Fun challenging course
Emerald Hills is a fairly challenging course. Very nice big greens. Some fairways and rough were not in pristine condition but there had been alot of rain. Multiple carries over water.
Terrible condition
I was told this use to be a great course but its not anymore. Parts of the greens were dead and unplayable. Dried up fairways and just overall lack of maintenance. The conditions of the greens alone warrant 1 star.
Not worth the green fee
We chose this course as it was near the airport and we had a flight to catch. We tee-ed off at 9 and by 12:30 we had only done 12 holes.
The course design is nice but the condition of the tee blocks were poor and the greens were slow and recently sanded.
We left after 12 holes and the staff were quite rude when we told them that they are backed off.
The pace of play was the worst of all the courses we played in Florida!!!
Love the course but…..
The course layout is challenging and the variety of holes is excellent. The greens were not in the best condition but still playable. I got in on a special from GN otherwise I wouldn’t have played and paid full price. Overall this is still a excellent choice if you don’t mind paying a little extra
Course
I don’t often leave ratings, but I couldn’t help myself. To pay over $110 per person here is questionable. Check in staff were friendly, cart staff were friendly, a bit unorganized, but friendly. Started by hitting a few practice putts, the practice green was horrendous. It was one of the worst greens I’ve seen. Then the greens on the course were not good either. They were better than the practice green, but still very bumpy. Lots of dead spots and sand.
The tee boxes were hairy and hadn’t been cut in a few days. The tee boxes were bad. Probably worse then the greens.
My fiancé is a very good player (plus cap), and wanted for fun to play the course at 7800. Tee boxes were extremely confusing to find. Hole 3 was a complete guess, but we managed to find it. A few other holes on the back were hard to find too.
Cart paths were very beat up and bumpy.
Bunkers were in poor shape from the rain the night before…and I understand some would looked washed away, but some were exposing the liner, and most of them were not raked by the people playing! First fairway bunker my partner hit it into, he was in a foot print. The next time he hit it into a bunker he was in another footprint. Then the last time he hit it into a bunker, another footprint! 3/3 in bunkers hit and in a footprint.
Fairways were ok. Layout is challenging, and fun.
I called in an order of food on hole 8. When I got to the lounge to pick up my food, no staff was there. 2 people were just standing there talking and doing shots of tequila/vodka! I had to go to the proshop and ask for help. The person apologized and helped me get my food.
I’m not usually critical of courses, but I would’ve expected this course to be much better with high rates. This course has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, it wasn’t up to a premium course that it’s advertised to be.
Many greens looked like the photo or worse. Most tee boxes were as bad as the photo.
Horrible greens
Horrible greens especially for the cost they charged.
The layout is great which was a downer with those greens. Also we were not told at check in about the greens. I will tell everyone not to go to this place until they repair the greens. I should have taken Pictures. Holes and bouncy greens. Every green had issues. Almost half of the tee boxes were not cut. It was like hitting out of the rough. I usually don’t complain about courses. The folks we played with were shocked also. They have played this course multiple times prior. Boo!!!!
First timer….
Fiirdt time playing this course and I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised. How I didn’t know or hear of this course in the past beats me.. The layout of the course is fantastic… definitely a players course. Very long and narrow . Quite a challenge. To the northerners, don’t use this course as an opener. You wanna be warmed up.
A few of the tee boxes were over grown and could stand to be mowed. A couple of the greens had bare patches but didn’t affect playability. Very friendly staff , and nice bar . Special shout out to Travis at the pro shop. Cool dude, we bought a lot of merch. 👊🏽
The teeboxes were in horrible shape. Four inch grass on many holes. Pretty surprising and very frustrating
NOT worth the money
The course condition was way out of line with the price paid for a round. Expected much more. The Tees had long grass, fairways had issues and soe of the greens were also not acceptable. They knew that they had issues and should be offering players a break in price while they correct the problems. Shame on you Emerald Hill
AVOID
I’ve been playing golf for 25 years. Never in my life have I seen the tee boxes have 5 inch grass like I was in the rough at bethpage. The tee box!!! I You may think I’m joking, haha it couldn’t be that bad, no it was worse than you’re imagining. I had to tee up from any patch of grass I could find, which was usually in the actual rough between the tee markers. Absolutely absurd for a course costing 150. I wouldnt pay 5$ to play this place again. Stay away. The layout of the course is nice but whoever runs this place should be ashamed
Poorly maintained
Tee boxes not even mowed, course feels run down in general. We came from out of town so also had to rent clubs. Close to $400 total for the two of us at what felt like a marginal course felt over the top
Greens keeper blues
I have played this course plenty of times, last season and prior years the course was maintained really well and the greens were almost at tour levels,I was basically in shock when I putted on the first green and for the rest of the round, patchy, thin, and super slow,a course employee said the old greens keeper left, who knows but they are charging very high rates $160 and up, I guess because it’s close to the Hard Rock Casino, but to be totally fair, the conditions now,it’s a $55-60 golf course
