Great Old School Course
Every couple of months I meet my buddy halfway between San Diego and L.A., usually in Orange County. I had heard of Dad Miller before but never played here. We were both pleasantly surprised by the condition and the layout of this classic course. It's located in the middle of urban Anaheim. The surrounding area is a little crusty but the course was fantastic. The staff was super friendly as well. The layout is perfect for me and my buddy - we're both high handicappers. The course features wide fairways and is mostly flat. The fairways were in great shape and the greens were just about perfect. The course is challenging in places with some old trees and water hazards.
We were grouped with a really nice 70-something guy and we had a great time! I wish we had this same kind of course in North County San Diego, where I live. I would definitely play this course again. Also, surprisingly it wasn't crowded and we were able to complete our round in 3.5 hours - which was icing on the cake!
Super crowded
The main parking lot was overflowing with cars. The driving range was also packed. However, we were able to tee off on time. Course was in good condition. Nice fairways, greens and bunkers. Many unfixed ball marks, but that's not the course's fault. Pace of play was slow at 5 1/2 hours
Pace of play suffers badly on Par 3's
What ever happened too waving up the next group on Par theres? Gerting too Par theres with 3-4 groups backed up is ridiculous!
Dad Miller
We had fun golfing. Course was in good shape really fast greens. Which was good
No cart girl hurt
The foursome in front of us stop to order lunch so we went straight to 10. Glad we did because up to that point they were a bit on the slow side. 10-18 no waiting 4hrs20min rd. Very Happy
Lastly the guy working the pro shop a young guy was terrible. Short curt with me seemed like he just didn't
Want to be there.
Overbooked
Way too many groups. Pace is very slow for a $50 fee for a 1:30 tee time. Crazy.
Backed up for over 30 minutes on hole 7
1st time this has happened to me at dad millers. it took almost 3 hours to get through the front 9, we didn’t get to finish the full 18.
SLOW!!!
The pace of play is horrendous!!! Ttimes are staked, t boxes backed up with multiple groups. On hole 5 I had time to walk to the restroom, go to my car and turn the a.c. on make a phone call( could have gone to have lunch) come back and still wait to tee off. Did I mention "91 freeway" standstill traffic jam on this course? Yeah! I highly don't recommend!!!
#15 is a ridiculous setup. Turn it back to a par 4. The last three times I played, I walked off after the 15th hole because there were three groups waiting on #16.
I played there 2 days ago for the first time and it was the worst 5 hrs and 44 minutes ever! Very slow players and high handicapped players. Many of them walking to save $$$. Ridiculous!!! T boxes were backed up all day. Groups piled up on every hole. Never again!!!
