15th fairway looking toward green Photo submitted by ElectraGilde on 11/15/2012
Fun, inexpensive golf on a course that needs maintenance.
I bought the Hot Deal and only paid $10 and I got what I paid for. This course has been around for 60+ years and is not very difficult. I enjoy the layout of the course but almost always find it in very rough shape. It served my purpose of practicing with new irons for about the same price I would have paid at a driving range. Greens and tee boxes were very patchy. There is very little difference between the fairway and rough. The golf cart retainer straps that held our golf bags came loose during play and dumped our bags off while traveling down the third fairway. The same happened to the gentlemen that we were paired with on the next hole. After inspection the straps were just too loose to hold a bag so a tee had to be jammed between the strap and the clamp on both carts. Fortunately the shafts on my new irons survived. There was no beverage service on the course.
I still had a fun time and got what I came for.
Fun course - Good value - Nice people
Played 18 on a Thursday late morning. Not crowed, plenty of time to take an extra shot or two. Try to play here twice a month and it's always fun. Staff is always making improvements. Greens were in pretty good shape, some were extremely nice. The recent overseeding is looking good. A lot of good holes to play here.
Overall a good experience.
Good value for the money. Staff could work on people skills and interactions with customers.
Good challenging course.
Some very tight driving holes. Plenty of places to get into trouble. I have been playing the course for two years or better and the course condition is the best I have seen it. Their work is paying off.
A nice little course of the beaten path.
For the value it's an excellent course. very narrow on some holes with a lot of ponds. greens are pretty undulating but on the smallish side. A nice change of pace.
Insane premium on approach accuracy
I had read that this was an excellent course for beginners. That's only true on some tee boxes. When driving home afterwards, we realized that this course didn't have any greenside bunkers. They are all water hazards. If you aren't sticking approach shots you will need a LOT of golf balls. Also, there are water hazards that aren't marked on the scorecards.
