Course in great condition considering the drought. Layout was good, only downside was the distraction of jets landing while you were playing.
Good management, disrespectful members
My overall experience of the East course was good. Conditions were above average. Tee boxes to greens were in good shape. FYI the practice greens rolls 10-20 percent faster than on course greens due to being in the sun all day.
The worst part of the day. I was sent off as a single around 2:30 PM on Saturday. There weren’t many golfers on the course according to the starter so he let me go ahead. I came up to a twosome around hole 3-4 who quickly let me through as they were beginners by hole 5. They were backed up by a foursome, who I later got backed up by from hole 7-15. They finally let me through on hole 15 and demanded that I say thank you for letting me through after making me wait nearly 2 hours. They were verbally disrespectful to a guest, as I later found out they were members. The course management apologized for their behavior which I was very grateful for.
This could have happened at any other course as members tend to be elitist, sadly. Bear Creek was good and I will likely find myself playing there again.
Great... if you like rounds upwards of 4.5-5 hours
Booked an early tee time.
The staff checking in was friendly, but I should have known it was going to be a bad round when I saw a sign thsg said pace of play from the golfers is expected to be 4.5 hours.
For being the 3rd group to go off, there was already a 10 minute delay.
WWE got as far back as a24 minute delay.
The people I was paired up with said it's normal to br like that. Where i come from expected pace of play is supposed to be 4 hours and under.
The group in front couldn't even keep pace with the group in front of them.... you know the folks who wait until the foursome in front of them is on the green to tee off.... then takes 8 minutes for all four to hit their tee shots.
We literally waited 6-8 minutes to hit every shot.
The greens were shaggy, slow and unmanicured. There were areas with no grass and just dirt. You could see lines of turf break between fairways and rough.
The worst part is there was a ranger who usually came around and did nothing to push the groups.... even worse is the group behind us, they were nowhere to be seen after the 6th hole. So imagine if we finished the round 30 minutes behind, what the groups behind us must have experienced.
Great experience
My husband and I played for the first time during the most recent heat wave. We got out at 7:15am and played with a very nice regular who helped with tips about the East course. I was amazed at the pace of play for a Saturday morning! Even better than at our private club. Will def play here again.

Bear Creek does a fantastic job of taking care of their courses. Fairways are lush and not burnt out like a lot of other public courses. The beverage cart comes around often and they have multiple bathrooms that are clean and well maintained. They have a great patio to hang out after your round with a cool food truck outside to keep the party going.
First round at bear creek
Course is in good shape, greens are fast, and rough is penalizing. Narrow fairways on west course are challenging from the tips. Cart girl is sweet, tip her well. I booked a late hot deal for Wednesday evening but did not notice there is a tournament on the back nine west. They were friendly enough to let me join them so that I could play all 18.
Always a good challenge
Love this course it’s always been one of my favs
Greens were a bit grainy but they still rolled ok
Review
When I showed up to the clubhouse to check in, I was charged an additional 1/2 cart fee because the other golfer that I was going to be riding with, didn’t show up on time for his tee time. In the end, I was driving the cart myself and the golf shop charged me for that and I don’t feel like that was my fault for someone not showing up.
Nice greens, that’s it
They started me on hole 10, which wasn’t in my tee time or email confirmation. So I was immediately stuck behind a whole course of retiree foursomes. I’m on the course currently, about 1.5 hours to play 5 holes. Summer golf in Texas is tough; it’s too hot to play in the afternoon, but old guys literally snag every single morning tee time.
Good course
Played this course on many occasions and has never disappointed. They are working on improving the course which is good, but need to address the bare spots in the rough. Greens rolled well and fairways in good shape!

This course is always in great condition and the staff is constantly making the rounds to ensure you play in 4 hours. They have a great patio for drinking to settle post round bets.
First Time This Summer
Played West course Sunday afternoon and finished in just under 4 hours. Never had to wait and course is in great shape. Greens are smooth and good pace. Fairways provided good lies. Overall enjoyable round. Will definitely play again soon.
