Not worth regular tee cost!!
Suppose to be a $100.00 course but no way. I played at discount cost at $60.00 but still not worth it. They must make improvement on all aspect of course. It 's poorly maintained.
Malibu for $50 - great deal!
Played yesterday on the course and it was still the same great course it's been for the 15 years I've played it. Still no driving range - just hitting off mats into nets and the cart paths are getting more broken up, but the course was in great shape, the greens were their normally dangerous speed, and there seemed to be no one on the course. It was great. For $50 it was a great deal - when it's $100, maybe not so much. i would rather play Malibu at $50 then other courses in LA - the county and city courses.
Marshall, Water
Course pretty. Kept on pace but could have been faster. Group ahead of us was kids taking multiple shots, didn't keep up with group ahead of them. Never saw marshall. Played on a very hot day and no water at restrooms and water jugs on course were empty.
Shotmakers course
Accuracy rewarded. Use the cart's GPS tips. You'll want to play this course more than once. Early tee times avoid heat and crowds. No range only nets for warm up.
Restaurant bar not open when we played. Snack shop open one morning not the next until later, think they had some staffing problems. Friendly fun place. FYI cart paths are FUBAR be careful.
OK track
Everything was cool except the rude pregnant server/bartender and her rude manager. Worst service I have ever experienced in my life. Nothing worst than starting your golf round upset.
Poor shape course
I can't believe that $100.00 gets you golf on a piece of junk course like Malibu. It used to be a nice place to play. Not maintained at all, carts terrible, Paths broken up.. Greens slower and fuzzy than I ever saw in So Cal.. I will play other places rather than this dump
This an original design that is a classic. Well worth the time and effort to get on the course.
Car paths are a minor problem. The ground is so sloping that it must be hard to maintain them. The course is poorly marked. There are no yardage markers on the tee boxes and no 100 yard markers anywhere. Making things worse, the gps system on the carts was out of order with no plans to activate. Even worse, the flags are all white and the golfer had no idea the yardage to greens that were uphill.
This is still a great place. there are no roads, cars, houses, nothing once you start out on the course. We saw deer and quail. I loved it.
Lift your game Malibu
Malibu is a good course. I love playing there. The only problem is you don't know whether your cart will see you through all the way to the 18th. Out of the last 4 times I've played there, I've had issues with the cart 4 times. I have no idea who would pay full price for a round and continue to put up with this non sense. Does Malibu have any members left? Cause surely they are putting up with this too...
When you talk to the staff (or call during your round) it's a very sincere sorry... what else can they do????
DO BETTER MALIBU it's a total embarrassment
Those carts need to be replaced.
Great course, beautiful but a bit pricey.
Malibu is beautiful. The course is full of lush fairways and greens. The tee boxes were all in excellent shape. It's not the hardest course in the world, but certainly poses some challenges to the amateur golfer.
The cart paths need MAJOR ATTENTION. I can't believe that anywhere would let their "roads" fall in to such disrepair. It's quite astonishing juxtaposed against the beauty of the course itself.
The only other con to this place (and it may be entirely limited to Tuesday mornings - not sure) is there were maintenance workers on the fairways and greens of EVERY hole. They were driving their carts, and watering the fairways at 9am! It was incredibly distracting, and I felt that every time I teed off I was going to end up in a lawsuit for someones head injury.
Overall it was a great place to play. If they can fix those two issues I'd say it's worth the $50 I paid through Golf Now. I don't think I'd ever pay more than that. But I'll definitely be coming back!
Challenging course for good discounted HOT DEAL price
The course was challenging and well maintained, and POP was just about 4 hours. It was a good deal for the HOT Deal Price.
mr toads wild ride
This course can get away with a lot because the word "Malibu" is in its title. Not even worth the golf now hot deal price let alone the regular green fee. Spending money on a clubhouse is all well and good but when the cart paths are so pot holed that your drinks fly out and your kidneys are jumping, its really a joke. this course needs an overhaul. Pass....
FIrst time, nice time
Played nine with daughter late afternoon. Hot day. Course in good condition, nice fairways, tee boxes good shape though a couple could have been flatter. Greens a bit slow, but typical for public course. Maintenance complaint were bunkers/traps, little sand, nearly dirt like. Beautiful course, challenging, but playable.
Beautiful course, nicely laid out.
I went out as a single very early and finished in less than 3 hours. I heard it was a tight course (target golf), but it really isn't. There is definitely room to miss without losing your ball when you do (I tried that numerous times ... actually, I didn't really try, but I missed a fairway or two ... O.K., O.K. - I missed a lot of fairways, but lost only one ball). Greens were fair. I had one of my best rounds in a while (77).
Was good.
Course was good for challenge ,but maintenance is not that good.
Stunning location
The course is situated in the Malibu Hills with incredible views and pleasant breezes.
There is an air of peacefulness and quiet that offers a complete getaway from the hectic city bustle
Great Views, great variety between holes such that no hole feels similar to any other hole on the course.
The setting and course layout provides a variety of challenges that make this a great day for any golf enthusiast. They have adopted a "links style" maintenance between fairways.....so, expect to see a bit more rough than in years past.
Get the cup of chili at the snackshop!
There are very few straight putts on the greens....prepare your putts wisely
Fun course
Nice fairways and greens friendly staff cart paths need some attention.
Very scenic & well maintained course
Great course for the price. Might be too stiff for regular price of $100.
Be Below the Hole...
Greens can be SUPER FAST if you're on the wrong side of the flag stick! Be advised: "EVERYTHING PULLS TOWARD THE OCEAN". They just aerated the fairways, they're not too bad and i'm sure will be in "plush" shape come late spring/early summer. The 19th hole is excellent, girls are 'hot' and the food is great, "have at it"!
The greens can use a little TLC but for the most part are in pretty 'decent' shape and you can 'attack' the flag! We were taking our sweet time looking for (errant) balls otherwise we would've been finished somewhere right around 3-3:1/4hrs,...no kidding!
The carts' GPS are "spot-on" and you can rely on them, unequivocally. Just wish there were more tee-times made available from GolfNow, our group would DEFINITELY play it more often.... "Be Below the Hole"!
Super layout with challenging greens. Very enjoyable.
Beautiful setting! Very well maintained and yet pretty quite. No driving range but warm up cage with mats and free balls already in place. Good putting green. Rating and Slope accurate mostly because of the greens. Undulating, fast, difficult to read but still very fun. I'm a 9-10 handicap and really enjoyed playing from the white tees. Fairways in great shape leaving you with an excellent approach shot if you're driving well. The GPS in the cart works very well and includes a tip on every hole to help you with your strategy. Get that putter out the week before or plan on a lot of three putts! Highly recommended course.
