Mountain course
Played the Black/White combo tees (6477/71.7/131) with Tom, Dennis and Collin in slightly over 4H. The weather was clear and calm around 95.
Pete Dye design with numerous mounds, massive waste bunkers and many raised greens. Holes 13-17 are as good a consecutive 5 hole stretch as you will find on almost any course.
The tees were a hodgepodge. Many were lush and near immaculate. However, a few were in mediocre condition. The par 3's had a decent amount of divot damage.
The fairways were mostly lush and nice to play from.
The rough around the greens that they over seed was lush and thick. The Bermuda primary rough had good coverage and was mowed down, you could easily find your ball. However, you hope the primary rough catches any offline shots, because the native rough here is an almost sure lost ball, calf to knee deep.
The traps were nicely maintained with fine sand. Other than large waste bunkers, most of the sand traps here are relatively small but there are a lot of them.
The small Bermuda greens were medium fast speed, firm and smooth with few ball marks.
The customer service was excellent from all encountered. Cart gal around numerous times. Overall, this is a challenging layout and the conditions were very good overall. Recommended.
Good layout but the greens were slow and in rough shape.
Terrible Greens
Played here a few times before. Starter said greens were very fast. Got on course and greens were slow and in terrible condition. Sprinklers were coming on the entire day soaking the areas around us. Overall course condition was not good. Won’t be back for a couple years.
Beautiful, challenging but not punitive
One of the coolest back nines I've played. holes wander through foothills with nobody else nearby and view of the Coachella Valley. Course has more rough that is playable than most desert courses, so it's playable if you're a mid handicapper. Lots of undulations and level changes. Greens were especially hard and bumpy when we played. Clubhouse and staff were great. I'd put this on your list!
Tough Greens
Always have loved this course, but the new greens are as hard as cement.
Course under repair
I love this course, but the rains last year did major damage to the course. They are still getting it bacck in shape. If you played here in the past, 2024 might not live up to your expectations. But it will be back!
Some work to be done
check in and cart personal very friendly
practice range has been irons only for quite a while
practice chip and putt area marginal
starter was a bit salty
marshal was very friendly
it was a beautiful day
Beautiful course, but typical Dye confusion on front nine
The course was beautiful, with the typical Pete Dye confusion on the front nine. First timers should be warned to get a yardage book, as the front nine has craters and bumps that conceal the correct way to play it.
Fairways were perfect, but the greens were ugly and spotty, not up to the same expected standard.
Pace of play in back is an issue
Beautiful surroundings, new greens very hard to hold approach shots. We were doing great pace wise then ground to a halt on #10.
