significant difference between nines
this is a course designed around three 9 hole layouts: labelled Marsh, Lake, and Cypress; Your 18 hole round will be on 2 of the 3. The Lakes course was challenging with unexpected hidden water hazards requiring some local course knowledge; the Marsh course much wider and more forgiving. "Lakes" nine was much more interesting. Course overall in very good shape though greens a bit rough in a few places. Overall, would certainly recommend. Staff very accommodating and helpful.
Course in great condition!
Course was in great condition and pace of play was perfect! Fees have gone up and charging $10 extra for a bag of balls is not good. However, seems the courses in this area have all followed suit!
We play it every year
My buddies and I just returned home from our annual beach/golf trip. We played Kiva Dunes, Peninsula, GlenLakes and Perdido Bay. Peninsula is at the top of that list. We found the back 9 pin positions at Kiva dunes to be incredibly difficult. Peninsula offered a challenge without silly pin positions Greens were in great shape.
Staff was awesome as well. We decided we would put Kiva on the back burner in the future and always play Peninsula and Perdido Bay. Will probably play Craft Farms and Lost Key next year as well.
REALLY NICE COURSE WITH OPTION OF 3 BUT YOU DON'T GET TO PICK THEM
Wonderful conditions / Wonderful staff
This is a very nice course. Layout of the practice greens and range is very user friendly. Staff were very accommodating and helpful. Huge greens so pay attention to the pin placement sheet and/or make sure to bring a range finder. The greens hold well and are smooth. Course is not particularly well marked with yardages. Courses of this quality and high green fees typically have GPS on the carts but not here. We played the Cypress and Lakes 9's.
My biggest negative is the course yardage between the second and third set of tees. Nearly 800 yardage difference between the two. Either 5700 yards or 6500 yards. They could blend the holes from each to make a course that fits the average golfer around 6100-6200 yards.. Overall a pricy but beautiful course. A treat to play.
For the price over booked slightly too many people to close together, overall it was a good experience
Best course in Gulf Shores
Course is in great shape with super friendly staff. Only negative is that we had to follow a 5 somme in the back half making for a slow 9 holes. If I was a member I certainly wouldn't be impressed that they let 5 guys go out together.
Just a great place to play golf.
Spent the month of February here at the Gulf Shores and this was the best course we played by far. The rough was overseeded with Rye so the course was green everywhere. Greens were great and the staff was superb.
Best maintained course in the area. Lush, Fairways, and greens.
Excellent fairway condition
Best fairway turf in the area, maybe a little dry in spots. Very large greens remarkably weed free and faster than h_____.Some tees a little scruffy but it's winter.
Marsh / Lakes / Cypress
A friend and I played all the nines at the Peninsula course on 12/05/23. I do have to admit before I get started that this course is probably one of the prettiest courses I have ever played. Each nine has water, marsh and sand that will come into play on errant shots. There are more houses on the Lakes and Cypress nines than the Marsh nine, but they really aren’t in view. The greens are large, firm, fast and have many undulations to them. The course was in excellent condition from tee to green. I will have to say my favorite nine was the Lakes nine and my favorite holes on the entire course were Marsh #5, 6 and 7. Cypress #1, 4 and 6. Lakes #1, 2, 3, 7 (Great view from the back tee, even if you do not play it, with the bay to your left) and #8. The entire staff inside and out were very friendly and professional. If I’m in the area again I would not hesitate to play this course again. Do yourself a favor and have a drink on the patio outside looking over the pond and a view of the first hole on Marsh #1.
Peninsula @ Gulf Shores
27 terrific holes of Golf.
Exceptional putting surfaces, Fairways were in good condition, being totally honest some of the tees (set 3) were getting a little threadbare but this could be due to a lot of traffic, change of grasses or a consequence of lack of rain.
Its important to choose the correct length of Course for your ability as it plays long.
All the staff encountered were very efficient and friendly.
Definitely worth a visit if you are ever in the area!
Great course
Beautiful courses , really enjoyed playing here , all the staff were very helpful definitely will play next time I'm here
