The Saddlebrook Resort boasts 36 holes of championship golf designed by Arnold Palmer. The resort sprawls across 480 acres of lush, rolling hills covered with groves of tall cypress trees and swaying palms that weave through sparkling blue lagoons. The Saddlebrook Course is the tighter and flatter of the two courses at the resort but the layout offers a mix of wide and narrow fairways. Palmer equipped the layout with beautifully designed par 4s and par 5s framed with moss-draped cypresses. Water is a more prominent feature on this golf course with ponds and lakes coming into play on 14 holes. There are also more than 50 sand bunkers that are strategically placed along the greensides and near the landing zones on a few of the doglegs. The course has a memorable finish with a lengthy par 4 that doglegs right with water all along the right side.

BEAUTIFUL

This place was great. Perfectly manicured. Only negative is that the practice facility is like 1-2 miles from the course so you have to stop there, unload, warm up, then get everything back in your car and drive to the actual course. Other than that, they have valets to take you from your car to the pro shop, a dude showed up in the middle of the round to give us bottled water, and the whole staff was very nice.

Great course but lesser of the two

Now that I have finally played both of the courses at Saddlebrook I can firmly say that I prefer the Palmer course. That is not to say that the Saddlebrook course isn't a fine course in itself but I feel that it lacks the character that the Palmer course has to over. First of all it is tighter from the tee. There are numerous holes where you're hitting through a narrow shoot and that can lead to some lost balls. The fairways were cut very nice and mostly in good shape. The odd part is that there has been very little rain in the past 2 weeks and the course still had spots that were extremely wet. This didn't take away from play because there weren't that many. The thing I was most disappointed with was the speed of the greens. It might have been because of wet conditions but the greens seemed to be shaggy and slow, much slower than expected anyways. It was a bit frustrating because I felt like the greens on the back nine were a different speed than the front so that was an adjustment. The course allows walkers after 2:00 and I made y turn after 2 so I got to walk my back nine. Very walk-able course. The main reason I have a better time on the Palmer course is because I feel like the Saddlebrook course lacks the character the Palmer course has. Less memorable holes. All in all, it was a great course and Id play it again but I would much rather play the Palmer.

Swamp land

Not Saddlebrook’s fault. 14 inches of rain in 12 days. Saddlebrook was Cary path only and then closed. We played Palmer which was 90 degrees and a bit drier. Nice layout.

Great course conditions

First time to play the Saddlebrook course. It is in great shape and I look forward to playing it again. Darn near immaculate conditions. My only hesitation to play either course at Saddlebrook is the awkward feeling of having to tip 3-4 times, e.g., valet parking, shuttle cart to pro shop, cart guys, and shuttle back to the valet -- it would be nice to have 1 tip box (not including the wonderful gal driving the beverage cart).

Very nice course layout - Saddlebrook

We've played the Palmer once before and it was nice, but the Saddlebrook course is very pretty and challenging. Narrow fairways surrounded by tropical looking trees and wildlife made for a challenging but fun day of golf. They are working on about 1/3 of the greens which made some of them 'odd' but overall that didn't impact our enjoyment of the day. We'll go back...it's a nice place with many amenities.

Greens on the Saddlebrook course was horrible

Wasn't worth $39. 5 greens were gone. Don't go there unless you call them first

A Bit Disappointing

We have played here before. There are 2 beautiful courses in a beautiful neighborhood. The Saddlebrook course was largely deserted and we played quickly. The tees and fairways were in very good condition, worth 4 stars. But you score on the greens and in general, they were sub standard. About 1/2 the greens were in good condition, although they were very slow. But MANY of them had some sort of top dressing, were not cut and were ridiculously choppy and bumpy. There was even one hole with a temporary green. These conditions were not published on GolfNow, nor were we told before we teed off. Either they had an incredibly busy winter and the course was badly beaten up, or the maintenance was not done well enough. We play all the courses in the area, and NONE had greens as rough as some of these.

This is still a great golf destination, but you should be aware of the conditions. We played the Saddlebrook course, and it's possible that the Palmer Course may have very different conditions.

Don’t bother

8 greens were repaired and/or top dressesd and the other greens were dead slow. Fairways were good to fair but not outstanding. Wouldn’t recommend at this time.

Greens were slow and still growing

The greens were overseeded a while ago and are still filling in. They still need some time to fill in and cut on a regular basis. It seems that due to the traffic on the course, the Saddlebrook course is not regrowing at a quick enough pace.It will come but it will take time. Overall, still not in too bad of shape. Will be better when the growing is done.

Course in maintenance

The course is in maintenance. The greens are awful. The Saddlebrook at $55 does not worth the money.
If you have the chance play the Palmer course.

4Guys from Scotland

Where to start without being mean, course has a good reputation as a great layout which it has but the condition of the course is shocking from the first patchwork green and i mean patchwork !,the fourth green well what is left of it they would have been better just putting the flag on the fairway, now nothing was mentioned about the course before we teed off, another corporate crap hole one of the worst i have played in Florida oh and i have played a lot here.

Great day

Enjoyed a beautiful day on the second of the two Saddlebrook courses. found this course quite a bit tougher than the Palmer course. Much faster greens on the Palmer. Great staff and a quick stop at the sports bar for a couple of apps and beers topped off a great, day
