Twenty seven championship holes await travelers visiting south Florida's scenic beaches. Grand Palms Golf & Country Club in Pembroke Pines also offers three nines: Royal, Sabal and Grand. All three are famous for having some of the best greens in the area, and the golf courses are played in three separate combos. The Grand/Royal 18, designed by Ward Northrup, comes in at 6,881, most of which is blanketed with palm trees and tropical foliage. The longest and most challenging of the Grand Palms' golf courses, Grand/Royal features some especially memorable water holes. A tight layout with raised greens (perfect for testing your shot-making talents), beware the Grand's bunkers, strategically placed along the greensides.

Located next to a run-down hotel and an overpriced restaurant, this crazy-quilt, 27-hole labyrinth snakes it way through and around upscale homes, lakes, and canals. Some courses overlap each other. The fairways, tees, and greens were in generally good shape, but the mix of different types on grass in the rough provided a strong challenge around the greens. Poorly maintained bunkers were strategically placed along the fairways and around greens. I started out a pleasant, 2 1/2 hour solo round on the tight, water-laden Grand, which required sharp shot management on several holes. The Royal was less demanding, but featured a quirky, dog leg Par 5 that made a 90-degree turn around a row of houses. Oddball layouts offered disjointed golf experience from course to course. Pro shop staffer was polite, but cart attendants were less attentive. As usual in the summer, there was no beverage cart and only few water stations on the course. And unless you are into apathetic female bartenders and $6 Heinekens, skip the restaurant. Not a deal for $25.

The course was cart path only because of all the recent rain. It also has a lot of water hazards that are well placed to gobble up golf balls so bring your A game.

Off and on rain at a course we have played several times. Restaurant has changed with new menu and inside staff is very good. Food was good. Outdoor staff, the last several times, acts if you are not there. No direction, communication or assistance with clubs after the round. Not even a thank you for playing or have a nice day.

A staff member (Susan) was courteous and professional. After checking me in and finding out it was my first time playing there. She took the time to explain all i needed to know. Moreover, she delivered a new cart to me out on the course when the GPS stopped working on my cart. I played there again the next day and she was not working. I mention this as the gentleman in the pro shop this day was not helpful. He was condescending when I had a concern and asked for help.

Beautiful day on Sunday to play a round of golf. From the young lady behind the pro shop counter to the cart girl very friendly. Greens and fairways are in good condition the tee boxes could use some work.

Took my father in law and dad to play the grand and royal courses. Great time, course was beautiful, greens a little sandy but let’s chalk that up to reseeding after a busy winter season. There’s only one hole (#6 or 7) where the fairway runs parallel to a major road and a slight slice can have the potential to put your ball in the passenger seat of an unsuspecting driver. Other than that, it’s a perfect course. Will definitely be back to play the other 9 and replay one of the first two mentioned (minus the street hole).

We enjoyed our round. The course is coming along nicely. Grass is greening up. Overseeded areas are growing well. Greens were a little slow but true and green. Much better management then most at keeping the lazy slobs from driving their golf carts right up to the greens. They actually had ropes and signs. Really nice people running the place. The only negative was one of the players left his wallet in a golf cart. It was found and turned into management. But when the player went to claim his wallet, it couldn't be found along with a large sum of cash, all missing. Really??!!. At present, management still has not made it good. And the player is a long term member there. Management needs to Man Up. There is definitly a thief within the employees.
