Have played the Palmer a few times but first time at Saddlebrook. A shorter but more challenging course with a a good use of dog legs, bunkering and water to make up for the length. The course was recently overseeded so there was no roll to speak of but overall it was in pretty good shape and sure in a week or two it will be running firm and fast again. Great staff, definitely recommend the course.
Disapppointing. Many bad greens
The course had been recently overseeded. Nice fairways. But many of the greens were in poor shape. The 1st hole green was nearly unplayable. Dont drive any distance to play here.
Great Day Great Course
This is a great Resort with 2 totally differentnd and challenging courses. Always a fun day with a great staff and services.
Beautiful place with terrible greens
I lower the score for course condition, because greens were terrible. Very, very slow. They look like grass on greens were not cut. Course layout and everything else was almost perfect.
Stay Away (for two weeks)
Course was over-seeded; tees fairways and greens.
Greens were un-puttable, Rye not cut and unplayable.
Cart path or rough only. Give the course a couple of weeks to grow in and mowed unless you just want to frustrate yourself.
Very Disappointed; will not play again
I have played Saddlebrook Palmer Course many times and today took friends out to play the Saddlebrook Course. What a big mistake. The greens were horrible and several tee boxes were not the best as well. We all were very disappointed in the course and although most would consider a golf now price of $45 as a steal, at most the price should have been $25. I will not go back anytime soon.
Great layout. Special holes. Nice conditions. Played 18 in 3:10.
Greens in poor condition. Tee boxes and fairways good.
Half the greens are in terrible condition. Played this course months ago during rainy season and they were no where near this bad. Today the greens were either decent or just plain unputtable. I’d be really upset if I stayed at the resort and this is what you’d pay for, but luckily I live close by. Hopefully they can get these greens back to conditions worthy of a resort. Tee boxes and fairways were good to excellent. Very tight golf course and deceptively long from the back tees. This course is all about the tee shots. Can’t stray too far off, but still fun.
Course is in awesome shape
Whenever I can get Saddlebrook on sale, it’s well worth it! The course was in fantastic shape from tee box to greens.
Fairways in great condition. Greens were punched about 1-2 weeks ago but they were still covered with a layer of sand and did not hold or roll well. Staff was friendly and positive. This was my second time here and would prefer to self park; not because I'm cheap but I just don't want to rush getting my gear out of the car, get my shoes on, and make sure I have everything...touch with valets patiently waiting for you to clear out of your vehicle...
Very good course and improving.
Staff could not be more courteous. Course in very good condition. Greens, fairways and tee boxes all well maintained.
A Little Disappointed
I will say the course was wet. This is a great layout and if they weren't so waterlogged, the fairways and tees would be in excellent shape. But the greens were really disappointing-quite a bit of baldness and one green would be super fast and the next would be very slow. All the greens are hard as a rock and they don't hold incoming shots well, even high ones. The pace of play was very slow-snails were laughing as they were passing us, as we waited on every hole. One of my main criticisms of this place is that the drinking water here is awful. They have water fountains that barely project past the spigot and most of the refrigeration units aren't working well. The water also has a slightly metallic taste. Even the "cheap" golf courses in the area, like Silverado, Plantation Palms and Lake Bernadette have lots of water kegs with ice cold water. This is a "resort" and they should do a much better job with that. If you're chugging beers all day, I guess that will not be a problem for you.
A vacation vibe
Saddlebrook course and resort makes you feel like you are on vacation. The pro shop could not be more welcoming and accommodating to you. The pool area and grill area outside the pro shop made you feel like you were on a vacation. The golf was challenging on the Saddlebrook course. The condition was lush throughout and they are planning on improving it this summer.. Great golf and people here!
Excellent Golf Course
For our first time at Saddlebrook it was a fantastic experience. The staff could not have been more friendly, helpful and encouraging as these were! The community, amenities and golf course were unbelievably awesome and beautiful! We would love to play here again.
Course conditions were horrible
At least 5 or 6 of the greens required major repair. It was like putting on dirt with intermittent grass. The course should have been closed. To make matters worse, there was no mention of these conditions on GN when I booked the course, otherwise I would have not played it.
The course is scheduled to be closed on 1 Jun through 31 August for major renovations, but it is a day late and several dollars short.
Don’t pay full price if you can help it.
It’s Saddlebrook, well known for being a luxurious golf course. While it met expectations, recent punching of the greens on the Palmer Course left them sandy and slow. Course layout is ok. A few very skinny greens that are hard to stick. Renovations coming soon to the course so you’ll be able to get cheaper golf for a few months. It’s worth doing every once in a while. Found my round for $57/person on hot deals thru GolfNow.
Beautiful course fairways were in mint condition greens were amazing besides 4 of the 18 which were in pretty bad shape but the management team is taking care of that in a few weeks. I'm definitely going back.
