The Links at Everline
About
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr., the Everline Resort & Spa is a delight not only for its great golf, but for its history and scenic qualities, as well. In fact, the Audubon Society has certified the Everline Resort & Spa as a Cooperative Sanctuary due to its commitment toward natural greens-keeping methods.
Nestled in a scenic valley with protected wetlands, the Everline Resort & Spa gives golfers an outstanding day on the links, combining challenging play with awe-inspiring scenery. Forced carries and tight fairways put accuracy at a premium at this course, which holds a mind-boggling slope rating of 146 from the back tees.
For golf travelers looking to make Squaw Valley their home base, the golf action will not disappoint, and the resort has four outstanding restaurants, as well as all the amenities any golf traveler should expect from this legendary golf destination that was a host to the 1960 Summer Olympics.

Course in only fair conditions due to winter weather problems
Course in fair shape due to winter weather problems, many sandy areas on tee boxes, greens, & fairways.
Lumpy conditions on greens should have 2 stroke putting limit.
Course conditions better than easier Northstar Resort which I play a few days ago (only front 9 open). Northstar probably should not have open this season due to their continuing problems with poor grass conditions.
No the business
Staff and mountain surrounds are great. Not busy and pace of play was great but the course condition was terrible. Fairway either overgrown and unkempt or overwatered and soggy. Greens are fuzzy where grass is present or have more sand than grass. It looks like they are letting the course go to build houses on it the next year. It’s a great background with a terrible course. Not worth the discounted $85 but maybe if they posted a $40-50 round you could justify the beautiful surroundings.
Squaw 6/2021
We left after 9 holes due to slow play and poor course conditions. I understand it’s been a difficult year and I am willing to be understanding of the course conditions. However, the pace of play was absolutely intolerable. The staff gave us some of our money back, but we were very disappointed with our overall experience.
Not worth 85 bucks.
Staff were amazing however course was in horrible condition and was not made aware until after paying green fees. Not worth 85 bucks
Opening day
It was opening day, the course was a little rough due to the recent weather and damage to the course from the winter. Very difficult course, makes a par feel like a birdie on many of the holes. Majestic grandeur of the mountains is breathtaking. Really looking forward to playing once the repairs and maintenance has been done. So much potential!
Good layout
Some construction took some off the enjoyment. Course was in good shape generally.
Still underrated
This was my second time playing here, and my first was about a month ago. I had originally come to play with low expectations since so many reviews were negative. I was very happy to find that the course was much better than the reviews would lead you to believe. This time playing here was even better than the first time. I will concede that some tee boxes were a little rough, and some fairways were slightly patchy, but otherwise, the course was in great condition. I had a twilight time as a single, and blew through the course in 3 hours, even waiting on a few groups on a number of holes. I highly recommend this course, although be prepared to use all the clubs in your bag except your driver. Fairways are tight, and the links style really kicks your butt if you don't humble yourself. You have to lay up and be smart rather than hit long, and that makes for an interesting round. The setting in Olympic Valley at the foot of Squaw's ski peaks really makes for a beautiful backdrop.
Worth Playing
First time playing this course, glad I did. The course was in great shape except the sand traps, that is par for the course ( no pun intended). This course doesn’t require you to hit mammoth drives, just hit it straight and keep it on the fairways. There are a few forced carries, over water and protected areas, keeps you on your toes. I hit some great shots but didn’t score well, putting did me in. The pin placements were tough and the greens were fast, but were fair. I also might mention the scenery, beautiful, bring your camera. One more thing to mention, the 17th is a shorter par 4 due to some construction,. They didn’t mention this in their Webb site, not a big deal, just something to be aware of. A little course knowledge goes a long way next time around.
Not worth the drive
We had read the reviews, and decided to drive up from South Lake Tahoe. We were treated very indifferently by the pro shop staff, andwhen we asked for a handicap flag we were told they didn't have any. When we arrived at the first tee we saw that they were definitely in need of some TLC. While the scenery is beautiful, that doesn't make up for the state of the course. Fairways had dead spots and greens were spotty. Probably most disappointing were the several holes with long forced carries over what would be swamp areas during the spring. You travelled over these wet areas by wooden trails that were sadly in need of repair. Unfortunately these bridges made up almost half of the cart paths, causing for a bouncing, noisy ride. As my wife said, this was a once in a life experience.....because we would never go back with the course in the condition it is.
Tough course
I appreciate a tough course, but this one had too many forced carries, ongoing construction and repair issues and worn-out timber bridges. And also, $40 to park for a round? Too much!
Some rough edges but worth a round
I’d play again at a GN Hot Rate. Lots of variety in the holes, elevation changes, bunkering, and greens. Patchy tees and fairways here and there but compensated for by the views and uniqueness of the course. Friendly and helpful staff as well.
More than we expected
Beautiful course very tough lots of work being done on and around the course. The price a little high unfortunately there are fires all over California and Nevada and we spent the day in the most beautiful valley in the world and couldn’t see it way too much smoke.
Other than that, a good time was had by all. Thank you Golf PASS plus!
Underrated!!!
I can't speak to previous reviews, they must have been written when the course was in bad shape. I was lucky and played the course when it was in great shape! I came expecting poor cheap muni course conditions and was extremely pleased to find that the tee boxes were in fine condition, greens were fast and true, and overall the course was playing really nicely (aside from my golf game). There was some construction/maintenance work being done on some of the holes, but that didn't bother us or make any difference really except that one hole's tee box was moved up to the reds. Otherwise no complaints whatsoever. I highly recommend this course, especially for those currently in form and/or wanting a test of your accuracy.
Course is super tight, and although staff will tell you to ignore your driver, if you hit your driver 250 yds or less, you can use it on quite a number of holes. There are lots of forced carries, but as long as you stay disciplined and don't go for the long shot every time, you'll be fine.
Loved the links feel, great conditions despite covid, and would love to go back.
Mr Golf
Unlike some people comment the course is in great condition. Yes there’s some small construction going on right now so it’s not perfect. It’s a challenging course and of course you will be punished by OB a a lot. The layout is great fun, reminds me of Spanish bay. Definitely worth it and come back. Pro shop is great. Suggest to stay in the resort to benefit from better rate and perhaps ask for the replay. It’s a little super cold in the morning but temperature climb up very quickly.
Enjoy the deli in the shopping area.
Great course
very challenging, amazing staffs
Lovely Setting
A challenging links style course in the valley surrounded by mountains. The scenery was fantastic. The course was a unique links style course that we rarely get to play in the US. I’ve seen some complaints about the condition of the grass on the course and I didn’t find it any different than many other courses that have the challenge of a long winter and a high altitude environment. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and would return in a second.
Lake Tahoe Player
It is a fun course with a good layout that makes you think a bit. It's not always grip it and rip it. If they would put more of an effort in tee and green condition I would give this course a higher rating. Some of the holes are adjacent to the ski hill and that makes it tough to have excellent conditions on every hole, but even those away from the ski hill need some attention for this price.
