Just a little wet!
Was a nice track, cart only due to amount of rain this February. Overall I enjoyed the round!
Rained out !
Would have been nice to know course fairway s where flooded.out ! Before I payed green fee
Whitney oaks
I gave the course condition a 4 only because it had been raining a lot and it was cart path only, lots of soggy wet areas in the fairway, this is an assume golf course and the staff is first class
Challenge expected
Course is very challenging. Many holes are target golf. So you better bring your “A” game or a lot of extra balls. Greens are fast and tricky but very do-able. Practice putting green is pretty much what you’re going to get on the course.
Lack of Maintenance Obvious
I've played this course many times, but this is my first review. This is a very tight course, and any above a 15 should bring several sleeves of balls (think a case). Good shots can end up running through the hard-pan fairways into protected wetlands (can't play out of them or retrieve your ball), and every hole has a hazard of some kind off the tee. Fairway lies vary, but most are tight lies requiring solid ball striking (especially in the winter). Greens in really good shape, but collars and chipping areas in poor condition (think about chipping off hard pan, muddy thin lies, or crabgrass). If you don't hit your tee shots very straight, you will not likely want to come back. Course layout is fun for higher level players, but again, very difficult. No bailout on most holes, and a bad swing will cost you dearly. Staff is great, especially the bar staff. Has a fun bar to have a few after your round with views of the course, but food is just bar quality food. They are under new ownership, and they need to spend a lot of money on the course to make this a good value for anyone who doesn't live within a short drive. I wouldn't play it if I wasn't local. Not recommended for anyone above a 15 handicap unless you bring a full bag of balls and do not care about your score.
Whitney Oaks is in great shape
Whitney oaks is in great shape; from the Teebox to the Fairways to the greens to the sand traps - all well-maintained. That said it remains the toughest course in the Sacramento area. It is an excellent track with a variety of holes, but there is trouble on practically every hole and quite a few forced carries, etc.. despite the difficulty, really enjoy this course.
Absolutely incredible golf course
Golf course is bar none the most fun interesting challenging there well kept maintained and unbelievably people in very very very shot provoking. I'm playing it in the winter right now and it is amazing I cannot wait to get out here in the summertime and have some real fun this golf course is possibly my favorite I've played in California and I've played a lot of them I can't say enough for this course it's absolutely phenomenal and I don't review that many courses of all the courses I've played I've only done maybe six or seven reviews and this golf course deserves five stars fantastic time
No What Expected
Fairways were not in very good shape. Course is very hilly with limited flat lies. Probably will not play this course again.
Great conditions for the time of year
Playing in the winter, you expect the course to be a bit rough and wet. The conditions were fantastic, no wet spots, allowed to drive in the fairways. Great conditions!
Challenging
Love this course with all the different holes. It was like we were the only ones on the course

Great Course, Very Slow Play
I always enjoy playing Whitney Oaks, no matter how poorly I am playing (or balls I lose).
Unfortunately, this round was hindered by extremely slow play. What is usually a 4 to 4.5 hour round was extended to about 5 hours and 30 minutes.
Of course, I will definitely return to Whitney Oaks, but I am hopeful the next time the pace is so slow, a course marshal will step in and encourage quicker play.
We apologize for the slow pace of play during your round at Whitney Oaks Golf Course. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, and we appreciate your continued support and feedback.
Nice course, slow play
I’ve played here several times and enjoy the course layout. It’s challenging and forces you to think your way around each hole. Unfortunately, the pace of play was dreadful. Starting around the 3rd hole there were 2-3 foursomes waiting on each tee box. By the time we finished 9 holes, about 2 hours and 45 minutes later, I decided to call it a day because it’s just not enjoyable playing that slow. Not a good way to spend $75. I wasn’t the only one either. I saw a few others in the parking lot doing the same thing, guys I was chatting with from other groups that I met while we were waiting on every hole. Whitney Oaks staff needs to do a better job keeping things moving along on the course. I never once saw a Marshall out there either.
We appreciate your feedback regarding the enjoyable layout of our golf course, Johnnie. We sincerely apologize for the slow pace of play you experienced during your visit. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we will address the issue with our staff to ensure a better experience for future golfers. Thanks for choosing Whitney Oaks Golf Club.
Slow play
It’s a good course but 3 hours to play 9 holes is unacceptable. Avoid weekends
