Don’t play here
I had expected the course to be terrible shape from the other reviews. It wasn’t terrible, but it wasn’t good either. And there were a few cart path only holes which really slows down play. Some of the greens were ridiculous too. I would not play here until it’s fixed up.
Just not what it was
I played here for the first time in 2015. Excellent course in the burbs. Now, in 2024, I'm afraid this will be my last time playing. Course has deteriorated so much that it isn't worth the money anymore.
Still not there
Pace of play here is horrendous. Marshall/ambassadors are useless. This could be a great time except for the lack of pace of play
Greens are excellent. Fairways are respectable
Good price for a good round
This is a excellent place to save on green fees. The course layout is mostly flat with a couple of uphill tee shots. It is not long, but the fairways can give a challenge with approach shots if you do not get the ball out there. Greens are challenging because of various slopes. Overall, because of good pricing and reasonable fairway and green maintenance, this is a good place to play a round of golf.
First one in 2024
Good to out on Golf Course
Player better than I thought would be and had great companions. It is hard to get tee time here.
Wish course was more managed better.
Due to rain there’s lot of grass grown so much that you could lose the ball easily
Green conditions were good as usual.
Wish I could play more often.
Rough conditions after saturating rains
After a week of dry weather I was hoping for better conditions but there were areas of standing water and places where one’s ball could plug. Construction on a few holes. But I’m most critical of the overly contoured greens. They roll fast and true but the contours make it almost a miniature golf-like experience on the greens. The staff was great and I still had a good time golfing with my son.
decent course
Course was decent and much greener than the last time I played it. Hole locations were on side hills which made putting very challenging, but all in all a decent course.
Great value
Some of the areas on the course could use some work but all in all the course was great shape. The day I played the greens and fairways were green and plush. Some of the tee boxes were under repair but for all the par 3 tee boxes were in good shape which is what counts.
Slow and go.
The pace of play is *awful*. I think they’re repairing some of the course and finally putting some effort in to fixing it which is nice, because the layout and design really isn’t bad at all. For an Irvine golf course you’d think this place would be better taken care of and they might have a Marshall but it’s really just like other $25 dollar courses. Poor course management, 6 hour rounds and stacked tee times. The only difference is it costs upwards of 100 dollars to play here.
I will add that the staff is super nice and helpful, that has to be said because the guys they got working here are top notch.
Trying to get better
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Been coming here for 7 years now and they are trying to improve the course. The greens roll true and are fairly quick. The green side bunkers are awful. No shallow sand hinders traditional bunker play
Cannot figure out why this course is always a quagmire. There has been no rain the preceding week yet the couse is a muddy mess in places
OK for the money. Pace of play is reasonable
NEEDS MARSHALL BADLY
Had a noon tee time on a Sunday. The course conditions have gotten a lot better since a couple months ago within occasional part of the course that could use some tender loving care. However, there were at least five holes that I counted where there were at least three groups. Deep waiting to play a hole. By the time our group got to the 18th hole, the cart was reading that we were 45 minutes behind pace. Although it was a bargain compared to some other nearby courses, it would be wise to play at another course until rancho San Joaquin can get this figured out.
