Love this course! Had a blast!
This course was a lot of fun. It certainly could use some more watering in the fairways and on the greens, they were extremely dry and the greens were showing signs of burn already but it was a lovely day. The golf carts were brand new (or looked it) and they were nice and clean as were the restrooms in the club house. It would be nice to have a few additional water coolers on the course as I only remember seeing one tucked away in the back.......
Not a bad little course
The greens are in very good condition and the fairways are not the best but this little course is fun to play
For the price it was good.
For the money the course is ok.This is a good course for new golfers. When we got there, there were a lot of golfers waiting to tee off. The person in charge was a little overwhelmed and was not the most cordial. After we finished the back nine , she was a bit more cordial. When we finished all 18, she was much better.
terrible course
We arrived at the course early .We were told we would have to wait because they had an outing in front of us.The woman behind the counter was very short with us.She certainly seemed as if she would be just as happy if we weren't there. We waited until past our tee time and she told us to go off the back, which had been empty since before we arrived(dah). The 1,9,10 and 18 fairways are all right next to each other with no protection so it's duck and hit! There was no difference in the fairway and the rough because there was hardly any grass. The greens were mostly grass free and dry.The few spots on the greens that did have grass were nice telling me that neglect was probably the reason for their poor condition.W@e will not waste our time with this course again!!!
good value for beginners and for practice.
Took a novice and we had the course to ourselves. Saw two gators and we played in 3 hours.
It's alright if you are just drinking beer and just trying to hit some balls
The staff was nice and helpful. It was my first time ever going to this course. We had a party of 3. Albiet we are not professional golfers, but I do ok. We literally tee'd off on hole one, and it was at the very least 15-20 minutes later before we could hit our second shot. Holes 1-5 are perfectly parrallel with one another. All it does is go back and forth. There were 10 different golf carts just driving around all of the fairways.....hitting in different directions, we weren't even sure which holes they were playing. etiquette out the window. The fairways look like a couple of football fields put together. People just driving all over the place and hitting balls, sometimes across two different fairways to get back to the hole they were playing. I mean, I have hit my fair share onto other fairways, but if someone was playing the hole, I'd wait for them to go through. I was very unhappy and just started playing through, and if someone was in the way too bad. There was a group that was trying to play through us without even saying anything to us. The sad thing is they didn't know we were on the same hole. Even though we were in the fairway and obviously hitting towards the correct green. I do not play slow golf, I am actually very fast paced, this place is for the birds or those who want to just go drink a bunch of beer.
poor customer service.
I would not play here again if it were free. Lady at the desk was very rude. Never a hello how are you anything. Just you will be late to tee off. The first tee box is next to the driving range. She made us walk down then come back up for a cart when it was our time to play. We were not wanting to play early just wanted a cart so we could hit some balls then start. When I questioned why she very rudely asked how much we paid knowing that we got a great deal on golf now. I guess if you get a good deal the service is worse. The ranger was very nice and they have made huge improvements on the course. I just hate it when people are rude.
Better hit it straight...,
Shortish course, but playing into and across 25 mph winds made the already tight landing areas a little bit harder to find. Lots of big trees gurading the edges and found myself with several punch hooks and low fades. Greens are small but reasonable for the length of the holes, and considering the season and weather conditions, they were fast enough to keep you attention. Also, for the greens fee we paid, and the pretty drive across the St.John river coming in.... A great bargin golf course!
It is OK for hacking it around
I will give the new owner/management credit they are going in the right direction. The greens with. the overseed were decent couple so so spots but was able to putt fine. The rest of the coarse is OK. Not the type of place I will travel too again if I lived in that area I could see playing there for cheap practice. The one issue we had when we got to 12 there were two or 3 groups at every tee we quit at 14.
reasonable greens fee with beautiful greens. New golf carts
reasonable greens fee with beautiful greens. New golf carts
Good day of golf
The course was a bit of a drive but for the $10 hot deal we got it was worth it with cart included. The greens are in fantastic shape, fairways need some work. You can't slice it either direction here as with the thick woodsy areas you'll lose your ball and be forced to take a drop. Driving range is nice. We had a fun time with no complaints, just see a few small things the course could do to make it better such as new grass.
Riverbend Golf Links aka Cattail Creek
I played Cattail when it was a 9 hole course and I had started playing again. I feel llike I got my monies worth, the tee boxes need some TLC, and parts of the fairway are hardpan with weeds on top, which makes the course fun and challenging. A lot of the fairways are tight, so concentration ball control are key. The greens are in good shape, they roll true and at a good pace. The pace of play was great, we got around in 3 hours and 20 minutes. We joke that it's someplace you would go to warm up for St. Andrews, without the history. The staff was friendly, even though they were very rushed when we arrived. We will be going back
It is what it is
It's fun. You hit the ball, go find it and hit it again. If you find a bad spot on the green, just move your ball, nobody's watching you. If the group ahead of you is too slow, go to another hole- play any 18, have a beer or three and go home.
You can buy beer and cigars in the clubhouse and drive around for 3 hours in a beat up cart having fun for short money. What's not to like?
Tight course
Course was extremely wet since we played after a torrential downpour. Tight course however definately needs upgrades. Tee's need attention. Fairways need grass added as they have many bare spots.
Local course - nice layout - needs attention
Local course with a nice layout. Some greens, tee boxes and especially fairways need attention. The staff was friendly - but would only return with special rates offered on Golf Now.
Very poor conditions and they let 5 and 6 players play together
This was the worse course I ever played it was in terrible condition if you like cow pastures this is the place for you. But for the price it was all most ok as they say you get what you pay for but I will never go back.
Second review - not as great
Showed up on a Sunday 30 mins before a tee time at 12:10. Paid for 3 but two canceled so was alone. No problem but was forced to join up two holes in with another player 20 minutes after my time who paid to play by himself. Great guy but he wanted to play alone which I understand and having paid for three tee times myself I would have thought I would have been able to have my own cart. Like to play this course often but do feel like I get the 'cold shoulder' from the desk staff whenever I book through golf now. Seems that they are irritated that I had the sense to sign up for the discount. Bottom line this trip out, not enough carts and regardless of where I book the time, I paid too, for three people no less. I'll be back because it's convenient but come on riverbend, I'm a faithful player and book with you multiple times a month.
Interesting layout. Lots of hidden water hazards. Not on the course map and not marked.
Was 9 holes, now 18. Interesting holes. But, you need to play in a couple of times to know where the trouble lies. Lot's of unmarked hidden water hazards. But, when you know where they are, it's fun.
this course fairways need attention
the fairways needs attention. Tee time booked was delayed by 45 minutes. Some of the fairways are hard as a rock and others are covered with sand. The greens have been improved. It is a good place to do a practice round for the money.
Still the best review ever. Of course, I wrote it.
Seriously, it's all true. It's a great place to bang around and have fun. Gators, all kinds of wildlife too. Beer, cigars, airplanes roaring ouy of nowhere landing at the strip next door, got it all.
If I could find five courses like this one (and Live Oak), I'd be happy.
