Located just off the beautiful Gold Coast, the Diplomat Golf and Tennis Club sprawls across a lush terrain covered with thousands of coconut and Royal palms. Towering banyans provide shade throughout the golf course as well. Although it is a public course, it has the look and feel of a private club. It has been a staple of the south Florida community since opening in 1957. The layout features interesting hole designs that incorporate raised greens framed by contoured mounding and more than 75 strategically placed sand bunkers. The water features are hard to miss seeing as they come into play on all but two holes. The golf course is a challenge but not too intimidating for less experienced players. The beautiful scenery alone will be well worth the round.

Pleasant place to play
A pleasant day on a well kept and challenging golf course. Nice practice facility and friendly attentive staff
Course
Course was a bit unchallenging. For a better player it would be a breeze. Would definitely like more challenging par 3's. Overall a positive experience.minus the wallet.
Great Course
The course is very nice and in great condition. It's not easy to find a course in Southern Florida in March for less than $120 - this one was a really nice course and was reasonably price for the location and the time of the year...
Great course, driving range, staff
I really enjoyed this course. One of the few near Fort Lauderdale that has a full grass driving range (though there's a lot of yellow balls littering the 10th).
Great arrival with valet for clubs bringing it around to carts marked with your name after you exit checkin at pro shop. Very nice locker room/pro shop. Starter works from the cart area and was aggressive yet friendly getting people moving toward 1 -- unlike most courses does not encourage huge lines at 1 which was nice. Pretty aggressive marshalling and cart GPS timing which was hugely appreciated -- really helped keep the heat on the twosome I was paired with (we lost an entire hole on 1) and a foursome in front who I could tell wanted to play much more slowly. 19th hole seemed expensive and food uninteresting so I skipped it. Easy to get a ride home with Uber.
Course-wise very nice. Wind was a big factor. Fairways were excellent for a public course, greens very good, bunkers very good, tee boxes ok, architecture pretty good. With the beachfront towers nearby had a real urban feel to it which I enjoy. Some very nasty pin placements which I enjoyed though my scorecard suffered. White tees were pretty far up, probably to help speed play. Got a real deal the week prior from golfnow -- saved $40 over a day-before reservation.
Highly recommend for the driving range, staff quality, resulting speed of play, and value. Course itself was very acceptable but not memorable.
What a beautiful course
Very forgiving from the tee. Challenging to the green. I was surprised by how many ball marks on the greens went unrepaired. Says more about the golfers than the facility.
lmbgolf
Course conditions were good, but I expected them to be excellent for the price. Area around greens need better maintenance and some greens had a little over-growth. Otherwise, good courses and would play it again.
Nice Course
Played for the first time at the Diplomat on a Saturday morning at 7:40. Got paired up with a husband and wife that were really friendly. The range is in good shape and has a putting green and chipping area as well.
The clubhouse is very big and looks really nice. Had a couple beers at the bar after the round and had a nice view of the course from the outside patio.
The pace of play was very good, had to wait on the first hole and that was it for the whole round. Finished 18 holes in about 3.5 hours.
The course is in good shape as fairways are lush and greens are smooth and fast. The only thing I might say was a little shaky was the condition of some of the tee boxes, they were a little beaten up but weren't awful.
The course has some nice views and a lot of water in play which makes some shots and tee shots tough off the tee. Played from the farthest yardage and course was tough but not unfair by any means. Most could probably score pretty well as course allows you to spray the ball off the tee a little on some holes.
Carts have GPS which makes it nice. Will definitely look to play this course again when traveling I south Florida.
OK. if you can`t get a time anywhere else
Not impressed at all. Expensive to play. Wear a helmet..course is only on about 80 acres (I almost got hit twice from incoming) fairways were not good...had to play lift, clean place.
Look forward to playing The Diplomat again.
My wife and I played this great course and would love to play it again. The course is quite pretty and is in very good condition. It played at a decent pace. Greens were very true and in excellent condition. Great variety form hole to hole. Good pro shop with lots of nice products. The only disappointing thing is that a few times tees and greens were pretty close and you risk being hit by a ball.
excellent course lay out
Valet service was not attentive. Front desk staff and cart person was not friendly. The only staff that was friendly were the individuals cleaning our clubs at the end. We have golfed at many courses in the area from West Palm to Miami including Doral and the PGA National. The service was worst by far of any of the private and public course we have golfed over the years. the only conclusion that we can come up with was that it was because we are black!
Great Resort Style Course
Huge value for the quality of the staff and grounds are fantastic
First class place take your customers to this place to impress
3 signature style holes including island green
Florida setting quiet area safe and secure
Very Playable
Approx 6500 from the tips, won't get penalized too much for hitting left and right. Great condition, smooth greens, great practice areas, great facilities. All around great experience, will definitely play again.
Worth a look
Greens rolled true, challenging from the tips, I've played better but for as much play as course gets can't complain. Food outrageously prices however, and club members were rude.
Exclusive resort feel....
Before you play this course you must realize that you're playing a top notch hotel's golf course in South Florida during peak season. They want you to feel taken care of and they do just that with the valet service and club delivery back up to valet. They have the nicest and most prefessiona looking practice area. This was awesome and it would be a great thing if all clubs had that. The course itself was immaculate and the nicest I've personally played. Jacaranda is almost the same but Diplomat goes all put to make sure it's gorgeous. Other than the inevitable ball marks left by ignorant golfers I think the greens were true and fast. A must play if you're ready! Thanks to GolfNow I got to play at a great rate!
Great round of golf on an excellent course.
One of the best courses in the area - challenging and generally in very good condition. Well maintained.
A nice course overall
It was a great day as my friend and I were paired with a father and son who were very nice, pleasant and fun.
this course is over-rated
All 18 tee boxes are brown dirt and some even had holes. No overseed, over priced for condition
Diplomat great
Course was in good order and staff very pleasant. It's not the best value in town but still good value
I wish to live here most of the year to be member.

Resort type course
Nice course, but not exceptional in layout or maintenance. Water plays a big role in the course, aim for the middle or worry about the slope allowing the balls to run into the water.
Beware that if you follow the "all vehicle' signs you will wind up at the $10. Valet. I probably would have valet parked anyway, but no one told me that there was a charge until my round was over...bad form
The quoted $125 price seems high to me for the course. This is not a bucket list course.
