Bonaventure Golf Club
Bonaventure Golf Club (formerly known as Bonaventure Country Club) is a classic Florida layout with holes routed through strands of mature palms and hardwoods, and around numerous water hazards and expansive bunkers. This course, designed by Joe Lee, is also called the Green Monster. Some people call it the Cascade Course because of the waterfall on the picturesque 160-yard, par-3 third. This signature hole has a waterfall that stretches across the front of the green.

This was the first time I played the course. I must say I rally enjoyed my round. The pace of play was reasonable (we were a foursome) and the course is in good condition. The greens are very fast and difficult, the rest of the course is fairly challenging due to so much water.
.Should not take over 5 hours to play a course
The pace was very, very slow. Noted one group had 6 players. Players wait. Til greens are cleared before teeing off which makes it even slower. We quit after14th hole as it would take another hour or more to finish. There was no one to encourage players to keep up with the pace. Certainly did not get our monies worth . Waited over 20 mins at times to tee off.
Course was better then most— greens very quick and T Boxes just ok. BUT the pace of play was horrible—- they left a 6 some — yes 6 players!!! T off st 1:00 which held up everybody. We T off at 1:30 and left after 14 at 5:30– every hole we passed had 4 to 6 players and none of them would T off until the group ahead were on the green— saw the “ course host” twice and both times he jokingly said “ hope your not in a hurry “
Slow Play Saturday
A very welcoming place with very friendly staff. The course itself is in good condition. Our 10:45 start time turned into a slow round. We finished at 3:30. Ball washer posts are in need of immediate repair as rusted jagged metal protrudes from their base at ankle level.
No Marshall and hateful tee off box
We waited every single hole! We obviously did not see a Marshall to accelerate or complain about pace of play.
Some greens are bumpy.
Almost all tee off box are not straight.
Bonaventure - you saw me for the last time!
Bonaventure is a terrific golf course: lots of variety of golf challenges, good course conditions, and plenty of fun. The two holes I found most interesting were the 5th and the 18th.; both are par 4's with many golf options because of water in front of the greens. The 5th is my favorite because it is short in distance but the long on choices.
This course is a great course if you want a challenge. Water all over the course which means you have to place the ball to stay out of the hazards.
I would play this any day of the week.
