Best course in the area
Loved the terrain. River and mountains. No homes (maybe one). Every hole was different and scenic.
Course was in very good condition. Pace if play was great.
We also played Gatlinburg GC and Sevierville GC. All were nice, but this was a very enjoyable course.
Fantastic experience
Outstanding golf experience. Not resort pristine—better. Very well maintained, scenic. Great layout. No two holes alike. Played early, no wait.
Also played Gatlinburg GC and Sevierville. Island Pointe should be your first choice.
First Timer
First time playing Island Pointe and the scenery lived up to the hype. The course is nestled on the river making for a handful of narrow, challenging holes. Got in and out in ~4.5 hours. Well maintained greens and everyone we spoke to was friendly!
Pretty but difficult
Love the beautiful scenery and the conditions. It is tougher than I am good though.
I have not played in this area before. I chose this based on the reviews. Glad I did. Very nice / fair layout greens were awesome. Fairways a bit shaggy although we’re nice. Took longer to play due to catching the awesome views. Will definitely play again.
Great course
Loved this course. It was very challenging and very beautiful. Greens were excellent but as with bermuda hard to read. Would definitely play again the next time im in the area
Great course
Great course for the money. Very challenging and beautiful. Would recommend this course to everyone. Very challenging and lots of fun.
Tennessee Gem
Course was in excellent condition and the customer service great & friendly.
Course design is awesome. ,
Favorite Course
This is my favorite course to play in East TN.
Layout is great, and the greens and fairways are perfect.
Very Interesting
I loved the way this course is laid out along the river. The scenery is beautiful and the holes are very challenging. The course condition was not as good as I expected. It will need some maintenance work over the summer to keep it up. I hope they can bring it back to a 4 star condition.
Avoid this course
Called before leaving for an hour and a half drive to get to the course. Front desk stated that it was not raining and the course is in great shape. When we arrived the rain was coming down steadily, and same front desk was telling another client that it was not raining and the course was great. However we got soaked just getting into the clubhouse. After being told on the phone that we can get a rain check if it was raining when we got there, same design as clerk told me that since we booked online we cannot get a rain check. This is a very dishonest place to do business!
Not Worth $75
I remember this course when it first opened as River Islands. At that time it was a beautiful, lush, green course. This course was dry, and in need of repair.
1) Tee and Distance signs were missing on all but the first two holes.
2) There were no water coolers filled with ice water anywhere on the course.
3) There were no ball washing stations anywhere on the course.
4) The only fairway marker was at 150 yards.
5) The beverage cart girl was extremely pleasant, but the cart itself was a regular golf cart with a single blue igloo cooler on the back. The second time it came around the only option was a half melted Milky Way.
6) We were paired with two other people, strangers, and that takes time to develop a rhythm, We had people behind us when we first encountered a ranger, and that was justified.. The second time, there was no one close behind us and he threatened us, and then sat on top of a hill while we finished the hole. There was not another group within two-holes of us, so we were not holding up play.
This course is obviously shooting for the tourist market in Sevier County, because $75 is highly overrated for a Knoxville course; and most of those are far superior to the dilapidated condition of this course.
We drove out of our way to play this course for Father's Day weekend and that was a mistake. If you are in Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, or Gatlinburg to visit, I recommend you play the Gatlingburg Golf Course at 520 Dollywood Lane, Pigeon Forge, TN.
Very happy
This is a fun and challenging course. The staff was great, the fairways , tee boxes and greens were awesome. The only negative comments were that the sand traps were more dirt than sand and the food truck / beverage truck was not well stocked.
Challenging and well kept
Great course with an amazing staff. Greens were so good a player that was new to the course asked if they were artificial turf. Fairways are fully in and in perfect shape. Plenty of distance from the tips and an excellent course that requires a good bit of shot shaping. My favorite course around Sevierville hands down!
Super layout
Played River tees approximately 6600 yards. Course starts very difficult but eases up after #5. Some great par threes, which two are carry’s over the river. Shot a 37 on back nine with two birdies, three bogeys and three putted two par fives. One of my best 9’s. Course is a bit out of the way but worth the journey.
Great hidden gem
All you want, but very playable for higher handicaps.
Was very pleased with entire experience.
