Should of listened to the recent reviews. Course is in HORRIBLE condition. Was my first time playing and see where it was a nice course at one time, but now it’s just plain not good.
I see why there was no one on a Saturday morning
Course is in terrible shape. Virtually no grass on tee boxes, greens were horrible at best. I wondered why it wasn't a full parking lot on a nice Saturday morning. Wouldn't recommend anyone to go here unless you just don't care about the conditions.
Good course gone bad.
This course has potential, but it needs.lots of work.
virtually no grass on tees, burnt out fairways and poor or no grass on greens
Troubles @ Ridgewood Lakes
I hate to give a poor review, but Ridgewood Lakes is in trouble. Let me preface by saying I have played this course many times throughout the years --always enjoyed myself, the course, the friendly staff, and of course the great costs from a Hot Deals Special. Right now, the conditions are poor --many greens, especially on back9 are all sanded in need of rebuild/regrowth of Bermuda grasses. Nobody on course, not just because this morning was a cool 55*, so pace of play was <3hrs. Just a shame from when LPGA Futures & Symetra Tour played here just a few years ago. Please, get an owner to bring back Ridgewood Lakes to what it once was.
What happen to this course
I was looking forward to playing this course. It has always been one of my favorites. I try to play here once or twice, every time we come down. The tees are like sand boxes and the course doesn't appear to have been watered all year. I could go on and on about the conditions, just easier said. I won't be back for awhile. We considered buying in this community, but with the course being bad, we are looking elsewhere.
Did not expect much, was disappointed anyway
We played the course on the last day of a two weeks holiday. We played 11 rounds on 9 different courses. The other 8 courses were all much better.
RIdgewood Lakes was with a clear margin the worst we played. Tired Facilitys, old carts, a collection of terrible old range balls. Tee boxes were in many cases pure sand, fairways dry and burned in many places, greens in poor shape. Bunkers were actually the best part of the course, with enough sand in them. The hole course needs attention, and lots and lots of improvement.
Ridgewood Lakes, you're breaking my heart!
Over the last 20 plus years, We have played this course several times a year as vacationers and snowbirds. This is a classic Florida small retirement community golf course.
Lots of water, smaller greens, comfortable club house with no frills but nice staff. Just played this week and was so sad to see this fun layout run down badly. This is one of so many courses that were clobbered in the recession after 2008 and are fighting to keep greens and fairways playable with limited resources.
Funds are so tight for these mid level formerly lush layouts that many continue to just keep basic maintenance crews and staff.
I know they are working hard to improve conditions. If they keep prices reasonable , this can still be fun to play and avoid the traps and the water.
Disappointement of the week
Played this course many time usually nice condition, today was in really bad condition. But I saw that they are trying to get it back in condition . I will know in April cause my wife is going to play with friends on their golf trip and I will tell her to check the status before booking.
Nice layout, good value
I've played Ridgewood Lakes a few times and enjoy the course even though I end up losing balls. Lots of bunkers (many could be in better condition), quite a bit of water. Tees being reseeded, fairways in good condition and most greens in decent condition. Temp green at hole 15 a joke as you were basically putting in the rough as the temp green had not been cut at all.
However good price and attractive course with all the water, trees and wild life.
Definitely worth playing at the right price.
Getting worse every year.
We have played this course each year over the last 5 years as we "snowbird" and each year it has gotten worse. Five years ago we had it starred as a course we would play again but not after this year. Tee grass is almost non-existent, fairways are sparse and some of the greens are almost unplayable. One par 3 green is temporary and some others need the same makeover. It is a sad situation as this course used to be in great shape. I feel bad for the people that own in this community and are expecting a nice course to play. Ridgewood Lakes, you are off our list of places to play when we visit Florida.
Great layout, poor condition
It's been 3 years since my last visit and I was shocked by how much the course has been allowed to deteriorate. This is a crying shame because the layout is outstanding and very varied.
The wooden bridge across the lake to the tee box on 2 was a scary experience due to the state of repair.
Love the lay out of this course it’s interesting and visually good, unfortunately the greens were poor today, quite a few weeds and sand.
We followed a group of 8 around who were really slow, it took over five hours to play, think we all lost the will to live waiting on every tee!
Shame really because this is one of my favourite courses and I am not sure I will be recommending it to anyone.
Play course regularly but this was the worst condition I have seen it in. Tees were bare with very little grass and greens were very patchy and bare. Not a very happy playing experience.
Greens need major work
Greens were the worst I have seen in many years. Such a shame as this is a great layout. Rest of the course was fine and staff were out there working on it, but the greens need major work from a greenkeeper who understands what is needed. Such a pity
This course has really gone down hill in the last two years. Needs TLC. Hardly any grass on the tee boxes (they used to be nice). No excuse due to the amount of rain we’ve had. Animal poop on most of the greens (obviously not cut in a while). Traps were in horrible condition. There was an animal hole at least two feet deep in the middle of one of the traps on the forth hole with animal tracks all around it. They should pay you to play!
Great course for the value
This is a great course for this area. The staff is always friendly and the grounds crew is always active on the course. The course conditions are excellent for the value vs. money. Great par 72 course will continue to visit.
