Great course for a great price!
Had a great time on this course, I believe it is the more difficult of the two. Greens were just punched but a great day regardless!
great course
conditions were much better than a few months prior its a great course that is not over ran with housing due to the economy.
Diablo Grande, Patterson, CA.
Two excellent challenging and sufficiently different courses, passionately maintained to country club standards by Troon Golf. Professional staff, quality conditions, warm welcoming clubhouse, make this a must trip from any distance.
If you can..Spend the day..Play both courses..Enjoy great food.
Challenging layout
This course is fair but has a lot of trouble you can get into if you hit a poor shot or make a bad decision. In excellent shape.
This course is the best in the central valley
I play Diablo Grande (both Legends and Ranch) at least once per month. The greens, FWs, and tee boxes are always in great condition and the staff and professionalism is second to none. Not many golf courses at their rates will provide such great service- they even provide you with a cooler pre-filled with ice so you can stash whatever beverages you want in there!
Out of the dozens of times I have played here, I rarely had to unreasonably wait for other golfers in front of me to finish up the hole. The club does a great job of providing ample interval times so golfers could get out to the 1st tee and keep a smooth rhythm all the way to the 18th green.
Marshalls and food staff on the course are also pleasant and make sure players are comfortable and well fed.
For beautiful scenery, play Legends. For a challenge, play the tight/narrow FWs of Ranch.
Best value for golf in Northern California
The fairways were showing a little brown from the heat but the course was in good shape, overall. Usually the greens are medium fast (which I like). They were slower than usual which made me miss some easy putts.
What a deal
This was my first time here but I was very impressed and could not have been more pleased with this place. In spite of the 101 degree weather it sure was fun. Thank you Diablo Grande for a great time.
Beautiful, pristine conditions
what a challenge, hope you have a great chipping game.
Really enjoy making the hour drive to get out of the city and play here
I really enjoy a course that doesn't have a lot of road noise and other distractions. Also there are two 18 hole courses here that wind through the hills and have elevation changes that make it interesting. You will see wild life roaming around occasionally which is nice. The courses are wll maintained and staff is friendly.
Diablo is a very good course at a fair price.
A somewhat challenging course set in relative isolation of the hills. No houses on the fairways and very few side-by-side fairways, which creates a great golf atmosphere. Pace of play was a little slow. Never saw a course marshall all day, which may have helped the pace as the foursome two parties ahead was consistently behind a couple of holes. I would play it again and would recommend it.
Great
A great course, 2 courses at the property, Legend is more open than Ranch. Both are great courses. fairways are fairly wide open, not too many trees or hazards come into play. Good course for beginners and advanced players. My only gripe is the front nine does not wind back to clubhouse, at the turn there is a little snack bar, but I have not seen it open in a couple of years. So bring something with you or buy from the drink cart.
Great layout, lost it's teeth
The Legends at Diablo Grande used to be a really great course. It's a great layout but they have made it easier to play for the average golfer. The long rough is mowed short hardly different from the fairway. The long native grass has been mowed down to nothing, the real nasty stuff in the "almost hazard" areas has been cleaned out and the little creeks are dry. I think the idea was to make the course more playable for everyone, speed up play and get more play. I guess that's good, but they removed a lot of the challenge of the original design. The greens are still pretty good, the fairways have some bare spots, overall I think they are probably hurting a bit and not able to spend as much as they need on maintenance.
Still a nice layout and it's in pretty good shape, more muni-ish than it used to be.
Course is always good
Man was it warm on the fourth of July. But all was well, played early and for all the heat we have had for the last week. The course was in great shape.
Wide open and interesting
The Legends course is wider, nicer, and more interesting than the Ranch, but also more crowded. I played both courses.
The greens are smooth, but tough to read. The wind swirls through the hills and makes club selection difficult.
If it wasn't so far away, I'd come down and play both courses again.
Very nice track!!
. Overall great course if you can take the Central Valley heat. Gets really hot starting about 11am. Club Pro was very helpful explaining the course layout I think it helped keep score down.
The course is very challenging & beautiful.
This course is very challenging. It's got some good water hazards. It you don't stay in the fairways, you'll be in trouble. It makes you play smart golf especially if the wind is blowing. It is a beautiful course with lush green fairways and smooth greens that are tricky to read.
Golfing on Mother's day for twenty bucks
Greens were firm but otherwise course in very good shape.
Best Bargain in region
When this course opened, amid much fanfare, it was a $90 round and there were promises of a third a even fourth course on the sprawling property. That came before water issues halted growth, then the housing bust killed all growth in the area. Through it all, the two courses at Diablo Grande have survived. Now managed by Troon Golf, they've become the best value in the region. Of the two, the Legends is my favorite. Very fair, but your chances to score increase with ever play, since it's very important to know where to hit it off the tee. There's ample room in the fairways, but they're canted, and strategic bunkering around many of the greens limits your access if you're driven it to the wrong side of the fairway. Greens always in good shape - fast and firm, but always receptive. Can't remember the last time the bunkers were in good shape, but they're not awful. Weekday $35 rate w/cart is a true bargain equal to anything in the area. My recent 5-hour round on a Saturday was an aberration. Although it's probably close to the norm for a weekend, I generally cruise around in about 3:15 on weekdays. Excellent, roomy bar and high-quality restaurant connected to understocked pro shop. Limited range (mats, no drivers) is a place to warm-up, but you can't work on your game there. Separate $5 charge for range access. The Legends course at Diablo Grande has become my go-to course in the area and I probably play here 15-20 times a year. One warning - if you hit the ball in the brush, take a club with you and watch for snakes while you listen for the rattle.
Fun course
Really fun and challenging course. Hope u like sand if u go there cause there is a lot of it. Overall fun course defiantly will go back again.
Most Fun Playing In A Long Time!
Got off on a bad start but finished the 1st Nine on the Legends West Course with my best score in years if not ever.
The 11th, 14th holes tore me up. Sand on 18 was not my day.
Just had loads of fun with 3 nice young men from Fremont who were also playing this course for the first time. Really enjoyed playing most of the holes.
