Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
About
The Palmer Course is one of two championship courses designed by Arnold Palmer at the Saddlebrook Resort just north of Tampa. Although it is seemingly tame at 6,273 yards, it plays much tougher. The golf course features more elevation changes than the resort's other course, the Saddlebrook. The undulating, tree-lined fairways were designed to mimic a hilly New England course but the moss-covered cypresses, palm trees, and marshy swamplands are true to the Florida landscape. The layout features tight fairways framed with contoured mounding and the occasional water hazard but the most formidable challenge comes from the bunkers strategically placed along the undulating greens. The approaches to the tiered greens, which are often sloped from back to front, demand accuracy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag and employ a variety of different shots.

Fun Old World Resort Golf
I really like this course because it's the closest course to Tampa with rolling hills. I'm a big fan of resort golf and Saddlebrook has the amenities to provide a country club style round without being an exclusive member. I usually enjoy myself a little too much when I play a round here. The pool bar is a nice place to relax before calling it a day. There's even a golden tee in the game room if playing 18 wasn't enough. I always look forward to my next visit.
Good work Arnie!!
Travelled 50 miles from Orlando area to play the Palmer course and was not disappointed!! This is a really nice layout with some lovely holes with just enough water in play to keep players on their toes. Course was in great shape including the greens which were slopey, true and fast enough. Would highly recommend
Beyond worth the money
Awesome course, the saddlebrook was getting some greens work done but the Palmer was incredible. Played as a solo but lots of fun holes that don’t kill you on distance but requires some well played shots. Greens were fast with lots of movement, great time and worth the extra drive and money from Tampa. Staff is beyond awesome as well!
Tired course, tired equipment, tired resort
Not much watering of the fairways, dry and grassless in areas. Several greens patched, but not tended properly for patch to gain a foothold. Careless cutting and replacement of holes. Many ball washers had no towels, what towels there were are threadbare and in tatters. The ball washer water was as brown as dirt. Cart paths were missing several sections of concrete, or rough and broken. Signage poor throughout the course, whether trying to find the range, or back to the course. No tread on cart tires. Played more like a bad muni than a 'resort' course.
Definitely worth the visit
Excellent day from the moment we drove through the gates. This is a really enjoyable course in all aspects and a good challenge for all club golfers. The course was in good condition considering the time of year and the usage it must have had during the snowbird period. The course and facilities are well appointed and the staff were all extremely helpful, friendly and happy. My wife and I left the venue thinking that we would definitely consider staying on the course for a week and playing daily.
Fast day!
Got a great rate and played as a single. Got through the round in 2hrs 20 mins! Hit a foursome who godly let me play right through and also caught up to a threesome who let me play through again! Course was in great shape! I even left my SW in the range and the picked it up and brought it to me in the course! Great staff and course I will definitely be back with my group!
Saddlebrook Palmer
Course is in good shape, greens roll true. Pace of play was super fast. middle of the day on a weekday. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Palmer Course disappointing
First time in 2 years we had been out to the Palmer 18 at Saddlebrook. What was immediately obvious was that they had not cut the fairways in several days. It was like playing out of straggly rough. The greens were OK, but you could see where some had damage. The bunkers were actually in the best condition I had seen them. Plenty of sand and it was not packed down or wet.
The halfway house was open for the first time in 12 years. Hooked up with a single about 12 holes into the round. He said that normally the fairways were good, but the greens were "hairy" . It looks like they may have a money issue. Didn't see any maintenance workers out there.
Fantastic Staff, fun course
We had a little glitch but Logan in the proshop fixed everything. Already looking forward to going back.
Resort Course
So not so challenging, and you can expect slow round. VERY difficult to find 1st on Palmer! Some nice holes, but over-all not bad, but not great. Fairly short. Probably will not return, but value and staff were excellent.
