Picturesque and Fasy
Friendly staff, wide open fairways, tough rough perfect greens. Great experience.
Fun and Fair
The starter was great. Pace of play was outstanding. Fun course to play.
Fun day of golf
Fun course, not overly punishing like most Pete Dye courses. Overall good conditions and nice facilities. Friendly staff so overall a good day.
Everything about my experience at Mission Hills was unforgettable: I’ve never set foot on a course anywhere near as nice as the Pete Dye layout and it kind of blew my mind! Getting to hit tee shots over water hazards lined with signature Pete Dye railroad ties and artistic bunkering was an adrenaline rush and a treat for the eyes, while the staff, especially Doug the starter, went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and welcome! I can’t wait to play here again, truly a day I’ll never forget!
Your game has to be on, very fun challenging course will definitely go back and highly recommend.
Rode the Golds (6158/69.5/125) in slightly over 3H on a GH Hot Deal mid day. Matched up with C.J., very nice guy to play with who could bomb it. Then replayed in 2.5 H as a single. The weather was kinda hot, even by my standards. Slight breeze, sunny and 123 when I was finishing. Did not trust my car, so verified online, which said 122. It was blazing.
The course was in surprising excellent condition considering it hasn't been under 100 out here in months.
Tees were the weak link. No divot mix, so not a shock that many tees needed divot repair. Several also had some of the thinnest Bermuda on the course, while others were lush. No issues finding a level lie.
Bermuda fairways were lush and nice to play from. Firm, but I could still make decent divots.
Bermuda rough was just a 1-1.5" higher version of the fairways. Pretty consistently lush and well maintained, good to chip out of.
90% of the sand traps were excellently maintained. Decent sand. 10% of the sand traps had massive water over runs from sprinklers running continuously to deal with the heat.
Bermuda greens were about as good as you are going to see in the middle of the summer in this heat. Firm, good coverage, relatively smooth and medium to medium fast. Very few ball marks, I could not find my ball mark about 1/3 the time.
Customer service always good here. No on course services with COVID-19. Rakes, water and divot mix removed, doodles in the bottom of the cups. Pro Shop closed @ noon, Cart barn closed @ 3pm, I walked the last 3 holes to finish with a rare round in the 70's. Nice all grass range and practice area. Carts have GPS to the F/M/B of the green. Fun course, recommended.
Surprised at how good of shape this course was in considering the reduced staff and it’s the middle of summer. Greens weren’t as fast as they could be, but I think that’s because it’s going to be 118 today and they don’t want to kill them.
La Quinta native
Course was in amazing condition for late July. Staff were so helpful and friendly.
Only negative is because of Covid 19 I didn’t get to experience the amenities.
If this low deal price continues I’ll be back at least once a week. Had a great round with only one ball in a sand bunker and another ball rolling a bit close to the water. Must have been first timer luck!!!
Very Pleased - First Visit!
The staff and overall experience at Mission Hills - Pwte Dye course was exceptional. Very friendly and genuine staff - specifically Luis in the Pro Shop & Dennis as the golf starter at check in for the course..
The golfing was a delight too - well maintained & designed. A fun place to play & challenging for many levels due to excellent design.
Melt your shoes HOT! But...
High of 113*. It was my Birthday weekend so, I have no choice but to play in hot weather. 7am tee time so it wasn't that bad. We finished in 3hr. 20min. as a foursome. It was a Monday and there was very few people on the course. The Fairways,Greens, and even the Bunkers were the best I've seen at any time. It looked like the Pro's were going to show up for a tourney the next day. Finally an upside to the Pandemic. Well worth it.
Perfect conditions. Amenities closed due to Covid. Course and range has never looked better. They are punching greens Aug 3.
