This course has a lot of potential

Got a good deal to get off early in the AM before the heat set in. Course has no starter and the restaurant was closed so basically just the pro shop person and the cart person on staff. Greens are very well cared for and there are water stations at many holes. Only porta potties available on the courts and there is minimal shade due to a limited amount of trees. We played 18 holes in 3 hours and had the group behind us hot on our tails as well.

Back for another early round

Teed off again today about 6:20 for 20 bucks. Grass and fairways are up to protect against the heat but things are in good shape. I did not have the round I had hoped to have but this was an excellent deal on a fun course to play.

Beat the heat, sort of

Teed off at about 6:20 by myself in a cart. One other guy was ahead of me. Grass was longish and the greens were fuzzy in defence of the 116F afternoon heat, but it was an absolute pleasure to play at this time of the day. I paid $20 and will come back this week, partially for the value and partially to correct my late round collapse leading to the dreaded “sister kisser” 81.

See the Little Things

Yes, it’s the middle of summer in Palm Springs and it’s HOT! The course is holding up well but the maintenance crew needs to focus on the little things that convey to golfers that they care. Edge the grass on cart paths, sweep rocks and sand off of paths, put water in the club washers on the range, etc. The staff is welcoming and helpful. It’s a fun, challenging layout. I always have a good time here but they just need to go that extra mile to set this course apart from others in the area.

Good Time...Except...

Father’s Day round with my son, brother, and girl. Have played here numorous times, without a problem. This time the greens were just punched, guessing within the last few days, but when booked there was no mention of it. Used the Golf Now app to book, deal wasn’t that good, to play sandy punched greens. It’s Palm Spring!! Lots of courses to choose from for the same price. Good time anyway. Carts have to be back by 7! Didn’t know that, and we lost a half hour by a cart dying at the furthest point away from where you get carts. So we didn’t get to play 17-18. Not a big deal, just would of been nice to know that the greens are just punched. It’s early summer, so wil give it a few and go back I’m sure.

Full Disclosure?

played the course many times, one of my favorites. But today, course should not have been open A thick layer of sand on all greens made putting impossible-a waste of time what's worse, I was not informed of this beforehand. overall, a little better than the range, but that's it.

Boulder

Rode the Blacks (6782/71.6/122) as a single in 2H, 45M twilight. The weather was clear, breezy and 109. Adding 450 yards from the Blues I normally play in a consistent 1-2 club wind significantly adds to the challenge. Cimarron is reasonably wide open, flat with few forced carries, not overly tough for the average golfer. I enjoy this course as a change of pace, a solid mid level alternative for the Palm Springs area, usually in decent shape. Tees, fairways and rough all have good coverage, semi lush with a few brown/thin areas due to the heat. The traps had decent sand, but contain too many rocks and unraked areas The greens were firm and putted medium speed with few ball marks. A few are beginning to get crusty with the heat. Several fringes have been punched recently. The customer service was good, quick efficient check-in. All grass driving range. Plenty of water stations on the course. No drink cart or Marshall, I only saw one other 2some playing this afternoon. Recommended.
