Overpriced lunch bag letdown
As all golfers I like to be pleasantly surprised. It gets more difficult to experience this when you pay 300$ for a round of golf. At check in maybe they'd have a bag tag for you not this place. Range facility nice, putting green is the truest rolling green on the course. They haven't soaked it. Some very good looking holes, some stunning ocean views. I am a 9 handicap have lost some distance so played white tees 6000 yes. My best choice. They soaked the course I guess to keep it nice on postcard. There is something wrong when you hit a 3 wood into a par 4 and it plugs on a flat fringe. Mud balls all day. The four caddy provided with the round gives you yardage. That's all carry. The only hole I actually did not like was I think 17 a par 5, long hole hit good driive, good three wood, I then have a blind shot 185 yes uphill to a well bunker green. I nut it it plugs on fringe another mud ball. It will be a long time before I pay this price for a round of golf. My fault as kids say" my bad"
Stunning Views
One of the best all around golf courses I have played. The views are stunning. The course design and conditions are exceptional. Customer service is outstanding.
Why Cart Path Only for all 18 holes?
The course layout is typical of a resort course. The views from the scenic holes on the back 9 make the course unique. Especially on a clear beautiful day, the views were gorgeous.
What we couldn't understand was the need for "cart path only" for all 18 holes. We know there was intermittent light rain on the course the day before. Cart path only for the Par 3 holes is typical for most courses. Even on some of the shorter Par 4 holes, cart path only may be reasonable and necessary. HOWEVER, cart path only for the Par 5 and longer Par 4 holes made it a long and tiring day. At other courses, muddy or wet areas are roped off so carts can be driven partially onto the course to areas where the fairway conditions are good. It is implied that this course has drainage issues over the entire south course which can't handle golf cart usage even after light rain. By the way, no one informed us that it was cart path until the 3rd hole when we called to ask why access to the fairways was restricted.
Better than I’d expected.
Beautiful course, lots of scenic photo ops , the greens were great just hard for a midwestern to read . Would love to play it again. 1:20 tee time rate was worth it got in 17 holes before dark .
Enjoyed Pelican Hill South
I played the course when on vacation. I played with two locals who knew the course. The course was in great shape and the layout was awesome. The signature hole #13 along the ocean was awesome. The fairways were contoured such that most shots slightly off line were funneled back into the fairway. Nice amenities (range, locker rooms, etc) and staff was friendly and helpful. The course is pricey but was more reasonable with a twilight rate. I enjoyed the round.
Fairways Need Help
Beautiful course, Greens were spectacular but tough. 9 and 18 are some of the toughest holes you can find. The Fairway conditions were mostly poor, please improve this area - too expensive to have your ball land in divots at 8:40am
Pacific Coast Gem
One of the finest golf resorts I have ever played. They have dynamic pricing, so it could be had at a good rate. Course is very picturesque and challenging. The clubhouse is 5 star with friendly staff, good food and drink offerings, and unbelievable views of the ocean.
Better than expected
Was in town for work and finally able to play this course. I was blown away with both the views and the architecture of the course. Course is pretty open and overly long but the greens were some of the fastest and tougher I have played. I would play it over Torrey Pines anyday of the week…
The most miserable fun I have had playing golf
The course was great. Played with some very nice people but golf etiquette was very bad. The three I played with was a family that wanted to hit another ball after a bad shot. Mother and son never played a full 18 holes in their life. I felt like I held the whole course up. Spending 340.00 for a round wouldn’t ever thought beginners would pay that to play. Course though was amazing.
INCREDIBLE COURSE
The course is filled with beauty! It is a long difficult course. The staff was great. Can’t wait to return.
Great course but slow play
Course is unbelievable. Beautiful and challenging. Only problem was pace of play. Had as many as 4-5 groups on a couple of holes. Marshall came late, around 11th hole, but was too late to fix issue and didn’t really try just made excuses.
Amazing course
Everything from the clubhouse to the holes is amazing. Very pretty course and has great charm to it. Very expensive but if you can find a hot deal I would defiantly take it!
Great Course
Grabbed a twilight rate. Teed off at 5:00 and we were able to get 9 in. Didn’t see as much of the ocean from the front 9 which was a little bit of a disappointment but overall the course was in spectacular shape. Several challenging holes that force you off the tee over wasteland which is beautiful to see and fun to play. Seemed to me several holes had hills shaped to keep balls in play. 1, for example, if you went a little right you ended back in the fairway as long as you don’t reach the bunker. So you have to play it a little less than 250 - unless you can drive it 285+. From the front of the bunker I was only 175 or so out. Easy par to start the round. On the 142 yard par 4 I was about 40 feet up the hill to the left of the green and my ball funneled down the onto the green. Not a good shot but the course enabled a par. Hole 7 took it back by taking my errant 6 into the drink! We had a blast. We stayed for dinner and drinks after our short round. This is a must play.
So BEAUTIFUL!!
Played on a perfect day for golf. Tee time was 3:30pm and got all 18 in just in time (south course). Course in fantastic shape, playing partners (1 was a member) were fantastic! Staff was great and friendly. Staff at the bar afterwards for a drink were excellent. Total experience (my first tine here) was excellent. Will def come back to play again
greens meh....
The course is beautiful, challenging and next to no one repairs divots. The biggest disappointment was the battle scared greens. I expected more for the price but it was still a fun round.
Awesome views, especially the couple of holes that run along the beach. Some cool holes that cross big valleys of rough stuff. Pace pretty slow, people in front of us didn’t seem to keep up with people in front of them. My reservation also showed 2 people instead of 1 for some reason, they didn’t make me pay for a second person thankfully because it was just me
