Great course HORRIBLE PACE OF PLAY
Love the course. Very challenging and fun. DO NOT attempt to play after 2pm. The course becomes packed with new players taking up the game for the first time. Pace of place and etiquette is not emphasized at all from the staff or pro shop. Literally stuck behind a group of 2 playing from one set of clubs. This group began "partaking" in some adult substances, which i have no problem with, but the pace really came to a complete hault then on. Played again the next day and almost was hit by 2 different tee shots from the same group, also brand new to golf, no four warning at all. Recommend playing on a weekday morning to have anything near an adequate experience at this course.
Greens are great
The course was in good condition on 2/28 but the greens were the stars of the show. They were very smooth and fast, I would estimate 10-11 on the Stimpmeter. Very few ball marks or other imperfections. Check it out!
Fun Course
Challenging fun course. Lots of features and small hills. Some creeks and rivers. Have to play smart. I reccomend playing here.
Weekend Pace of play is Awful
Played Cherry Island on Saturday. The pace of place was so painfully slow that we (2some) bailed after hole 13. Mind you, once we finished hole 13, we were over 5 hours! The Marshalls had notified us that there was a five-some and two foursomes ahead of us.
This is a nice course, but playing on the weekends will be incredibly difficult to develop/maintain any tempo. Had we stuck around, we would have likely been there almost 7 hours! I understand when playing on the weekend, pace of play usually lags, but seven hours is unreasonable. Won’t be back any time soon.
Mixed Bag
The greens were in very good condition, but the rest of the course was poor. There was a lot of mud (we haven't had rain for a week) and the fairways and tee boxes were not repaired as divot marks prevailed. The ball washers needed repair on most holes and the balls were muddy because of the course conditions.
Can't beat cheery for the price
Always get on for a decent price.. course always in good shape.. staff always friendly.. I play here 2 times a month minimum..
Players need golf etiquette
My tee time was 11:50(through GOLFNOW).
Play was so slow, every hole we have to wait.
I takes 2hr 40min to finish front 9. The reason of slow play was the in front of two teams play 6 players together.
At 15th hole, we have to wait for 15 mins until next team arrived. The team behind us was 4 players. They park their golf carts right behind of us.(They should keep distence until we finished our teeoff.) And they said we are Intercept and we are not the team infront of them. I told them we are not intercept and ask them their tee time.
They said their tee-time wa 11:56, So I tell them mine was 11:50. The rude next team said they play Cherry Island for 30 years and they never heard 11:50 tee-time.
So we ignore their complain and we keep play. I never experience this kind golf maners for my entire golf life.
Fun layout, winter conditions
Course was soft but expected. They need to rake leaves… borderline impossible to find your ball if you’re not in the fairway.
Great value at $30 - $35
An actual good value. Not a cheap course, a good value. Fairways are thick and even, tee boxes are maintained nicely. Greens roll consistently but it does get busy and I've seen some wear on them. Actually a pretty nice putting area multiple greens for chipping. GRASS DRIVING RANGE. Great spot for a casual round.
