The Saddlebrook Resort boasts 36 holes of championship golf designed by Arnold Palmer. The resort sprawls across 480 acres of lush, rolling hills covered with groves of tall cypress trees and swaying palms that weave through sparkling blue lagoons. The Saddlebrook Course is the tighter and flatter of the two courses at the resort but the layout offers a mix of wide and narrow fairways. Palmer equipped the layout with beautifully designed par 4s and par 5s framed with moss-draped cypresses. Water is a more prominent feature on this golf course with ponds and lakes coming into play on 14 holes. There are also more than 50 sand bunkers that are strategically placed along the greensides and near the landing zones on a few of the doglegs. The course has a memorable finish with a lengthy par 4 that doglegs right with water all along the right side.

Astounds me that we have to carry our own bags 200 yards from valet to the tee ourselves. Why don’t they take them for you. Took forever to get 2 hotdogs at the turn. After schlepping our bags back to the valet again, wandered around for 5 minutes holding my valet ticket looking for someone to give it too only to discover that the unlabeled little hole in the wall was for valet. Expected much better service for what I believed to be a 4 star resort. Money better spent at Innisbrook.

If you waited a minute they would have shuttled you the 200 yards to and from the valet... and THEN the valet would have brought your car because they would have known you were there.... Innisbrook... yeah... go there for twice the price and snob appeal... you appear to need it...

Staff very friendly, course was in good condition pretty tight but fair. The greens were firm and half were dried up a bit but you could tell they were working on them. Overall a soild course. Pay attention to the starter the range seemed like a half mile away.

Pace of play was exceptional. Staff was really nice and friendly. Course condition was fair. Greens grass was in transition from winter rye to bermuda; some greens really nice and not so nice. Majority of playwas on the Palmer course. Looked like some type of outing. Also may have been in better condition. For us it was still nice to have our own golf course and hit another ball when we hit a bad one

Now I'm a stickler for a course having great greens, all of them. For a resort course a few of the greens needed 911. Come on, you want me to pay high prices at least give me what I deserve. The layout is interesting and inviting, some holes are darn right sexy and me likes that a lot. I think the carts should have the pin placements on them not the scorecards, if you are far sighted bring your glasses. Overall everyone was pleasant, there's a cart guy who needs to bring the volume down a few notches, I would consider him bothersome, even his co-workers agreed. Great day and we played on a Tuesday so the pace of play was spot on. I might to go back in the summer when hopefully saddlebrook will have their act together with the greens.

The best thing I can say about any course is that I had fun playing it, and that was certainly the case with Saddlebrook's original Saddlebrook Course. This older Palmer design has tons of character. I remembered every hole, and while having to "think on every shot" isn't necessarily a virtue for me, in this case, I didn't have to overthink it. The reason being is that while driver isn't the smartest play on every non-par-3 hole for every player, it was available on most if you were willing to take the chance, and I felt pretty confident with the driver. Also, this is anything but a pushover. Don't let the 6,500 yards from the tips fool you; there is plenty of length on many of the holes -- like the 200-yard-plus par-3 third -- but it's balanced out by some really good short par 4s. And there are only two par 5s, so it's a par 70 that plays plenty long, so it's a championship test. Play this course well, and I think you can play anywhere.

After a nice game of golf, the experience was ruined by the RUDE cart boy. His rude behavior towards us aimed directly at my wife's NFL golf bag was totally uncalled for with additional rude comments. We normally do not complain, however, we felt a telephone call to management was warrented. After a voice mail or two, with no contact with us, we can only believe this behavior is condoned. Please remember, when working with the public, one NEVER knows who they come in contact with at any time.

Played it on a cool day early after frost delay. Understandably quiet and we played a speedy 3+ hour round. Course is in great shape after fall overseeding complete and regular cutting every day. Overall a very enjoyable experience after sun warmed up. Not excited about valet parking arrangements and pricey refreshments from the beverage cart..which give her credit she was on the course at 10:00 A.M.
