Great Conditions! Excellent Staff! Birthday Golf -- FREE
To the staff and GM of Tustin Ranch Golf Club -- Bravo! You run a pretty tight ship there, attentive and informed staff, good communication, and friendly.

Played here today in honor of my good friend. This course drips of superior customer service and golf conditions are to die for.
Commercial done. Now for my review.
It's my buddy's birthday today and in honor of it, I checked out the Birthday Golf section on GK to find a suitable place to play. Came across Tustin Ranch and read a few of the reviews. OK there were two things going for it -- FREE Birthday golf and the golf course reviews. Went to the Tustin Ranch website did some additional digging to find out the requirements for FREE Birthday Golf. There are three: (1) registered on their website -- done. (2) show them an ID and viola... FREE Golf on YOUR BIRTHDAY and (3) Be a Member of their club. Since we could easily qualify for 2 out of the 3. I made the decision to call Tustin, get everything confirmed and then make sure we could all play. Easy to navigate their automated phone system and was connected to a friendly starter who took my name and a CC to reserve the time.
Day of the round we show up separately but they (the staff) kept tabs on the group so that when all parties arrived and the tee time came up we were notified and spirited to the first tee. Not bad considering I arrived a little late.
The course was crowded but we did finish in around 4.5-5 hours. Gotta say the course is immaculate. Tee Boxes were flat and well rotated. No wear/tear on these tee boxes and if there were you would really have to be nit picky. Fairways are lush. I mean hit the ball take a divot and it would feel like hitting off a nice pile carpet. Rough is thick and your ball will settle (aka disappear from sight). This happened a number of times. Sand in bunkers is a mix of white sandy beaches (nice and fluffy) and brownish hard packed -- both easy to get your club on the ball so not a problem to get out. Greens are tricky, roll true (no bounce) and fast/med. Speed started to pick up as the temperature amped up over the course of the day. Pace of play was a little slow but it's a Friday. It was packed today. And considering it was packed we did finish in around 4.5-5 hours.
Side note if we did manage to play faster I bet you I wouldn't have felt so tired after the round. There isn't a lot of shade around any of the tee boxes.
Now the golf carts are state of the art in my opinion. Seats are comfortable; not benches but good well-designed seats. The onboard computer and navigation is excellent. Run the cart into a no-go area and it shuts off and you must hit reverse until you get to an area where you are allowed. You even get CART PATH ONLY announcements. Now folks who know me know I champion charging stations for our phones on the cart. Apps today suck the living juice out of your phone lickety split. This baby had not one but TWO USB ports. Just plug in and keep that baby charged.
Bottom line folks would I play here again? It's pricey admittedly, but I feel a little excess is a good thing once in a while. This would definitely be a course I would play again. Good Luck!
Love it
Everything about this place is first class.
Greens were 11+ and perfect
Will be back 100%
Weird
Showed up to a tee time I booked on golf now and didn’t realize I needed a collard shift. They charged me the greens fee THEN reminded me I needed one. I asked if it was okay to play without one and they said no. They said they could refund me, and proceeded to do so. I asked for a basketball of balls to hit on the range, then they said they couldn’t actually refund me the greens fee the initially said they would. So I said I’ll just go ahead and play and buy a shirt. Then they tried to charge me again after they said they couldn’t honor the refund.
Policy is fine. Execution of the policy is terrible.
HIDDEN GEM DON’T TELL ANYONE!
Hidden gem in Tustin, and I found it on GolfNow and decided to book it based on the reviews. When I first drove up, I thought it was a private country club. The entire layout gave me that vibe course is in great condition, and every green is a table top and super tough if you don’t hit your approach shots in the right spot. Don’t feel like you need to hit Driver on every hole because he don’t. This is a course for golfers that need to hit and play shots and be strategic about managing the golf course. I had a lot of fun and I will be coming back very soon.
Course conditions
I played this course a few years back and was unhappy with course conditions. Today I played for the first time since because I heard there was a new superintendent and wanted to give it another shot. I was beyond pleased. The course conditions were fantastic. I passed the superintendent on the golf course (who was very nice) and told him how amazing the place looked. Him and his crew have done a great job. I will be back to play again thanks to the turn around on the course conditions.
Tustin Ranch
Staff and conditions were very good.
The PACE of play was very, very slow.... 2nd time I have played there, and 2nd time very slow play. The starter pushed several two some's out alone. Marshall told us we were not playing slow but we finished in almost 5 yours... not happy .
Not worth $160+
This course needs attention, and fast. Multiple tee boxes in sand, crabgrass everywhere, painted dead fairways and the greens were more damaged than any course I could remember….no true rolls.
This is a $50 course wrapped in a $175 weekend price, avoid.
Staff super friendly, not a reflection of them.
Slowwwww
This course should not take 6 hours to complete the round! We left after 4 hours after 9 holes. Marshalls we’re useless and non existent.
Expected more for the $
Fairways needed work and the greens had several divots. Course layout was challenging and the green tiers were crazy. Clubhouse, driving range and driving into facilities were nice. Has plenty of potential.
Quality Course!
Had a 420 p.m. twilight tee time. Fun course that me and a couple other people finished just under the cover of darkness! Great, challenging course layout with beautiful landscapes and excellent views on every hole. The greens at Tustin Ranch are amongst the most difficult in all of Orange County. Aside from only a couple greens being spotty, they run quick and cannot remember any green not having less than two tiers to it, so having a quality short game is a must! Although a little pricier than some similar courses, would definitely recommend playing this course if given the opportunity.
Good course but awful players
I love this course and have been playing at least once a week for the past months. I played there with my son and the pace of play was slow but now awful. But the four-some behind us were annoying because they played as if the two-some in front of them were invisible. They hit the balls right away we finished our second or third shots within 20-30 yards distance. I usually play the blue tee but yesterday played the white as the tee boxes got crowded in par 3 halls with 2-3 teams lining up in that area. I just wanted to allow enough waiting room for the players behind us. But they put their balls on a tee while I was preparing my tee shots. The others in the carts showed no decency either as they talked loudly exclusively enjoying their time. At one of those tee boxes I asked for their cooperation only to no avail. Thank you gentlemen for showing my son the worst golf manner not to be learned. The tuituin was expensive green fees and several bad tee shots on my side. Never want to cross this people again, but if I do in the near future, I would let them go first for the peace of my mind.
