Great Golf Now Deal and course.
Golf Now comes through again. Played the course for 33%off regular price. All 3 courses are very nice and fair for golfers of all abilities.
Great for the Money
Overall very satisfied with the course. Awesome layout and great scenery. Not bad for 60 bucks
From tee to green the course was not in great shape. A lot of the greens look like they are burnt out. It’s impossible to get food here. Can’t even grab a hot dog at the turn because it’s a 30 minute wait for anything. The restaurant closes at 4:30 which is weird considering it was a Saturday. We did not enjoy ourselves playing this course at all.
Not Bad
Lots of wildlife course is an actually good better shape than the reviews say it was. Compared to the other two it’s not as good but it’s still not bad. Great layout couple of the greens were a little funky but all in all great time race course too bad it’s getting torn down.
Great layout, needs an uptick in maintenance
My gal and i had a great time and payed a great price for the Oleander Course. The pace of play on this course is great, the layout is a little narrow for some. Sadly, the maintenance levels are the lowest of the 3 courses, tee boxes are not fed and sprayed as needed, and some of the greens have bad grasses growing in on them due to a lack of a constant spray schedule. But for the escalating price of golf courses in this area, the deal was good.
Love it, but it’s soon to be demolished!
Have traveled to played here for the past 35 years… love the place! September has been an extremely wet month on Jekyll .. and since some of Oleander is below sea level the course was extremely wet! No Carts have been allowed on it recently, even the grounds crew have been unable to mow about 40% of the holes! It had not rained in 4 days, We walked it and it was the wettest course I have ever played! We still greatly enjoyed it! This course is to be demolished for development in 2023 (which is extremely Sad). I just hope that fact doesn’t hinder them from maintaining it until then! If you want to be surrounded by nature, lakes, and the ocean like 1000 yards away then go play Oleander before it’s too late!
Wet
Course was wet from start to finish, cart path only (but no warning from golf shop staff before teeing off). Fairways were unkept, bunkers full of water, greens bumpy and slow. Overall a miserable experience. Last rain was on Sunday, not sure how it was so wet. I think what really bothered me the most was the course was cart path only but pro shop staff didn't say a word about course conditions. Only saving grace was the discount from Golf now but it should have been about a $25 round, glad I didn't pay full price.
The staff at the pro shop was very rude due to the fact that we had booked our tee time with Golf Now. He was rude enough for me to send an immediate email to the contact us to the course!
This course could be premium but needs a lot of TLC - needs mowing and matured!
Great layout
Very nice layout with many different shots required. Greens were medium speed but nice. Fairway grass was a little long. Restaurant was great.
No Carts, Walk and carry, Terrible condition
We knew going there that there were no power carts allowed on Oleander. They were all being used on the other 2 courses for a tournament. Didn’t expect no pull carts either. All being used again for the tournament. So my wife and I walked and carried.
First tee following a single. 4 practice swings, stretches and 3 breakfast balls. You know the Fowler commercial where the guy asks to play through? This is him. Followed him painfully for 5 holes and finally played through him on 6. He was holding up the golf course as a single! Never seen that before. No Marshall on the course. Likely all on the other 2 courses. We quit after 9 holes as continuing to carry on this course wasn’t worth it. Go to Tortuga Jacks patio on the island for a drink or some great Mexican food. Saved the day for us.
Course layout was quite good. Some nice holes. The course conditions were terrible. Rained hard 5 days ago. Course still wet. No drainage I guess.
Fairways were a mix of weeds, mud and some grass.
Greens were okay. Bunkers awful. Tee boxes worn out and patchy.
Go play Sanctuary Cove, King and Prince, Sea Palms instead of this. Brunswick too but it’s private.
Really disappointing for Jekyll Island. Looks like a tournament facility; not interested in walk up play. Maybe the other 2 are better but I have heard from others they are not. Coming back for 2 months next year but won’t be playing on Jekyll unless I hear of vast improvements.
Cheers, Carsce
wet
First, the entire course was wet and they had cart path only on every hole. This we were not informed of and I have disability that makes walking short distances a challenge and painful. I went back into the clubhouse when we were about to tee off and asked to have GPS on my cart turned off. At first the lady behind the desk asked what my cart number to turn it off when another man behind the counter said if your playing Oleander its cart path only--he never looked at me as he was I assume helping someone else. Very short and when I said I have a disability, only to be told "Oleander course is cart path only! Instead of saying (there were two more courses across the street that they manage also) we can help you, let us see what we can do, they brushed me off. Right at this moment I am still in my bed from the pain of walking so much yesterday.
I have no desire to come back as not only was the entire course extremely wet they hadn't cut the grass on the tee boxes or fairways. I understand mowing couldn't be done because being so wet, what I don't understand is why they were allowing people to play and not closing the course? Iam sure MONEY was the big issue, but people drive a good distance to play there (We drove an hour and half to play there) and don't except to be treated like we were. I am totally disappointed how I was treated and the course conditions, what a waste of time and money!
I tried to find something positive about the course...
My husband and I played the course. We were NOT informed that it was cart path only prior to the start of the round, otherwise we would not have played. We arrived to the first tee and the GPS on the cart said "Cart Path Only". It was that way for the other 17 holes. The condition of the fairway, tee boxes and greens are in serious need of reconditioning. There are very few ball washers throughout the course. No started on Number 1, Two groups attempted to but in front of us at the turn. One of the groups passed on starting the back night. Never a good sign when there are 4 groups on one hole. In addition tot he cost of the round of golf there is a charge to get onto Jekyll Island of $8.00 per car. On the plus side, it was scenic but....
