This hero is hanging on
Here in Brevard County, we are going through some rough times regarding our three county operated golf courses. Historically, The Savanahs has been operating in the red due to reduced play from lessening Cape Canaveral employment opportunities. This has resulted in poor management from a company called ironically, Integrity, who has left us in a lurch and walked out on their ten year commitment. The three courses don't have much financial support and are hanging on by the skin of their teeth. The Habitat has maintained a decent overall condition and continues to be one of the best values in Brevard County. The greens are true, despite the lack of money to roll them. They are weed-free and roll about a 10 on the stimp. The fairways are workable and the drainage is adequate. The tee boxes are a little rough, but the venue continues to be one of the favorites of my foursome. I highly recommend play at The Habitat, where you can find large alligators and bald eagles on nearly every round played. Go out an play it. You won't be sorry.
Canada Goose
Very good golf course, great pace of play, fairways are all separated by trees and brush so you are not worried about hitting others players on other fairways. Just a great experience overall.
Habitat
Nice layout but most of the tee boxes are tattered, the starter was rude as was the pro shop staff.
A course marshal would be nice
I enjoy the course very much but there are people out on the course that are not golfers they are more interested in driving the cart and looking at nature rather than playing golf and they do not know the meaning of course ediquite the course is turning into the Long Island Expressway
The Habitat
As usual, I got right off and even earlier than expected. Two guys from Canada were great competition. I love the layout of this course. Thanks, Golfnow for a great deal!!
Great day
Overall very happy. Only negatives were pace of play and tee box conditions.
Had to wait for two foursomes that joined up at end of day. They played together on a par three #17. Tee boxes were awful. No grass on some and sloped rather than level for tee offs.
Great track, tough track.
Pick the right tees, and you will be challenged on every hole. Grate Course.
Great value and nice course, greens perfectly smooth
In staying in Vero Beach on vacation, I visited this course in February of 2017, then came back for 9 then 18 holes while in the area again this year. The greens here were almost perfect, incredible smooth, and nice speed. While bunkers could use some edging and sand, the course was still really fun, especially for someone from Ohio that is used to playing wetter courses with big mature tree lined fairways, and hitting off of different types of grass. I really enjoyed the course, layout, and especially not having houses and noise everywhere, and saw a lot of different wildlife. The staff inside was friendlier than any courses I have been to in Ohio. I will plan to come back if in the area again.
For playing 9-18 later in the afternoons, the prices are great, but play was a little slower for a single with a lot of couples out on the course. Playing as a 4 some was excellent and the 18 took 4 hours.
Best of Both
Played with great guys, the fairways are a bit brown, but it's winter. the greens were good.
Starter/ranger told us new handicapped player rules
Play this course.a few times a month. Always told in the past handicapped could drive up to collar of greens. On about the 5th hole, we were told to stay 30 yards from green. Please clarify which is correct. 30 yards seems a bit harsh for handicapped breathing difficulties.
