Pace of play
Everything about the facility is great course in great shape, greens excellent just need to work on pace of play
First Time at Cypress Lakes
Cypress lakes provides a challenge of water and length on certain holes, it was weird to me that each tee was all sand. Greens were decent. It was worth playing for the Golf now special
Cypress Lakes
It’s been close to 2 years since I’ve played here and I was disappointed in the fairways. They have gotten pretty thin with a lot of dirt patches. Bunkers were unplayable due to the rain 3 days prior. Not sure how long they wait before adding fresh sand so I can’t fault them. Greens were decent and fast as they usually are. No starter, no cart girl, and no real bathroom. Just a port a poty and bushes to use. Perhaps they have all their attention going to Longwood.
Mediocre at best
Course was in real bad shape. Everything about the place seems outdated, carts, club house, not a good first impression. Would not play again unless hear of great improvements made.
Course dry/hard and staff not very friendly
Course was very dry and hard and needs more than rain. Staff not very friendly, we had to unplug our electric cart as attendant asked us to do. Attendant was not very busy, he just failed to do his job
Spread the word
Imagine my surprise as a 23 year Air Force vet when my foursome discussed how much we paid for our round…that one of us got a veterans discount…and it wasn’t me. Most of use golf now to arrange tee times. Well I’m spreading the word…veterans, you’ll need to call instead of using golf now to get a significant discount. Similarly, Ive been told to call Tour 18 to get a nice senior discount. Hey golf now, how about some transparency on discounts?
About the course, my foursome finished in the dark about 7pm daylight time on a 224 pm tee time. Had to double up as they ran out of carts (on a Thursday). The two in the other cart were having a tough time keeping up. We had some women play through.
Bogey golf
Need to work on my game after seldom playing this summer. Pace of play was too slow starting out. A foursome ahead of me was taking over five minutes on the green ahead of me on number four. So I skipped it after noticing the group ahead was already finishing number five. Saved that hole for later after my round. Another slow group on number 11 put me in a sandwich on the tee so I joined up with two fellas coming up behind (not same as the earlier slow pokes). We played at a good pace the rest of the way. Lots of bare patches in the fairways and the late afternoon greens were crunchy. This drought has been bad. Obvious that the grounds crew are hand watering around the greens when they can. My approach on nine plugged near the green from the runoff.
Fairways still struggling
Cypress Lakes had some irrigation problems awhile back, and the fairways are still patchy but seem to be on the way back. The pace of play was good & the greens were in excellent condition and pretty quick. Overall very good.
Holiday golf
Columbus Day yet good tee times were available at affordable prices. Course was not crowded until we went up against two slow foursomes beginning on # 14. Conditions were variable…good greens, fairways with bare patches and invasive grass patches. Evidence of watering restrictions during a severe drought.
Fairway is like airport runway
Bare dirt fairway. This course is going down hill so quickly. Hopefully it’s getting better when longwood reopens. I’m not going here anymore till they improve the course.
Good to be back
It had been over three months since playing this course due to the extreme heat. Fairways are still recovering, greens are just as good as always.
Maybe better when grass grows
Course should change fees based on course conditions, this isn’t an $80 round when they can water the fairways
