Nice experience
Great price, friendly staff. Rarely crowded. Fairways and bunkers are needing love but tee boxes and greens are nice. As a intermediate golfer trying to improve I love playing here. Keep up the good work!
Seemed like a good vslue
The price was to good to be true. Greens were awful. The course was wide open. Weather was beautiful. Just no fun to putt on the greens.
Wild doglegs!
The 5,971 yds, par 70, from the blue tees, seems like it should be a simple course. You'll find that, if you play from the blues, this is a challenging layout. 90 degree doglegs on the two par fives require precision on second shots. Two of the par 3s are nearly 200 yards. The course condition is rough in many places, and the small greens are slow and difficult to read. Played the course on a Saturday in under three hours, teeing off at noon. GolfNow hot deal was a steal.
Had a great time. The weather was perfect. The course was in pretty good shape. the fairways were rough in some spots but the greens were in great shape. Not too crowded either. Finished 18 holes in 3.5 hours. Lots of fun.
Same old Calimesa!
Played by myself after booking a hot deal on GolfNow for $12. Showed up at 10:30 for an 11:45 tee time. Checked in at the pro shop and got a small bucket of range balls for $5. Balls were in terrible shape! Must of them were old and beat up and looked like they had been in the rotation for quite awhile. Young lady in the pro shop said they were wide open and as soon as I was done on the range I could hit the first tee. Played from the blue tees which is an underwhelming 6,000 yards. Had a birdie and two bogeys on the front for a +1 (35) and played in 54 minutes! Unfortunately when making the turn I ran into a 3-some and 4-some waiting to tee off. The 4-some was on the tee and the 3-some nowhere to be found so I went ahead and played right behind the 4-some. I was hoping at some point they'd let me play through since I was by myself but that only took 6 holes before they offered. At that point it was pretty slammed up ahead so instead of playing through i joined them. Played the back 9 in about 2 hours and 15 minutes and struggled with the waiting and shot 77 on my round. All-in-all a relaxing day at a mediocre golf course. Price was good but course not so much. Most of the greens were decent. Tee boxes were terribly uneven and thin some even lacked any sign of green grass at all. I've been playing Calimesa CC for 20 years or so and it never seems to get any better than just above cow pasture status. I don't understand why they don't try to improve the course conditions or upgrade the pro shop, restaurant and banquet facilities. It's very much stuck in the 70's somewhere. What could be a successsful local golf course if managed properly may soon meet the same fate as some of the other inland empire courses. It may not even be the management at the golf course level as much as the owners who are notoriously cheap in their business endeavors. Step your game up before we lose another local golf course!
A place to get some swings in
A place to get some swings in without paying an arm and a leg. Greens are in terrible shape fairways are thin. Staff is nice, and pace of play is excellent.
Customer service
Went on 12/26/16 the place was over booked. I first gave a courtesy call to let them know we were running about 10 minutes late. The lady that answer the phone said no problem. No heads up to what we were about to encounter. Got to golf course and at the first tee box saw that there was a backup already. Went to go pay and waited in line for 15 minutes to get pushed back. To let the on time people go first. That was the first time that ever happened to us. For this customer service I will never play here again.
Ugh!
I missed the round! Lol When it was time to leave the house the whole street was blocked! At one time there were 15 Sheriff, police, fire engine, and ambulance vehicles... I thought for sure it was a terrorist threat or in process! They were there over an hour before thinning out... It was just a domestic dispute! I missed my "hot deal round! (So their is no reimbursement:( Still, I golf Cal Mesa often), I love the level of difficulty; it's not long but their are many obstacles (trees) so you have to place the ball and their are many risk reward shots to entice you for example deep doglegs that you can cut across with shrubbery and trees to prevent you from, yet easily surmounted if you are not intimidated for eaxample the 11th whole is a par four that can be reached with a fairway wood by cutting across such a dog leg..., (easily) I'm great with fairway woods too but rarely get over lol I encourage anyone to play the course
Great course, getting even better!
This is my favorite course in the Inland Empire! The course itself has one of the best designs out there; its challenging yet very fun, both at the same time! The greens are soft, very fair with just the right of break. And they do not overbook, something a lot of courses do a lot causing 5+ hour rounds. But not this course, you can comfortably golf this course in 4 hours. And the new restaurant... how many good things can I say about this? Really, really yummy food and at good prices! My wife and I go there just to eat... (how is it that Calimesa has the best food in the area? That's another issue all together) Anyway, I thought it was time I updated my review... Love this course!!!
''HARD PAN FAIRWAYS"
HITTING OFF THE FAIRWAYS WAS LIKE PLAYING OFF PAVED CART PASSES. I HAD A NICE ROUND WITH AN EAGLE AND A BIRDIE. HITTING OUT OF THE ROUGH WAS BETTER THAN THE FAIRWAYS.
Improving course
Hostess at front desk was extremely nice and always with a big smile. Course has imp rived but still need work on cart paths. They appear to be trying to improve the greens, which still run true most of the time.
Fair course for the money
The course is dry and the greens are average. They are improving the course and in time should be a good deal for the cost. Pace of play can be good but was fair this round.
this course was good fun
I was able to get out right away. Teed off at 11:45 and finished 18 holes by 2:00. Course is recovering from a hot summer. With all things considered, it is in good shape
Like An Old Friend
I haven't played this course in over 6 years and always enjoyed it. The fairways are wide enough for the average player and there are some dog-legged holes which provide a challenge. A few of the greens were under repair and portions of the fairways are dried out., but California is in a drought. Overall great deal for the price.
Super friendly staff!
This course is very interesting and a pleasure to play! We travelled 50 miles because of past experiences at this course.
It is a great value and the staff couldn't be nicer.
My only complaint would be that the fairways are kind of rough for the carts to drive on- but that's a minor irritation.
All in all very pleasant and interesting
Cost
I'm a cheep golfer so the course was perfect.
Fun track but bad greens
Interesting fun course. Unfortunately the Greens were in poor shape due to the drought. 8 and 12 Greens were temps. If Greens were in good shape, course would have been very fun.
Always fun
Always enjoy playing Calimesa however this time the course was very dry. There were several greens under repair. I know the next time I play here within the next 30 days everything will be back in good condition.
