The Links At Bodega Harbour
About
The Links at Bodega Harbour is conveniently situated along the Sonoma County Coast, only an hour from San Francisco and two hours from Sacramento. Its location perched above the Pacific also provides stunning ocean views. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.in 1978, the back nine was the original course before the front nine was added nine years later. Jones designed a traditional Scottish links layout complete with rolling fairways and fast, undulating greens. There are almost 100 bunkers strategically situated throughout as well as thick patches of native coastal rough that are just waiting to swallow even slightly errant shots. The golf course is not long but it requires both skill and strategy. The final three holes are not only the most challenging, they also boast the most breathtaking views.

Comparable to Pebble Beach
Absolutely stunning views from nearly every hole. The wind and the fog are unpredictable and add to the difficulty. If you're near Santa Rosa it is certainly worth the drive.
Blown Away
The course was in good shape. Greens were fast even though they were still showing a few punch marks. Wind was steady at 20mph with gusts up to 30+, so it was a great challenge for shaping shots and keeping drives low. Will definitely play here again, but on a less windy day.
Beautiful views but the course was not my thing
Service and personnel were both great. My disappointment stems from the design and playability of the golf course. I felt the course was crowded by homes and changed my game/club selection despite my general confidence in my ability to stay on the course. Granted the day was considerably windier than normal, but still it felt like there would be no space to breath even on a calm day. The way the course wound through the hillside felt very forced, and I've played a number of courses with elevation changes. Even Lake Chabot golf course which I'm not a fan of seems more natural in its setting than the Links at Bodega Harbour. The views were amazing indeed, but not enough to redeem the design in my opinion. Unfortunately that's not an easy fix and I likely won't be back anytime soon.
Difficult course. Not for beginners. Beautiful location. Challenging layout! Welcoming staff!
Yeah golf
Great little course..beautiful views of the coast line. I found the two walking holes a bit weird. I would rate this course 7.5 out of 10
Return Visit
Course as always was in great condition. Only issue I had today was the strong winds blowing on a day that didn't get out of the 50s. Can't blame my results on the course, but it was a tough day on the links. Looking forward to returning on a more pleasant day.
Poor maintenance
Greens were very good. Course has lots of elevation change and helpful to have someone know the course (e.g best to use short irons off some tees). Fairways and rough were not great. Course appears to be in decline
Weather is major factor
Bodega Harbour can be compared to many of the courses on the Northern & Central California Coastline. It is a beautiful, scenic ocean front course. It is challenging for all intermediate level golfers and very well maintained. The staff is always helpful and friendly. If the winds remain light to moderate a round at Bodega Harbour is delightful. More severe winds can greatly reduce the enjoyment.
Friendly staff, fun course, good value.
Worth a trip to the coast. Last three holes are memorable. Staff very welcoming.
Best CA Coast Value
Course was in great shape. Great scenery and wildlife. Cart recommended because you still get to walk a fun two-hole stretch at 16-17. A bit too much OB for my liking with so many houses lining the fairways but white tees allow you to hit shorter clubs to keep it in play. Challenging around the greens and many uneven fairway lies. (Don't try full shots from those lies since you probably never practice them!) Catch the downslope off the tee at 9 and you can chip and putt for birdie like I did. Reluctant to call this such a tremendous value because I'm afraid they'll raise the price! ;)
Ocean views at a discount price
Bang for the buck this is one of the best courses in Northern California. Almost every hole has sweeping ocean views. It’s a beautiful course which maintains nice fairways and terrific greens. The elements are part of the challenge on this Links style course. Wind can be tough so hope for the best. Putts break towards the ocean. Pictures don’t do it justice.
Best Course In Sonoma County?
Bodega is an excellent test of your golf skills. The greens are very fast and undulating and 2 putts are not a given. The wind always plays a factor - especially on the back nine where holes 13-15 play directly into the wind which ranges from 10-30 mph. Conversely, many of the other holes have a helping wind - or a cross breeze. The views of Bodega Bay are really amazing. The course is not overly long but that is tempered by the wind and the long rough along most of the holes. I've played this course at least 15 times int he last year and will keep going back even though it has gotten more expensive and crowded. The increased number of golfers may have scared the local bobcats away - haven't them in awhile. Plenty of other wildlife though.
