Muni
Course is in great shape. Greens still need work, but are playable. Just need to have an etiquette class.
Course is dry, but playable. Pace of play is atrocious and slow players are allowed to liter the course. The other thing is the water coolers are mostly empty on a day where the city broke a 122 year old record for heat. Instead of picking up trash while the course is full of players, they should be more concerned with filling the water coolers or providing a beverage cart.
HOT Golf
The course was in good shape even during this heat wave. The new Golf Carts are a great addition.
Hot Day!
The course is dry, but the grass is cut, for the most part. Greens are good, but do have some rough spots. With a little water, this course could be really good.
Double Book online and in-person bookings
I would not recommend booking online or In-person during mornings unless you don’t mind playing with people you don’t know. The course I’m a member of had a tournament this weekend so I thought it would be fun playing a round at muni since I haven’t played it in years. I grew up not far from it so I played it a lot as a kid and young adult. Made tee time in-person on a Thursday for a Saturday morning tee time. Be and my buddy check in with the Marshall about 45 minutes before the tee time and was told that they added the golfnow booking group with us. Looked on his tee sheet and he did that for a bunch of other groups as well. I told him I made the booking in-person and asked why they don’t update golfnow when those situations are done. He said they don’t. I don’t know that pair they grouped us with and they don’t know us. My buddy and I are descent handicaps and we were going to play from the tips. What if this group played from senior or one up and what if their handicap was high and now things are slowed up. Not knocking them, but this could cause a major slow down. That group wasn’t there at the same time for us to ask. I asked if he could just stagger us since there is a 10 minute interval between tee times. We were quickly shut down on that. I’m a fan of promoting things on the northside of Lafayette, but it pains me to NOT recommend this course during peak times. I asked at bookings if it was ok for me to tee off with myself and someone else and they said it was. If they would have mentioned that they combine online and in-person bookings pairs, I wouldn’t have made the tee time and not wake up as early as I did. We ended up canceling my tee time and went home.
Course layout is very confusing
The course was ok the layout was very confusing with several holes near to each other also was very busy at the time of play. The greens looked bad but played fast . Was hard to get a rhythm with so many people playing .
Slow walkers
Were behind two groups that included walkers who were slow
Good Value
Fairways were adequate. Greens were long, but rolled and surprisingly faster than they appeared. They cater to juniors and I love that. Layout is not difficult, but like anywhere there are a few hidden areas to avoid (water hazards). Once you know the course, it is easy to manage your distances. Just go enjoy it. Each time I go, I meet a few more nice people.
Great round
Great weather, course was solid . Other golfers are laid back, it’s a great atmosphere.
