Still not what it was,but working on it....
This course has great potential but they need to get a liquor license and a cook so they have food there still.Still trying to get course back to what it was and why they allow 6somes is beyond me?There is NO way this is not going to slow down pace of play which was ok the first 9 but then slowed way down when we hit the back up and they had 2 open holes in front of them.We saw them on 15 when we were on 11 …..I couldn't figure out why so many people were on the green until I watched awhile and realized why it was so backed up from that hole on.I am glad though they reopened this course it is wonderful when everything is going smoothly.I would guess in a month or so all could be back to normal and thriving
Course great holes
The course has been closed for some time. Played it around 3 weeks after it reopened. Greens are not up to par. Very mushy and sanded. The pro shop it not tell us they were sanded. The price should have been reduced. No food and beverage service. It does not tell the golfer when I booked a tee time. Should notify when book a tee time.
Welcome back San Germo!
Seeing how the course was in the brink of closing for good a few months ago, it’s in good shape considering that. The cart paths are very bumpy throughout and they currently have a bridge out between holes 7 and 8 which makes a long detour if you’re riding. But the scenery can’t be beat!
This is a Course to avoid
This course is not for any golfer looking to enjoy a round of golf. The course looked like a pasture, tall grass with many unmowned areas. The pace of play was totally unacceptable with lots of older men who seemed to have just started playing golf. The players meander around as though they want to spend the entire day out there, which they did as well as everyone who are playing behind these types of ‘non-players’. Over 20 minutes per hole resulted in a 6-hour round on a weekday! Imagine how long a weekend round would take?
A nightmare.
Welcome back
So glad the course re-opened. What a nice property with challenging golf in a beautiful valley. Course could use some more work and the clubhouse was barren along with a closed bar...no food yet but.....great to have it available to play
Nice to have the course back
The course was closed last December and thought to be lost forever but it got a reprieve recently and reopened a few weeks ago. They need to catch up on some maintenance that was not done for several months due to the closure. some fairways need to be mowed a little tighter and the abundance of grass clippings need to be removed so that you don't lose golf balls in freshly mowed areas. Overall the course looks to be well on its way back to being the beautiful golf setting it has always been. I think if you give it a week or two and the weather stays good the course will be back to normal as if it never was closed. Happy to have SG back in the rotation of courses I play regularly in the north bay.
Pls help clean this course
Lost 3/4 balls in the MIDDLE of the fairway. The course needs to be touched up, and looks like it’ll be coming around! Bought a hot deal for two people but my 2some left due to perception. I was try to contact Golf now instead my wait time was approximately 1 HOUR. Gave up.
one last time
Course is closing on December 29 so no more play there after this week. Not much reason to write a review. The county is taking over the course and turning it into open space.
Say goodbye to another friend
SG will close at the end of this year. The greens were rolling pretty well, but the fairway grass was thin. It sucks that the County is losing its best public course; get out there and play it while you still can!
Really Terrible this course is closing 12/31/2017
I played there the day after thanksgiving and heard it was closing so had to play one last time before it closed. But It was slower this round then that one ,and they are completely letting the course go with people driving carts when its to wet on the holes and making big muddy areas,Its really so sad an area so beautiful will be just wild growth in a year ,I feel for the people with the beautiful houses looking over the course, soon it will just be wetland and they will lose serious money in there houses worth with not much of a visual to look at.
Keeping San Geronimo National
Played here 11/20/2017. Fabulous Course. It had been 15 years, heard it was closing and had to see it again. Its green and looks good. Best Public Course in Marin. Front nine parkland style, back nine country club! Par 5 all straightforward and playable. Both great nines. Holes 5 and 6 are neat, and 8 and 9 downright slick greens. Back nine holes 11, 12, 14, 15 and 16 are among the best in town.
The course has nice fixed assets, and would love to see it stay.
best public course in Marin!
S.G. is, by far the best test of golf in marin.
The course is in great shape. It is long and challenging. The greens vary in size and difficulty but roll very true. You will feel good about your game after the front 9 but hang on! the back 9 is where this big green monster shows its teeth! On 4 of the first 5 holes, you can not see the green from the tee! Being in the short grass is a must! and even then you might find yourself with no second shot! A great test of golf! You will want to come back for more!
Hot deals are a deal
The regular price is a bit steep for me but the hot deals are worth it.
Hot day makes for fast round
This was my first trip to San Geronimo golf course. I chose the course for two reasons: 1. It was outside the Sacramento Valley where the temperature was going to reach 110 plus, and the valley is filled with smoke from area fires.
2. San Geronimo is a dog friendly course and I have always wanted to take my Basset Hound Mollie with me to keep me company while I play.
My wife, who doesn't play, also joined us for the day and off we went, a rather unorthodox threesome, but all happy to be together, and laughing about enjoying the cool 95 degree temperature.
The course is in good condition. The greens are receptive, but roll nice and true with more break than they appear at times. I really enjoyed the mixture of holes. The front side plays relatively flat, with nice wide fairways. There is some water to deal with on the front side as well as a few well placed bunkers, and the ninth green demands an accurate short iron to a large green split into three small greens. Place your tee shot in the right spot or you are looking at a three-putt.
The back nine begins with an elevated tee shot to a 500 yard par 5 fairway. (Don't miss left.) The back nine has a few interesting (blind) tee shots on 12 and 14 which make it difficult to know exactly where to pick your line. I did manage to birdie 12 after a poor second shot by holing a wedge from 55 yards just short of the pond which is found short right of the green.
The round was a great time with the family, and we look forward to returning to San Geronimo in the future.
