Gray Plantation

2/25/19. Normally this is one of the best in the area, but currently with as much rain as we have gotten, the grounds are still a bit soggy.

The course was fine. It was a mud puddle, but that's nobody's fault. The staff is the reason why we will not play this course again on our next Lake Charles trip. The pro was in his office being a jerk to his employees right in front of us. Which they say happens frequently. It took 30 minutes to get a hot dog at the turn (it was really good by the way). We made it to the 13th hole before we got so sick of the course members driving through the hole we were playing that we just left. Don't pay full price, get the Golf Now Hot Deal.

First time playing course. Pro shop staff very friendly. Great course, super conditions for mid- winter. GN highlighted as "new course " but we were told they are actually "returning" and it was a great time! !!! Play this course ! Loved it!

Tee boxes, fairways, rough, sand traps all in fantastic shape. Cart path was in excellent shape, carts are top notch with GPS and usb plugs that actually work. One thing that blows my mind is the amount of ball marks on the greens. Not all are as bad as others but some greens you spend more time fixing massive craters from other people then reading your own putt. I don’t understand how people let this get this bad. It’s a nice course, keep it that way. Other then that 9/10. Cart girl was around often, groups let me play through.

It had rained several inches two days before and the sun hadn’t come out at all really! That being said the course was beautiful and I could tell was in amazing shape when it wasn’t so wet. Greens rolled well. Easy to say they held good having had all that rain.

Great course, usually costs $40 for a twilight round but since the greens have been aerated the past week it was only $25. For $25 this course is worth playing on aerated greens. You will not find better fairways, bunkers, etc. One of the nicest courses in Louisiana year around. Have played dozens of times and do not plan to stop. Always challenging, always a good time.

The guy in the pro shop was bad. He was rude and thought he was better than everyone. The guys behind us thought the same thing too. We just left because of him

Good course, Tee to Green the course was in great shape. Layout was easy to understand. Looking forward to playing it again soon.

Highly suggest this course as must play if you're in Lake Charles. It's about 4-5 miles south of Golden Nugget Casino in a masterplanned community . Fairways/greens/design all above parmuch more fun than Contraband Bayou at l'Auberge. Kosati Pines in Kinder another great/fun course I've played several times.

Nice driving range and pro shop. Carts were in great condition. Played 18 holes in 3 hours and 45 minutes. Course was in great shape and enjoyed the course. Lots of lakes and challenging shots.

Played on a Saturday afternoon pace was very good and course was excellent for the price. Bring bug spray

We had a blast playing Gray Plantation. The course is in great shape and the greens roll true. Some very interesting holes, including a ridiculous par 5 with split fairways and trouble absolutely everywhere. Many of the holes on the back side run along the Bayou. We played twilight which made for an incredibly unique round of sunset golf in quite the setting. The people in the pro shop were full of southern hospitality (even to us New Yorkers). I loved everything about this place!

Bring bug spray!!! The mosquitos out there are unlike anything I've ever experienced. Twilight golf is a battle against those little suckers.

My bride and I played at our own pace after being greeted by friendly staff. Golf, cart and range balls for two came in at the $100 mark and was a value buy.

Cold "Stellas" complemented a really good burger and sweet potato fries, all served cheerfully by Amy.

We finished in about 3.5 hours, but the total time away from the casino was six hours--money saved!

We will play there again.

In spite of excessive rain, course was very playable. Cart trail only. Greens had been recently punched, but recovering nicely. Had never played the course, and requested playing with someone. A single did show up, was not told by clubhouse I was interested. Other than that, very enjoyable. Looking forward to playing again.

I had the thrill of playing Gray Plantation this past Friday and every part of it was fantastic. The staff was friendly and helpful, the course was in fabulous condition, and the layout was challenging but very playable and fun for a group of us that ranged from 9 - 25 handicaps.

I've played TPC in New Orleans and Coushatta's course and this is better than both overall!

In Lake Charles golf, options 1a and 1b, respectively are Contraband Bayou and Gray Plantation. Both are really scenic, well-conditioned and a lot of fun to play. Which is better? It's tough to say. Gray Plantation has some really nice marsh holes that bring the bayou to life, though Contraband Bayou's service and amenities, plus the fact there is no real estate on the course, might give it the inside track. Regardless, be sure to pair the two on a golf and gaming (or fishing) weekend to Lake Charles and you won't be disappointed.

If you love the game of Golf and want to be challenged right from the first tee box, then this is your course. This course has beautiful rolling hills, well placed sand bunkers and water on nearly every hole. It is an iron lovers dream with green side bunkers and water near most of the greens, you have to develop a special touch with your irons and your wedges to get the most out of the experience. The scenery near the course is as good as the course itself. The tranquil atmosphere and the quiet, beautiful course will never provide a lifetime of great golf experiences for all who play. Enjoy!!!
