Lots of grass, beautiful greens!!
A pleasure, don't miss it if you have a chance to play!!
Still My Favorite New Mexico Course
I've played this course many times before, but yesterday the fairways needed mowed. They may have had a lot of rain lately, keeping them from mowing the fairways. They were also mowing one of the fairways yesterday.
Into Thin Air!
I think most golfers remember some courses over other courses for good & bad reasons. I think this one will be remembered for good reasons. At over 9,000 ft elevation, you won't find many higher than this one. The first thing that jumps out at you is the elevation changes. The 1st tee to green drops 150 ft!. You'll be impressed with the views on every hole and you may be sucking gas as you move along the course because it's cart path only! Fortunately, it's a fairly short layout. They fairways are generally spotty due to the elev. & rain. However, the greens are generally in very good condition but putt pretty slow. Only a few sand Bunkers on course and they were OK. Paths need some work in many places but they are functional. Overall, a very memorable golf experience. And by the way, the restaurant in the Lodge Inn next to the course is excellent!
Beat the Heat
I like to play The Lodge Course a few times a Summer. A great place to beat the heat of the desert. About 16 degrees cooler in the mountains. Also a fun, relaxing place to play and the thin air adds a few extra yards off the tee. Everyone should play here at least once.
Beautiful place
Must stay at the lodge on your visit, also visit the tower in the lodge. We didn't see Rebecca!! Golf was great as well as the lodge. We will go back!
high country golf
one of a kind golf experience, I like to play here because its fun
Beautiful area
Course is beautiful and real fun, especially for older people. Par is only 34 for each 9 holds.
fun course
Fun course to play. Love the first hole. Only hole with separate greens but such a challenge. 250 yards down hill playing 180 and 190 yards as number then number 10. Numbers 9 and 18 are straight up hill and I've yet to play this hole at par. Had 5 birdies on this course today. Lots of fun just can't seem to conquer that hole. O well some day. The staff very friendly. Very nice. Not a course to walk unless your in good shape. Did see one person walking. Course sets at 9000 feet.
Great place to play
We always enjoy playing The Lodge. Course was in great condition and staff was friendly.
Must play course
If you have never played this course it is a must play. You won't find another course like this around with all the elevation changes. It plays short, and can make some good scores on a few holes. Hole 1 has a 150 ft drop! I have played this course for many years and play it every summer. Some summers have better course conditions than others but it is always in good shape compared to courses around. Don't pass this course up because it only has nine holes. You play the old Scottish links style of two tee boxes and two pins on every hole. It's currently the 7th highest golf course in the world.
if my friend and i wanted two separate carts, one for me and her, will they let us? can we have our own carts?
