Go Play LPGA! Photo submitted by oakleyduff on 06/26/2013
For first guests.
Too wet fairway. Still wet a fairway after 48 hours rain
The name needs dark to find course name in score card. I missed up my game with a wrong name.
Need Ranger has to guide guests to the first tee.
A fun challenge
The Hills course is one of the best challenges in the area! Course is in great shape. There is construction nearby on several holes. Traps could use some better drainage.
Cart paths only
A storm with heavy rains passed thru the area the previous day. Course was very wet and carts allowed on paths only. Overall experience was average but better than not playing. Also disappointed in the amount of development going on. The hills course is no longer a track thru the woods!
Good golf course
I played at the hills golf course. Due to major construction around the course. I encountered lots of mosquitoes while playing. The grass was also very wet.
Overall, I was satisfied with the price.
Terrible Experience
I booked a twosome on the Jones course for a 9:37am Tee Time on a Friday with my father in law.
We arrived to the tee box on schedule but were somewhat confused as there were about 10 carts lined up waiting to tee off. We were greeted by a non employee who asked us what time we were playing. I told him 9:37 on Jones and he said I was wrong and the clubhouse made a mistake. He claimed to have that course booked up for multiple tee times up to 9:50. There was no Starter or LPGA employee to be found. So I thought maybe he was right and I accidently went to the wrong course. Upon checking my email and receipt, I wasn't wrong. We clearly had that tee time booked on the Jones course.
So still not seeing any employees or starters we went over to the Hills course where again, no employees or Starter to be found. We rushed and sandwiched in between 2 groups and teed off (on the wrong course).
I went to open the scorecard on hole 2 after we completed hole 1 to see the card have a note in a big red sharpie saying "DO NOT USE CART, BAD PLUG". Sure enough, halfway up the 2nd fairway the cart is sputtering out. I had to call the clubhouse and have them send me a new cart. The new cart didn't have GPS like the other cart.
On about hold 7 the "Ranger" came by and asked our cart number and group name. We told him the situation and he was pleased that we just went to the other course. He said he's the starter and ranger for both courses. (no wonder we didn't see any starter on either course). He also said that the group on the first course are members and they tend to run the show. He could tell we were a bit rattled and tried to make the best of it. He threw the facility under the bus and told us that they only pay him minimum wage and he just takes crap all day from disgruntled golfers because he's the only one out there.
Pretty much the worst experience I've ever had trying to settle into a round of golf. We completed 18 and tried to make the best of it, but it's pretty impossible to focus on your shots and enjoy the moment when you are unrightfully kicked off the course you are supposed to play and given a cart that clearly had issues.
In terms of the course. It wasn't great. The greens rolled true (as they recently re-did them), but they were extremely hard and balls were not staying at all. I had multiple approach shots that landed center of the green and rolled all the way off. Everything outside of the green was VERY WET and every single ball I hit was covered in mud. Hard greens and muddy/wet everything else made it nearly impossible to score well here. Most of the greens were very small, elevated, and protected by sand or grass bunkers so no chance at a bump and run. You pretty much had to bounce your ball off the center of the green and hope it didn't roll too far. Quite a few gimmicky dog leg holes.
There was noisy housing construction all over the areas surrounding the course making it much less of an enjoyable experience.
I told the guy in the pro shop about our debacle tying to start the round. He shook is head, apologized, and gave us a 50% refund / raincheck.
The only other time I played here was in August of 2023 and we played the Jones course. The Jones course was a way better golf course IMO and had some solid links style features. Only problem was there was 0 water on the course and the cart girl didn't come until we were on hole 17. It was probably one of the hottest days of the year. When we were leaving, the group ahead of us was complaining about the water situation. We heard the manager or whoever was in charge reaming his employees over the walkie talkie saying "I DONT KNOW HOW MANY TIMES I"VE TOLD YOU TO FILL UP THE WATER COOLERS". As a final note, the people at the bag drop are not very friendly as I'm sure they all know how the facility is run and dread coming to work every day.
OVERALL - this is proven to be an extremely poorly run facility. Pretty much a disgrace to have the LPGA name.
Only reason I'll go back is because I now have a rain check for $110. I'm sure strike 3 is coming soon.
I'd recommend hitting PGA Village in Port St Lucie for an actual nice experience that is worth the cost of admission.
Great Course
Really good course. Greens very fast on this day.
Great Course
A cool windy day, but the course is in great shape. Greens are very firm. And fast today.
Greens are tough to hold
I enjoyed the course. First time playing. Definitely a challenge for an average golfer. No matter how high you put the ball everything rolls off the greens. Better to run it up there if you can.
Great first time playing there
Courses in excellent condition. The only downside was that they were way too crowded and had to wait past our teatime for a cart. Otherwise, the course was very playable and had a great time out. There will be back again.
Urbanization compromising its essence
For those of us lucky enough to have played the course before new construction began, seeing all the new houses has really taken away some of its original essence.. The Hills course “remote” feel used to make this course if not the most best one of the best courses in the area. Still a great track with well kept fairways and greens. Highly recommended.
Greens perfect..course a little wet.Im a 4 hndcp..tough track. I’d like to play it again when dry.Hope all new homes being built around course doesn’t affect drainage.
Great course
The greens still had a little sand on them but otherwise the course is in excellent condition.
