Palmer at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis Resort
The Palmer Course is one of two championship courses designed by Arnold Palmer at the Saddlebrook Resort just north of Tampa. Although it is seemingly tame at 6,273 yards, it plays much tougher. The golf course features more elevation changes than the resort's other course, the Saddlebrook. The undulating, tree-lined fairways were designed to mimic a hilly New England course but the moss-covered cypresses, palm trees, and marshy swamplands are true to the Florida landscape. The layout features tight fairways framed with contoured mounding and the occasional water hazard but the most formidable challenge comes from the bunkers strategically placed along the undulating greens. The approaches to the tiered greens, which are often sloped from back to front, demand accuracy. Golfers should be prepared to use every club in their bag and employ a variety of different shots.

Very nice course layout, greens were a little rough.
Tees and fairways in excellent shape. Course layout was good resort course. Playable for all skill levels. Very nice overall. Greens were not in the best shape but putted fine.
beautiful course, in great shape overall for this time of year, staff very good, treated great.
Rough is supposed to be mean bunkers
I have played Saddlebrook several times and have always considered them some of the top courses in the area. Beautiful course with speedy smooth greens is why I chose to drive an hour just to play here. The greens are horrible, rumble strips on the highway would be easier to putt. Wait a few weeks then they should have it back in the fantastic shape we expect from them.
Nice layout, rough greens.
If you have not played Saddlebrook before, be advised you will have to valet your vehicle. The pro shop will validate your valet ticket. The tees and fairways were in fair condition, and most of the bunkers were in good shape. The greens, however, are in pretty rough shape. Very bumpy and inconsistent. Everyone on staff from the valet, cart wranglers, pro shop, starter and beverage cart were very nice and welcoming. This is a difficult time of the year for greens in Florida, so lower your expectations in that area if you plan a round here.
Pace of play was reasonable for a Sunday morning (4 hours).
What a maze
Such a maze to get around. Didn't like the here and there to get to the driving range and than back to pro shop and than to the golf course. Won't go back, u need a GPS to get around. Plus we had to wait at every hole to tee off took 4 1/2 hours to play. Some greens need repair badly. Plus we had to park a mile away from everything and ride a bus with are clubs.
Great for money spent.
They are currently doing some work on greens and is wet due to all the rain but for the money it is fantastic.
First time playing this course but really enjoyed the course layout. The greens had been punched recently and a lot of the greens had bad spots. Hard to figure out how to park and get to the pro shop.
Palmer Course July
I was pleasantly surprised on the course. The staff has recently airated the greens and I was not upset at all due to the fact that it was such a nice course. Will be playing there again. Thank you.
Great condition course, not the longest but the small tiered greens require an accurate approach shot.
All Staff were really friendly, and made our party feel really welcome.
Good course - better Amenities
The greens were so-so. They had been aerated recently and still had holes. If you could predict the hops, you could get close from a distance, otherwise, good luck.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. The driving range was a long way from everything.
Great course but greens poked
I have played the Palmer course many times when the greens weren't poked and a real fun and challenging course always in great condition. I knew the greens were aerated but decided to play anyways thinking with all the rain that they'd be healed a bit, but was wrong. Between sand and big holes were quite bumpy and basically in the automatic 2-putt range. The day was great weather-wise and pace of play was terrific as we started at 10am and finished at 12:15, and that was us being a twosome. Highly recommend this course when greens heal up.
They have just done a punch, which made putting *
Had a great time working on my irons and driver!
As always. It a pleasure to spend the day at Saddlebrook Resort. Great Course and Staff.......
Looking forward to going back.
Great lay out....really an awesome experience from the front entrance to exit
Good Palmer Course
My first time playing at Saddlebrook Palmer Course, the course was in great shape after all the rain we received, good rolling greens, friendly staff. The only downside was the valet parking, we had to wait for the cart shuttle that never came, so we had to carry our clubs to the valet station after our round and the other negative was the practice range, about five minutes away from the first tee box. Overall, I would return and highly recommend this course for this price.
From the valet to the starter it was an all around top notch experience. Bags are taken directly to your cart before you are driven to the pro shop which is just past the pool.
The steakhouse is next to the pro shop, so stop after your round for a bite.
The course is open and challenging with water hazards on all but 2. From the average golfer to the professional you will love the layout.
The only disappointment was that they was not cart girl to offer service that day and a group of two started at hole 9 however they were placed behind our group which did not delay our pace. We finished in 3 ½ hours.
I would definitely return for the price.
Hot day and slow play
10am tee time had to wait 20 min as it was already backed up course looked good greens very fast a few tee boxes looked a little rough but overall the course was good but pace was to slow and it was very hot all day with tight fairways and small greens it's a tuff layout for an high handicap golfer if u r a 10 handicap or better you'll enjoy it took my group over 5 hrs to play which is to long
