remind you where you are! The greens are Impeccable and roll very true at about an average 8-9 on the stimp. Starter shack with drinks and snacks available but no restaurant/grill. Pro shop and driving range on premises
Plays long, lots of sand, wide fairways, dormant greens.
The dormant greens are PERFECT, fast and tricky.
Folks running the place were great.
Really a good experience, no gripes, I do wish they had pin placement sheets on the carts, but they did not.
fun course
i think this is a fun course. it was very challeging for a person just starting out.
