Needs more Carts and longer between tee-times.
We played Tahquitz Creek last time in Palm Springs several years ago and quite enjoyed it. Not so much this time.
The place was HEAVING! we struggled to find a bay for the Practice Range..
We were then told that they were running half an hour behind on tee-off times.
It was obvious. There were too many golfers for the number of available carts.
Gaps between tee-times were 7 or 8 minutes, so with 2 courses and 4 per group and a 4-hour round, they need 130 carts minimum. My guess?
They are 8-10 carts short.
Starter was least friendly of any of the local courses.
Practice Bays and Course were obviously over-played and had suffered some flood damage, albeit being (partially) repaired.
Good course, challenging
It was a good golf course to play with a nice variety of holes. In good condition considering the damages caused by the February storms. Ho le #9 still in rough condition, but glad it was open for playing.
For a first time player at the course, I really enjoyed the layout of the course as well as the fairways being kept up nicely. Due to the conditions of some of the holes getting damaged by all the rain, I still say that it played fair to any kind of golfer.
Avoid at that price
On arrival, the stater explained that holes 1 10 and 14 were heavily damaged.
He should have added the 9th.
Dried mud instead of grass does not justify the price.
The pace of play was awfully slow. There were three groups on tee off at 8th, same at nine
We ecided to quit after the 8th, having been there for 2 hours and 20 minutes already.
We feel we were robbed.
Awful and slow
The starter explained that holes 1 10 and 14 were heavily damaged. I would add that the 9th was also very bad. The course was in poor condition.
Pace of play was very slow. Three foursomes wait on holes 8 and 9. We quit after 8 holes, having spent 2 hours and 20 minutes already.
They try to book too many tee times.
Very slow play. If you want 5+hour round book here, but I won't be playing here again
Back 9 and Breakfast
My flight was leaving at 11:00 am so I took advantage of the Back 9 and Breakfast promotion for $29. I was the first one out and zipped around in a little over an hour. This is a pleasant course that was a good finale to the long weekend.
Not bad considering the heavy rains
This is a very basic course design but fine for all levels of play. The course has experienced some heavy damage after unusual torrential rains and the driving range was very rough. Starter and marshalls, very nice folks.
25 minutes lat
7 minutes between tee times is crazy. With 24 minutes delay, there were a lot of people standing around and golf bags everywhere. You’re not sure who are players. They don’t have enough power carts to service two courses. There was announcement of the players names. So everyone crowded the starters to check when they could go out. This is not free play. We paid our fees in advance. The club was very disorganized. Everyone has to wait for power carts to be returned. My tee time was 12:45. We went out at 13:10.
We were told to be at the club at least half hour before tee time, but no one advise us the delay. Driving range was full, putting green were busy. Unless you want to eat in the restaurant, there is nowhere to sit to wait for your tee off. I stood one 1:08 hours before I could sit down in a power cart. I was tired before I even started to play.
I’ll NOT play Tahquitz Creek again. “You paid peanuts, you get monkeys” as they said. Don’t go for cheap or twilight tee times.
Good course management
Had an 8:45 tee time and was told there would be an hour frost delay. Went to the range hit a small bucket. The starter then asked us if we were ready and sent us out between groups playing in a shotgun start. What a great idea!. Played the front nine in 2 hours 15 minutes and the back nine in an hour. Look forward to playing here again
A Beautiful Day at the Golf Course
A frost delay of one hour was in place when we arrived early afternoon....however, after we checked in, the marshall told us we could prepare for tee off since they wanted to keep things going and we were there....I like that since they didn't want anybody having to wait....we had full sun, it was cool but perfect for golf, and the course was in great shape....the pace of play was very good.
My experience at Tahquitz
Except for a frost delay my experience was good. Starters were very patient.
Very busy course
When we arrived we were a bit taken aback by the crowds! We were informed that the range was closed for maintenance. When we expressed our disappointment, he promised us that they'd open it up as soon as they could. We used the short game practice area, and then were informed that the range was indeed open. We purchased a couple of small buckets to warm up with. We started close to on time, but there was a small wait at each tee box, and we finished just before dark. The par 3s are definitely a challenge - some were 200 yards from the white tees! All in all a bargain tee time, but too crowded for our tastes.
Well run public facility
Had a great time, beautiful busy day and it was an enjoyable 4 1/2 hours on a good course that was nicely maintained.
