Tucked away in the beautiful Ft. Caroline area near Jacksonville, Hidden Hills Country Club stands on a historic battleground that witnessed the fierce struggles between France and Spain and continued into golf history with searing competition during the heyday of the Greater Jacksonville Open. The 6,892-yard private golf course, built in 1966 on an ancient sand dune, was redesigned by Arnold Palmer in 1986. Palmer's creativity helped create a championship-caliber golf course unmatched in natural beauty that makes excellent use of rare hilly terrain to create a unique Florida golf challenge. The fairways are lined with majestic pines and stately oaks, and the unpredictable greens have helped Hidden Hills gain the reputation of being one of the most challenging courses in North Florida. Sharp doglegs, strategic placement of water hazards and putting surfaces that are mostly elevated serve up a mighty test for the low handicapper. Approaches are narrow and many of Hidden Hills Country Club's greens are well bunkered. Hidden Hills has a rating of 74.0 from the championship tees, and the slope rating is 136.

Great course in Jacksonville

The course offered a good, challenging layout. Greens rolled true and were pure for the most part. Conditions were good, but had some areas for improvement. Excellent practice facility. Friendly staff.

Hidden Hills - Hidden Gem

The course has challenging holes with risk - reward holes. The elevation changes in the course makes it very different than most courses in Jacksonville. The staff could not be more service oriented. The pace of play was alright but bottle necked after about the 12th hole. It is one of Jacksonville's best kept secret.

Hills and great drainage

Sandy hills make for good summer golf. Driest course we have played in two weeks. Good condition and nice design.

HHGC

Hidden Hills is a gem. Great layout and quite long from the blue tees. Course conditions were very good, although several greens were dry and several had sand spots. It made getting a read on the greens from one green to another almost impossible. But otherwise, they were in good condition.

Layout is good, but do they ever cut the course??

Conditions were horrid. Clear that they are running out of money and can’t afford maintance crew. Could be a good track if someone injected 5-6 million into it. Club house is dirty and straight from the 80’s...was not happy at all. Pretty sad to see a good course mis treated so badly. Do NOT go here.

I PLAY A LOT

I'm 54 and have played since I was 8 years old so I've played a lot of courses and I have been playing a few times each month for the last year, I live in Savannah but I take customers out mainly in Northern Florida. I have always enjoyed playing this course mainly because of it's layout and it's a bit different visually from what you typically see in Florida and Georgia. The key to playing here is - have they had plenty of rain? When this course does not see a great deal of rain, the fairways and greens really suffer and it drops off considerably. Apparently they do not have the means to irrigate sufficiently to overcome the lack of rain. We've had a great deal of rain lately and there were still a few greens that had some issues - #17 was the worst. Great course for the money, makes you work the ball and hit some different shots. Whoever set the pin placements when we played apparently was in a bad mood however, the course will be hard enough for high handicappers no need for that.
