About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2019.
Water Gap Country Club has a dramatically hilly terrain that provides a unique and challenging round of golf. Since opening in the 1920s, the course has played host to a number of major tournaments. The links-style layout features lightning fast, undulating greens and seemingly receptive fairways that are fiercely guarded by mature trees. The elevation changes throughout the golf course guarantee that a flat lie will be hard to find and golfers will have to face several tricky blind shots. Water hazards come into play on five holes and there are also strategically placed bunkers to contend with. Water Gap is formidable test of your shot-making skills to say the least, but there are some birdie opportunities available. The signature hole is the par-3 fourth, which plays from an elevated tee to an elevated green.

Something is going on
Fairways had more crabgrass then grass.
Greens were green and nice, but hard as rocks
Tee boxes in bad shape
Most ball washers didnt even have water.
Hot deal or bust
The biggest complaint about this course is how terrible the tee boxes are maintained. The greens are very good, the fairways are mediocre, and sometimes you can't tell where the fairways end and the rough begins. But I did enjoy the layout of the course. There are certainly a decent amount of challenges throughout, including some blind tee shots and some sloped fairways. There are usually good deals for this course, but if there are no hot deals then look elsewhere.
Finally got to play here.
Good old course but tee box and fairways need work. Greens are in great shape but alittle slow. I would play there again.
Timeless
An old gem that still shines.
THANKS
IT WAS A GREAT VALUE,I THINK I WILL LOOK FOR ANOTHER DEAL
Nice Layout
Some interesting holes; challenging!
Old school
This course has been around for many years, has a feel of the 50's. but has some very interesting holes. not long, but you can get in big trouble if not hitting it straight. The cart paths are in very poor condition. The greens are super slow, need to be rolled and cut. But, I enjoyed the round, will be back when I can get another discount rate.
Nice Layout But Needs Lots of Work
Was in the area on vacation and had never played this course before. The layout was pretty nice with some elevated tees and greens and quite a few unique holes. Unfortunately, the conditions were pretty terrible. Many tees boxes were beat up with bare spots and weeds growing on them. We were told the fairways were just cut the day before, and yet on a majority of the holes, you couldn't tell the difference between the rough and the fairways. Greens were bumpy and slow and you could tell the type of grass on the greens was the issue. We played on a Saturday and one hole had a 4 group backup. While there is a lot of potential here, a big overall needs to be done before I would play here again. I would recommend trying to play any of the other courses in the area before coming here, which is a shame.
Bumpy ride
Cart paths need work and riding the rough was bumpy. The course was in good condition but if you missed the fairway finding your ball was difficult. Stater, cart girl and everyone I met was super friendly . Will come back.
Greens not in great shape...
Perhaps it's just too early in the year. Looked like they had aerated recently and the greens were not in great shape.
The tee boxes are not in great shape either - but they've never been at Water Gap.
I only played here because I got the GolfNow deal... I would definitely not pay $40 to play this course right now... maybe in a couple of months.
A Great course in its day
The course was built in 1922 and it is showing its age. It has an interesting layout and some very challenging holes. It is dated in many respects absent bent grass fairways and sporadic maintenance. In fairness, it is a very good golf value but the course is in need of some TLC.
Nice Course------But
Now I know the season is coming to an end, so I can understand lack of Staff presence. It took about 10 minutes just to check in for our tee time. I rang the bell on counter and still no one around. When we got out to the course I like the layout but leaves all over the place even the greens.(understandable). We stopped after the 10th hole for a quick hot dog and it took 45 min for them to prepare 7 hotdogs with mustard. Then at 4:30pm when we finished our round we unloaded our clubs, brought the carts back, and when we went to the clubhouse to return the keys the whole thing was shut down. Doors were locked, lights were out and no cars in the parking lot. At 4:30!!!!! Hopefully this was just because it is the end of the season because it seemed like it could be a nice course.
Diamond in the Woods
Delaware Country Club saluted our veterans with free greens fees on Veterans Day, so starting out they earned my respect. The course was in excellent shape even playing a day after a massive rain storm pushed thru.. The greens were clean and level but slightly slower than what I am used to, but once you adjusted for speed they rolled true. Fairways were free of leaves and well maintained. After my round the service in the bar was great. The bar tender was polite and food service quick and delicious. I recommend this course for all, the toughest two hole were the 13th and 14th.
Awesome for $15
Can't beat it for the money, great staff cool music/outside bar
FALL Leaves
First time playing the course. Course was nice but a lot of tee boxes were closed so holes were shorter than normal. It's fall so there were a lot of leaves which means a lot of lost balls in bounds. I did see attendants working on removing the leaves from greens and fairways but this course has lots of trees so there were still plenty on the ground. Greens were recently aerated so some putts were redirected. I can't wait to play this course next spring. No food service on Mondays or Tuesdays.
Sorry Shape
Greens had dead areas
Maintenance is lacking
Too many leave on Fairway
Could not find ball in the middle of the fairway.
Tee boxes closed, had to hit from ladies tee's.
john
very nice course especially for price; beautiful location in Appalachian mountain range. course was not in the best shape and tee boxes were in bad shape, but an entertaining course and a great time
Water Gap CC
The T-Boxes were a bit rough, some looked like they were not cut for a week. The course is very hilly not alot of flat lies. I booked on Golf Now for 23 dollars per person which is a definite bang for your buck. Friendly staff, nice greens. I would/will definitely go back.
