Very busy and poor conditions
my son and I played the day after Thanksgiving. I expected the course to have a full tee sheet, but it was worse than that - not only did we tee off late but we joined a threesome. every group in front and behind us was also a fivesome. needless to say, it was a slow round, probably 5 hours.
except for the greens, the course was in poor shape - hacked up tees, thin fairways that were almost dirt in some places. with that many people playing, I would think the course generates a decent revenue. But it's obvious that LA County Dept of Parks does not put any money back into the course.
Really 5 1/2 hrs pace of play.
Not worth the price, course should not allow 5-sums if pace of play is over 5 hours. No Marshall to say anything. Not playing here again anytime soon.
Enjoyable course
Wide fairways in good condition, rough is rough. Greens are firm and hard to hold but in good condition. Nice place to play
Worse than Westchester GC (Same parent Co.)
Pace was legitimately 6 hours. Left after 13 holes in over 4.5 hours. Grass is more patchy and diseased than Westchester, Greens absolutely beat like they went 12 rounds with Mike Tyson.
Rude patrons, from the first tee people tried to jump ahead at tee box, thankfully the starter came out of the proshop to regulate. Proshop guys are all great, this review does not reflect them in the least bit. Do your research, only reason to play here is if you are absolutely desperate. Other than that, save your money, time, sanity, etc.
Nice course
We've played here many times over the last 10 years. For a while there it was really getting run down, but things have improved. Pace is usually good. I wish they would stress to golfers to fix their divets, every green had dougle digit unfixed divots. We usually play after 12, but for some reason the cafeteria is always closed by the time we get done?
Good local course
Conditions at Whittier narrows have improved. Greens and bunkers have always been good, fairways and tee boxes are where improvement could be made. Good local course.
Worth the money
For the online rate of $19 this is one of the best courses around. You can’t beat 18 holes on a Thursday for $19. Everywhere else is charging 40 and 50 for the same thing. And pace of play has been excellent. Finished 18 with a group of 4 in 3 hours 45 minutes.
No, it is not LA county fault. It is the management company that they hire didn't do their job right. That management company is call American Golf Cooperation.
