White Heron Golf Club (formerly known as Ridgewood Lakes Golf Club) has had many accolades over its history and for good reason. The Ted McAnlis layout is sculptured from lush rolling land and features immaculate playing conditions year round. Water and natural wetlands come into play on 16 of our 18 holes and the resident breeze can significantly change the course from day to day. Yet despite the natural beauty and obvious pedigree of the layout, with four sets of tees the course is still enjoyable for golfers of all levels.

WOW!!

We gave up playing Ridgewood Lakes a couple of years ago because it was in TERRIBLE condition. Apparently a new owner bought the course & changed EVERYTHING, including the name - to White Heron. The course is now AWESOME in every respect! In addition to lush fairways, approaches, & rough; well-manicured white sand bunkers; and smooth greens, the plantings throughout White Heron are just beautiful! The layout is fun and challenging (just shy of 5300 yards from the forward tees), and staff couldn't be any more welcoming. If you haven't played White Heron, go for it. You're in for a fun round of golf on a truly BEAUTIFUL course. There is currently one temporary green (#9), but the permanent green looks to be very close. The change was necessary due to the new golf academy coming soon. LOVE White Heron, and I'm sure residents of the former Ridgewood Lakes community are delighted!

Great comeback

I've played this course as Ridgewood Lakes for several years. I saw it go steadily downhill until it became almost unplayable in April 2019. No after extensive reconstruction, the course has reopened as WHITE HERON. It is a new course and worth playing again.

Ignore past reviews!

A shame we can't erase old reviews before this new owner sank so much money into creating "a PGA" caliber course.
Its breathtaking beauty, challenging championship holes make this a must play course! We are fortunate to live on this course as I will always be improving my game! The rates are fair, service and Pro are very friendly and professional. All new , excellent equipment.
Can't wait to get back out there. Its a must see to believe accomplishment

5 - STARS HANDS DOWN!!!

This course is immaculate! Cole in the pro shop helped us out and was extremely friendly and informative. It can be as long as 7400 yards or as short as 6200 yards. I loved the elevation changes. I usually shoot between 75 and 85 but White Heron ate my lunch with a 90. The rough is deep, the fairways and greens are soft. Its very challenging and reminds me of championship courses in Myrtle Beach because you have to place your ball and use every shot in your bag. I will definitely be back! Great job to everyone involved!

Beautiful Upgrades

They put a lot of work into the course, and it's paying off. The grass is thick and lush almost everywhere. There are some very pretty views including the landscaping and surrounding nature.

The layout is demanding with all the water and tight landing areas. There are several holes with forced layups, and it's not obvious from the tee box. Except for 8 and 9, it's approximately the same as Ridgewood Lakes, so you'll need a course map GPS or app until the cart GPS comes online.

The tee boxes are good and pretty flat. The fairways were a little soft, normal for a sunrise tee time, and I usually found good lies. There were a few mushy spots in fairways, but they also warned of a sprinkler malfunction. The rough is good and thick, but not so long it hides the ball; you can still advance the ball, but best to stick to the fairways. The greens are coming along. They're slower than they look. Once the adjustment was made, the ball rolled fine.

The range, practice green and restaurant were closed, but the staff were attentive and helpful.

Bottom line, it's worth playing now, and it'll only get better.

An awesome experience

Played White Heron today. What a beautiful course it is now after all the course renovations. Tees, fairways, & greens all in pristine & perfect condition. Never played on a course as picturesque as this. Beautiful flowers, shrubs, awesome & unique sand traps along with clear lakes and so much wildlife. Great staff. First class golf course.

What a great comeback

This course was called Ridgewood Lakes until it was reopened last week with a new name and all new course. They have redone the entire course from soup to nuts. The layout is mostly the same with a few new pot bunkers and one big surprise on the 15th green. Plush fairways and rough, impeccable greens , soft sandy bunkers and great staff. It is certainly worthy of play.

What a superb transformation.

This course is now called White Heron and has been totally refurbished with the traps being reconfigured and filled with new sand. Fairways and rough are summer rules quality.
Greens are in great condition and roll really nice. The staff is very polite and knowledgeable. The restaurant was closed because of the virus scare.
Hole #9 has a temporary green because its new green is not ready for play, and the practice green is also not quite ready for use, but this is certainly not an issue when considering replaying this fine track. You're going to be pleasantly surprised with the new look of #18.
The people responsible for this transformation should be proud.

Great Turnaround

This was a great experience. It started by meeting Cole, the head pro. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable. The course is in great shape. It puts the old Ridgewood Lakes course to shame. This course will not disappoint. It has several great, memorable holes. You won't go wrong playing here.

Would love to have finished

The course is one of the most beautiful I have played. I was a bit disappointed, however, that I did not get to finish the last 3 holes. The reason was that two groups jumped in on the back 9 in front of me, and one of them was a club employee. And they would not invite me (a single) to play through. That lack of golf etiquette from an employee was a tough pill to swallow. If I pay those prices (and the course is worth it) to play 18 holes, then I should get to play 18 holes... especially if delayed by an employee.

Other than that...FANTASTIC COURSE!. Can't wait to play again.

WOW!!! What a stand up course!!! They went above and beyond to make this right. They explained that it is there policy to allow faster players to play through. While they could have just let this go and tried to correct it in the future, they reached out and went above and beyond to personally make it right. I will most certainly be golfing here more often! Shooting for at least once a week at this point.

Wow, what a turnaround!

White Heron is a newly renovated course and I was blown away by the upgrades, condition and quality. New carts, new everything. The course is challenging and fun with some really fun unique bunkers and greens. I love what they have done to bring this beauty back to life. Thanks. I’ll be back.

Tranformed

I have played there many times over a number of years, and the condition of the course had deteriorated to a point where it was really not worth playing. Having heard about the name change / new ownership decided to try it again and played it on Sat. 14/3 just 5 days in to the new business.
I was really impressed with everything being done there, good tee boxes, lush fairways, greens rolling well ( a tad slow but no complaints given only open 5 days). Also still 1 temporary green on 9, and the cart GPS yet to be working.
All the staff there were really friendly and seem to be very proud of the course and the ongoing improvements.
Went round in 3.5 hours, seeing loads of wildlife - really was well worth the trip.
Keep up the good work and good luck with your new venture.

Fantastic!

We had been members of the old Ridgewood Lakes Golf club before it’s sad demise. SO, SO happy that the new ownership has TOTALLY renovated this wonderful track.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT pay any attention to old reviews as they would be of the old course and owners. This place is FANTASTIC! I suspect it will eventually compete in being one of the top places you can play in Central Florida.

Amazing. Ignore old reviews. New Course

Don’t hesitate to play here if you are reading old reviews. It’s a brand new course and it shows. Great layout. Fun. Challenging. Great employees who really care about the course. #9 green is still being built. Expect slightly slower greens since they’ve only been open 5 days. I’ve played it twice. Come see my pics of this beautiful course on my Orlando Golf page called Orlando Golf Network on Facebook.

Overall great experience

Loved the course. Some communication problems, we were not told that the 9th green was a temporary green, bathroom codes given were wrong, did not know whether 90° cart rule applied or whether you were permitted to drive anywhere. Overall staff was very friendly and I understand that the course just opened so these problems will smooth out.

Re Born

Heard that the old Ridgewood lakes had been re done completely and was just opening. Having played prior when it opened first to 2017 saw the decline to very poor conditions. Wow amazing transformation and will only get better as new fairways greens mature with age. Greens rolled well for new. Sand traps actually had great sand and the course was well manicured.. Should compete with other high end courses. Golf now hot tee time rate well worth it. Familiar staff faces back, Only negative occurred when inquired if could go out early as arrived early, course was open, had to wait to booked tee time because we were prepaid booked online, possibly because rate discounted through booking, full price or walk on could have gone out early. When we did go out on booked time play was 4hrs which was great. As news travel re re opening as White Heron and excellent conditions vacant gaps in tee times most likely won't happen. Played with two residents who like us had nothing but positives. enjoyed the day

Newly Renovated

This course just reopened after a year and a half, was formerly Ridgewood Lakes. The transformation is amazing, lush fairways, great landscaping, and new greens. The course layout is very challenging but fair. Putts roll nice on the new greens although they were slow because they shouldn't be cut or rolled too soon since they are new. Staff is very friendly and accomodating and look forward to playing it again real soon. Hole number 9 has a temporary green but the new green will be elevated with sand all around and will be a fun challenge when it's completed. Hats off to the new owners they did it right.

Amazing Transformation!

I have been playing this course for many years and watched it go from a great track to a disaster. So you can appreciate how very pleased I was to have played the newly renovated course on opening day today! The course is absolutely beautiful! Everything has been revamped from the ground up while maintaining the wonderful layout. Best value for these conditions in the area for sure! The new owners and staff should be very proud of what they’ve accomplished. I’ve added a few photos to give you a sense of this new gem!
