Terrible course conditions
I've played at Mission Trails many times before, and as one of the "cheaper" options in town, a pristine course is not to be expected. That said, this was easily the WORST course conditions I've ever experienced at any course I've played in San Diego. The fairways were all so overgrown that finding a perfectly straight tee shot was impossible at times. In addition to the lack of cutting, walking was like trekking through a marsh or the everglades in Florida. My feet and lower pant legs were completely soaked from the first hole on. They should have either had the course closed for business or at least warned potential golfers that the course was in a pretty rough state. To charge regular weekend prices for the type of conditions we played on was almost thievery.
Muddy, grassy and fairways nowhere to be found
I suppose it is because of the recent downpours but truth be told, fairways looked like roughs and roughs where little jungles where you could lose the most straightforward ball.
Omg this is the worst course ever!
In the 25 years ive been playing this course , I’ve never seen it managed this poorly. Green ankle high weeds in every fairway. You cant even find your ball in every fairway.
Not a playable course. Large tree halfway down with no cones around it. Sad to see american golf let this course go to crap. Place would go under fast if it wasnt for the monthly players club memberships that people pay and dont use.
Bad condition to play golf
Whole course is under water. We can only play front 9 hole for twice. Front 9 to back 9 has been blocked by water.
Course unprepared for play
When you hit your ball down the middle of what should be the fairway you can’t find your ball as the fairway was 6” tall the tee boxes were not cut
It’s the worst cow pasture I have ever played
My experience
Course was great. Only recommendation is better signage for people who are not familiar with the course. Multiple groups were playing on the wrong hole out of confusion.
Good Course for Money
Mission Trails is a perfect 18 hole track, for the price you pay. It was a windy and cold day, and conditions were not great, but the course is normally a lot of fun.
Good Value. Slow Round
Greens are nice, fairways are pretty rough. Good for the price but they need to space out there tee times a little longer
Fun course, good value
The course is in decent condition. The greens are well tended and moderately day. Biggest drawback is the tee boxes: they are very hard. In many cases I had a great deal of difficulty getting a tee into the ground. The approach to the 17th green is very wet/soggy.
Super slow play
Good layout, nice price but close to 5 hour rounds
This course has definitely improved a lot in the last year. Not very expensive and a decently challenging course for not being very long. Lots of hazards that make you think of your next shot placement. I haven’t experienced a bad pace of play here in almost a year. I play here at least 2 times a month. Definitely recommend.
Staff are easy going and well organized.
