Rough around the edges
not overly hard course sparse grass around greens and runoff areas needs sand in bunkers could use better amenities ball washers worn out very small range course map or yardage book played the golds 6200 yds felt even shorter green were slow decent pace of play no marshalls playing partners gps quit . wouldn't play here unless good golf now price go to LA Quinta Dunes instead better amenities and price
Nice golf course, with some challenging holes
Enjoyable golf course. In great condition. It has a lot of bunkers and a lot of water hazards so you need to think your way around the course. Typical Pete Dye.
Good course, Dissapointed in amenities
Nice course and we’ll be back but dissapointed the beverage cart had no coffee n a cool morning. The snack shack had coffee but no Baileys.
Don't play here!
It started in the parking lot. We were taking our clubs (2 of us) out of the car when the shuttle pulled up and left immediately without us even though she saw us. We waited a few minutes and she came back and told her our tee time was in half an hour. She then drove through the lot and picked up a guy who had just pulled in and was teeing off on an hour. Didn't seem right that she ditched us to begin with.
Next she took us to where all the carts were parked and and when I took my clubs off her shuttle I I noticed my head cover gone from my 4 wood. I inquired but nobody seemed to care.
Paying for the round of golf In the pro shop was quick and seamless.
Went out to hit balls on the range and a little while longer I heard our tee time being announced. Went back to the cart to head to 1st tee but there was no key in it. Sat there for a few minutes and nobody came so I went and found a guy who snootily told me he had the key but to just go and wait and if i didn't want to then to go back to my room (as if i would ever stay at the Westin). Went back and waited and he finally came. At this point I was angry. Went to first tee and they were already backed up. Teed off 15 mins late.
Now about the course itself. The greens were pathetically slow and probably hadn't been mown for a week or two. The sand traps were hard as rock so a proper sand shot was impossible around the greens. But worst of all was the pace of play. We were waiting close to 5 minutes for each shot. The group ahead of us (2 men and 2 women) were insufferably slow and the women were playing 2 balls each. They could care less that they were holding up the entire course. Complained to the ranger but he would do nothing about it. So frustrating!
We finally left after 15 holes as the round had taken over 4 hours to that point and it was too frustrating to go on.
Greens were real slow. Other than that, the course was in great condition.
Fun to play
Course was in great condition. A very fair golf course. Very large greens and lots of sand.
6 real Dye holes rest could have been at any resort
Good resort course rough very sparse could use overseeding. Would not play at list prices.
A tough course
I checked "extremely challenging" because "somewhat" didn't quite cut it. But overall, this is not an easy course: Lots of slopes/undulations to contend with in the fairways and around the greens, along with "gulleys" (large and small), lots of rough areas, and many fairways that were dry and didn't have a lot of grass. Greens not easy to hit and very fast, so if you can't "stick it like a pro" you're on and you're off! (into one of the gulleys). I'll be waiting until my game improves before I try this one again. Beginners and approaching intermediates, beware! I wouldn't recommend this course to anyone at my level, but low handicappers will certainly enjoy the challenge.
Great cousre but terrible amminities
Staff were friendly, course was in perfect shape, challenging but fun. Second time I have played here and both time the snack shop was closed and no where eles to get lunch, disappointed being everything else was so nice.
Excellent Challenging Course, but...
...agonizingly slow. It was extremely busy, and being so on a challenging course has only one outcome, especially when most golfers present are retired couples out for the fresh air, a little walking exercise, and social interaction with friends...SLOW PLAY...5 1/2 hours for a round of golf seems like unmanaged pace of play. But the weather was excellent, and we got through it, and nobody was hurt. Love the course, and would come back to try it again maybe on a Tuesday or Wednesday...
Solid Course and fair price
The pace of play was quite good ( very early morning) and the course was in it's usual good condition. The only problem was with the GPS system on the cart which sounded an alarm when we got within about 39 yds of the green edge and wouldn't shut up, even when we took the designated path off the course to the cart path and continued, no matter what we did until we drove further down the cart path to the next tee
This course is very user friendly
We played on a perfect day. The views are amazing. The course was in pretty good shape. Off the fairway one can encounter some bare lies, but, after all, there should be some difficulty if you don't find the fairway. The greens rolled true and held fairly well despite the fact that they felt firm. Good roll on the fairway which is important to this 66 year old guy who doesn't hit it as far as when I was 36. Overall, a good experience. My wife and I have scheduled a tee time for later next week and I am looking forward to revisiting this course.
Fantastic Golf Course and Facility, you can tell that the entire compound is a full service Resort. It makes you feel like you are away from everything, I highly recommend this golf course and resort.
You won’t be disappointed!
Punishes a good shot.
Good condition, but very difficult and I'm a 19 handicap. Ball falls off fairways, greens. Not fair.
NO PLACE FOR A BEER AFTER THE ROUND. We left.
Pete Dye courses are always interesting with challenging green complexes. Fairly generous room off the tee but then you better bring an accurate iron game or good short game to score. Many greens are small and firm with slopes off almost every side to grass swales or bunkers. There are many great views off the tees and the course was fun to play and well maintained......I'll be back.
Sadly only the greens and tight fairways are over seeded. Impossible to chip off of dirt from beside the greens. Probably a nice course when Bermuda is out.
