A good way to spend the afternoon
I enjoyed my round at the Reserve at Orange Lake. The layout is excellent with a wide variety of holes. The course always seems to be in great shape and well maintained. Will definitely play it again.
Water, water everywhere
Nice course with a really nice layout and lots of water to stay away from - nice, fast greens too !
Close to Kissimmee, but not ideal.
Houses everywhere. It would be nice to clean up the garbage on some holes.
Bring a map and a compass
A very difficult course to find your way around. It is located in Orange Lake Resort. Once you get inside the resort, there are no signs which show you where the Reserve course is located. Once you finally find it in a building entitled "Marketplace", you then have to find your way 100 yards past a number of buildings and condos, with signage at a minimum, to get to first tee . You are given no course map, and no layout of each hole on the scorecard. It gets worse. There was a card on the overhead dash showing pin placements. However, the ACTUAL pin placements have no relation to what is shown on the card. When I questioned the starter about this at the turn, he said: "Well, maintenance puts the pins wherever they want to." WHAT!!! It paid $51 for this round and they can't even get the pins in the right places on the greens! Because there's a lot of hidden traps, lakes, ditches, etc..., it's pretty hard to know where to hit the ball unless you play there a lot since you have no course layout. Also, the course is surrounded by timeshare condos, many of which are too close to the course.
Spend your $50 at a better course.
This is a nice course, some challenging hole, but pace of play is usually way too slow.
Played as a single due to weather issues so pace of play was good, early am, course looked pretty crowded later, the legends course is much better but staff is nonexistent at both. This is a difficult course to find and check in, seems like these 2 courses at orange lake were run by junior golfers
Orange Lake
Very fair course. Nice layout. Starter friendly and helpful. Range balls a bit of a problem, but worked it out. Would definitely play again.
Sad
My family and I come here every year but it’s gotten worse and worse. The staff is friendly, but the starter was too lazy to pair twosomes together properly which caused major slowdowns on the course. Then there were several 5somes which made it worse. I called the pro shop. The first call was answered by a young lady who said she was only setting teeX then hung up on me as I requested a ranger. The second call was answered by the pro shop who said he’d come out to observe the issue, but he never did. 5 1/2 hour round! We’ll never go back. Course was in average shape, greens were quality!
Played at 7:09 and our twosome flew through the thing. Course was good, not great. Very playable, with some challenges. Greens in the front had some rough spots, but mostly good. Fun round with my brother in law, but I'm glad we went out early, as pace of play looked to be sitting dramatically.
A Good Test of Your Game
Fairly tight, well turfed fairways with bunkers and water strategically placed for a good risk/reward dynamic from the tees. Fast, multi-tiered greens coupled with diabolical pin placements made putting a game within itself. Pars here are celebrated for the average golfer while birdies are a ‘thing to behold’. The Market Place offers plenty to start your round but a 19th Hole would be a nice finish to debate what could have been on your card over a beer. The staff is cordial, accommodating and educated in the choreography of getting golfers to the first tee on time. Can’t wait to get back to avenge the 5 Putt “10” I took on 16 over the water!
Improved in last few years
I played the course a few years ago and it wasn’t in great condition at the time, but overall conditions have improved all around the course. Was a little wet, but despite that I’m pretty good conditions. Greens were much improved from the last time I played, could still improve (can always be faster and firmer), but definitely less spots and ball marks then the last time I played. Pace was incredible (Didn’t wait on a tee once). Staff was friendly. Pizza after was very good. Overall was impressed with my experience. A couple of the holes are a little gimmicky, but nothing ridiculous. Well done, Orange lake!
BEST VALUE
SHOWED UP EARLY AND FINISHED MY ROUND IN 2 AND A HALF HOURS. GREENS AND FAIRWAYS EXCELLANT
Nice round of golf
Course was in good shape except for some greens had crabgrass on them. I was by myself so so pace of play was ok. I was behind a twosome who wanted me to stay behind them. The only negative was a maintenance worker was behind me the whole back nine. He was overseeing the fringe around the greens. It was like he was in a hurry. It would have been nice no to be pushed since I couldn't move any faster.
A good challenge
HittIng a lot over water makes this course challenging for the average golfer. The greens are a bit bumpy. Lots of distance between tee boxes, so golfing walkingnot really an option. Doesn’t have a decent halfway house to get a a drink or bite to eat, and is not anywhere near the 10th hole. Also doesn’t take cash to make a purchase.
What a shame
The Reserve at Orange Lake Resort, Kissimmee, FL. It is featured as a premium golf facility at a premium price. But since Brown has taken over the place has gone downhill. Crabgrass is taking over the greens, poor drainage areas have not been addressed, and bottles and cans litter the swamp under the bridge between holes 2&3. Could be top-notch, but what an embarrassment. I won't be hosting my friends here anymore.
Wet and challenging
We had an 8:59 tee time. Started early at 8:34. Nobody in front of us. Done in four hours. Course was extremely wet and soggy. Front nine were some tight lanes off the tee. Bunkers were excellent, greens not so much - a bit lumpy. Overall we enjoyed the round
