Abita Springs Golf & Country Club
About
Abita Springs Golf Club in St. Tammany Parish is one of the area's best kept secrets. It offers one of the best golf values as well as a challenging round. The course sprawls across open, rolling hills dotted with natural water features. The layout will require the use of all the clubs in your bag with its narrow fairways and a variety of elevation changes that range from subtle to dramatic. Accuracy will come in handy as well when dealing with the sometimes-hidden water hazards but it's not an overly punishing layout for the high handicapper. The risk-reward nature of the golf course appeals to players of all skill levels. Locals who frequent the course point to the greens as Abita Springs' best feature, touting that they are comparable to those on higher-end courses.

Very nice
The course is well maintained and extremely challenging. Plus the beer Cart girl was hot
AKA Goat Ranch
Poor greens, large bare spots. Fairways had little to no grass.
Course was still pretty wet from more than usual rain in the area!!
Will be nice when grass/greens get started! Course was still pretty wet from more than usual rain!
Needs a lot of work.
I went out after a few days of rain, so I expected it to be wet, but it was extremely sloppy. Course is not draining well at all. Much of the course is in disrepair. For example, yardage markers are faded and haven't been repainted in years. Many of those had fallen over and hadn't been replaced. OB and hazard stakes/markers are cracked, broken, and the ropes on them are laying on the ground. Carts are a little beat up. Sand traps didn't drain either, and many of them had several inches of standing water (Hole 13 had red standing water in it???). Grass on the greens and fringe was pretty high, but it has rained a ton, so I can certainly understand them not being able to groom them. This used to be one of my favorite courses to play, but it needs a facelift and some serious elbow grease to be worth the drive right now.
Good Course
Drove from Baker, LA to play this course. It was worth the drive. Friendly staff. Could improve their range though but overall good course.
Abita Gem
Cold winter day warmed up by nice course conditions and holiday cheer. Course was in great shape considering all the rain which fell from the sky for two straight days. Staff was great and I would recommend this course to anyone.
greens were in good shape.
Pin placement could have been put in locations that allowed more of the green.
Driving range is not marked very well with yardage markers
Course is in excellent shape.
I have played this course about 6 times in the last 2 months and it is in remarkable shape. The greens are very challenging and they keep the fairways cut. The thing I would like to see is some ball washers on the course, most don't work but there are only a few throughout the course.
fun course
fun course, very nice practice greens and range, interesting layout, great hot dogs, super friendly people, great weather!
Nice Course
Nice Layout...1st time playing here. Nice layout, Lots of risk and reward offered.
I got one of those R1 drivers and thought I'd just go out cheap and try out the driver...Man was I impressed with this course...NO!... you are not at Money Hill or etc...But value for the money is there and more.
I had more fun with this course than tuning in my new driver. Lot's of holes that challenge you and if it pays off, you're stoked.
Yes the course is not in an Augusta like status...but for quick, cheap play with great staff you can't beat it.
The one down side I noticed and need to impart...Some of the members and regular guys try their best to make you feel not welcomed. After finishing 18, I understand...such a nice course for the money and they don't want a bunch of jerks taking advantage of the reasonable prices for this area.
So, if you play here....Don't be a jerk and play slow. This seems to be a Tee it Forward, While we are Young course. Respect that philosophy and you will love your round as much as I did.
This course is tough to beat for the golf now price.
Excellent value. Really good shape. Maintenance crew doing positive things.
The course was a little too wet in places.
The greens were in great condition, putts roll true with some tricky breaks. The area has seen some rain prior to visit but with the exception of two holes we were 90*. Staff friendly. Terrain is hilly with some elevation changes. Will play again and would recommend the course to friends.
better than average public course
Great course for the money if you are trying to keep your rounds under $40.00 on the weekends. Isolated location makes it feel like a one day vacation. Full practice area (chip/pitching green, putting green, driving range). Fairways C+, greens B-. Keep it straight, the woods are never far away.
Great bang for your buck
I enjoy the quietness of the country setting. the course plays long from the tips, not much sand to worry about, can be quite wet for days after a rain. greens are usually in nice shape.
Decent course
Good course for the money, I just wished the greens and fairways were in better condition.
Albita Springs Golf
Played with two very friendly sets of two-somes during the 18 holes on Good Friday. Play was fairly slow because of the holiday.
The fairways could use some work..may have been because of the time of the year. Greens were fairly quick but in pretty good condition.
Make sure you use your GPS and turn on the road suggested. Attempting to circle around will put you on gravel roads surrounding the area. Don't expect to eat when you get to the course. Although food is advertised, it is sandwiches and chips. This is definitely not a "country-club" atmosphere...just a bunch of good-ole boys playing golf. But I enjoyed the day.
I will likely try the course again when I need a break and decide to take a day trip.
