Hard to give an positive review when the temp was 52 F and raining and we were forced to quit after 9 holes. I will say that the course layout was nice and challenging enough after all Pete Dye not known for easy layouts. The conditions were less than stellar again likely due to all the rain they have had - greens were slow and and tee boxes a little rough. The big thing was the golf carts were not suited at all to be out in the rain - no windshields and no rear club cover to keep your clubs dry so by 7th hole we were completely soaked and freezing and we are from Canada eh' so cold usually not a big deal! Again to be fair the weather played a huge factor in a poor experience so I would just caution that if it is raining and chilly do not bother spending the money to get your golf fix here or you will be disappointed.
We’ve been playing at Pete Dye Golf Course for the last 5 years in January. It’s always a very enjoyable course to golf. The staff are absolutely friendly.
This could be such a good course but it is not kept in good condition. No marshall - as we approached the 10th hole after playing a nicely paced front 9, 2 couples appeared in front of us from who knows where and all were walking. They were not in front of us for the front 9. Because of this the entire back 9 was slow with waiting on every hole. When we finished the 18th they continued on to the 1st so obviously they inserted themselves on the course at the 10th. Interesting that another review also had this experience. When we reported this to the clubhouse at the end of our round the desk guy said oh - I don't know anything because I can't see the 10th tee from here. Will not play here again. Carts had no windshields - we were given some reason like new ones hadn't arrived yet. But again I saw this related in a previous review.
Fun golf course
This course is not as difficult as many of the top tier courses but I really enjoyed it. Long enough and yet friendly off the tee. Hard to hit it in the desert. Worth playing if you get a good price.
Pace of play was a bit slow on the front nine, but when we arrived at the 10th tee, a senior foursome of terrible golfers had inserted themselves between us and the group in front of us. To add insult to injury, they took multiple tee shots, and really brought the pace of play to a standstill. This could have been circumvented if a starter or marshal had been present. Will not be back!
Very disappointed the pace of play was horrible waiting on every hole. Tee times too close together. Carts no windshield, no gps , course condition bad. All for 120 dollars per person. Over priced!!! Had 1 Pepsi and 2 shots of fireball and total came to 23 dollars. Really!! Can buy a bottle of fireball for that. Rip off!!!
Played Laquinta dunes day before for 80 dollars per person, course in great shape carts have gps and windshield to block the wind during these colder months.
Great course, tough but fair. Great layout, enjoyed the round a lot.
Nice course but very slow
We started playing on time but we waited on every single hole for at least 5 to 10 minutes. We finished up after dark 5 hours after starting the round. There was no one on the course to speed up play. We literally played in the dark on the last two holes. I would not recommend this course nor would I play it again.
Rode the Golds (6158/69.5/125) as a single in 3H mid day using Forelinx. Windy and drizzling in the high 60's was unusual to say the least.
Just coming out of over seeding, the conditions were disappointing. They did not over seed the rough and the rest of the course is not nearly as lush as other over seeded courses in the Palm Springs area I have recently played.
Most of the landing areas are generous in size, but there is OB down both sides of most holes and numerous holes have water that comes prominently into play.
The tees were lush bit had their share of divots. Mostly level.
The fairways were lush and well maintained. Few unfixed divots.
The Bermuda rough is mostly dormant and not overly penal. Usually okay to play from.
The sand traps were decently maintained with a good amount of good quality sand.
The greens were fuzzy and putted medium slow. They held irons well.
Good facilities, complementary range balls although the range tops out @ 220 yards. This course would be difficult to walk as numerous tees are a long way from the last green. GPS to the front/middle/back of the green only. The customer service was excellent all around, especially Anthony in the cart barn. Plenty of water stations on the course. No Drink cart today. Fun layout, but could not recommend at their rack rate.
Good resort course
Played day before reseeding. Tried to chase us off driving range after 5 minutes, but argued and was allowed to finish practicing
Course in good condition. Staff o.k
Locker room had no amenities and shower worked poorly
Would play here again
Course condition was very good .... not pristine but good. Pace of play was a bit slow at times but was very good overall .... played in 4:05. Challenging layout and wind conditions made some holes play tough.
Booked through GolfNow ..... rate was ver favourable?
Course is in great shape. Great layout with many opportunities to mix and match your way out of trouble. Whole crew had fun!
Friendly staff, decent pace of play for a resort course. I would go back and recommend it to others.
Nice Course - Too Slow!
This Pete Dye Course is a nice layout, but is completely ruined by the extremely slow play. A 5 hour round is ridiculous! Not playing there again.
Very playable condition
The course is getting ready for over seed so the fairways are a little dry and hacked up.but not really a hindrance the greens were fast and unpredictable, still in very good condition.
