would come back for sure
I am almost 65, I rode 43 miles to the course, did not plan on playing.it was on a friday, about 10 am. I asked if they had rental clubs. They did, they gave me a senior discount, rental clubs, 10 range balls, I bummed some tees off a guy my age I saw playing and off i went.Coming back from the cold weather I thought the course was in amazing shape.Several elevated tee boxes, some doglegs, water hazards to carry before reaching the greens occasionally. The grees were in excellent shape.bent grass. And they are huge.I wish I had gotten the names of the lady at the proshop register or the man probably the club pro there. I couldnt stay for the whole round. I took the clubs back, the cart key back, and to my surprise they gave me a raincheck. The last time I had played there was nearly 25 years ago.The course and staff was great then and it is now. From the white tees its 6300 yards.About 6700 from the back tees.It is a challenge for the average golfer. I would highly recommend it.
a little shaggy but not bad for time of year
Greens are nice bent and roll pretty true.fairways and box's a little shaggy but a texas course in early spring not bad. Not too difficult but fun.
burgers are great!
Great Course
Very fun course, was very green for being early spring. I loved the layout of the course. Not too difficult, and pace of play was pretty good. Will definitely be playing here again.
59Digit
Not bad, For the money , I just think that a lot of Texas golf courses are suffering from the drought , so being what it is Golf is fun and challenging no matter where you play, I will be playing this course again!!!
Hidden Gem
This is a great course to play. Elevation changes on most holes and bentgrass greens that putt great. Carts have GPS. GPS gives you tips at each tee shot. It is well worth the drive. I live an hour away. I played as a single and ended up playing 36 holes. Replay rate was $13. Players there were friendly and let me play thru when I caught up to them. Pace of play was great. I teed off at 11:08 and left at 4:45. Got a cheeseburger and fries to go after the first 18 and can recommend the burgers. Staff is always very friendly. I really enjoy playing golf courses that are hidden gems and not crowded. If you pay the regular rate I think it is worth the drive and if can book a discounted tee time that is even better.
this course is fun and scenic as well
Course was in good shape for winter play! Greens were in excellent shape and would hold your approach. We had a good time for the money we spent. Will play again, tkanks golf now. Dale Moyer
Course has nice layout and awesome bent grass greens
Has a little of everything in layout with doglegs ,elevated tees ,blind shots including water hazards and trees. Fun course to play and not to difficult.
Great course challenging
Course is in great shape, greens soft going in but deceptively quick. Carts have GPS with helpful hints. I really enjoyed the place
Not challenging
If you want to play a course that is easy and nobody else is playing this is the course. Conditions are pretty good, but there aren't many challenges at all. The cart paths need some work as they have a lot of pot holes in them and are pretty rough. I would consider the rate I paid a little high for the course. I would not play for what the normal green fees are.
Confidence builder for the straight hitter. Super course!
In great shape for late summer. Gonna be awesome this fall. Tight but relatively short except for a couple of the par 3s that will get in your shorts. Good fairways but miss them and hit the hard ground your ball will most likely take up residence in a residence. Soft, moderate size greens, some patchy crabgrass spots but still putt pretty nice. Always been one of my favorites. Tempting to the long hitter to cut corners and so forth but punishing when you guess wrong. I highly recommend this one!
Enjoyed the variety of the layout.
This course, as well as many in Texas this year (2013), are hurting for water. I will say the greens were in great shape, soft and smooth. The green speed was not super fast or super slow. Pretty normal speed.
Great course
We've been traveling for 5 days playing golf and stayed an extra day to paly again.
Runaway is a perfect name for this coarse.
Worst coarse I've played in years. Do yourself a favor and play anywhere else. Lots of weeds on the coarse and little signs of up keep.
Excellent greens.
Course has pretty sharp turns on several holes and changes of elevation make this a challenging course.
Fun track for the right price
If you find a deal on this course, give it a shot. The fairways could be better maintained, but the staff is friendly and the greens are adequate. Elevation changes and tree lined fairways make for a fun layout, especially when the wind is blowing.
Super Bowl play
Went on Super Bowl Sunday not crowded. Stay in the fairway to avoid harsh conditions greens were in good shape and the tiered shapes make you play it close to the pin. Can't wait til spring to see the conditions improve. Pray for rain.
Soft greens
I like the greens on this course. You can actually pitch onto them and leave a divot. Unlike others around that are like pitching onto concrete and the ball bounces and rolls off them. They do need attention a lot of dead areas on the greens. All around a nice course to play. This course does have a lot of trees along the fairways.
Good old course with atmosphere
Was pleasantly pleased at this course which I had heard about but never played. It's fairly distant from where we live but 45 minutes is a reasonable drive to play there. The design is very good and you could tell that on some days pin placement could kill you, luckily we had 5 which is mostly mid green. If you play the fairways there are some low scores to be had. The only negative thing I can say is maintenance of tee boxes and a few greens was lacking but overall I'd give it a 7.
