Bayou Oaks City Park North Course
About
Golf has been played at City Park since 1902 when the nine-hole New Orleans Golf Club opened. At the time it was one of only 80 golf courses in the country. There were four 18-hole courses at the complex before it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The North Course was rebuilt in 2009 and now there is also a 36-hole mini-golf complex. The course is just over 5,400 yards from the back tees and features water on eight holes. Proper club selection is the key to scoring well on this layout. The golf course is popular among both locals and visitors because it's not only player friendly enough to accommodate all skill levels but its location is also easily accessible from anywhere in New Orleans. The affordable rates make it even more appealing and there's also a 74-stall driving range.

Golf Advisor: Top 25 Most Improved U.S. Golf Courses (2021 #23)
Reviews
Greens were somewhat inconsistent …greens were slower than I like.. fairways needed mowed… sand traps were great.. great value overall
Good value track
Great value for a public course. Don’t expect too many challenging holes or ones that test your length off the tee. Not many hazards so it’s great for the beginner or the casual golfer. They have water coolers in the course that are always filled and a food and beverage cart that drives on the course.
The greens could be kept up better, but I’d say they are average for a heavily used public course.
Grass maintenance
I truly love this course but I wish the they would take more care of the grass. It was a struggle finding my ball in the rough because it was too high. The green is in terrible condition. But the views you get is still worth playing. Would definitely come back. Just wish they would maintain it more.
Practice Course
Practice course. Prominent designer. Shame there is no pride on the North course
Sad, Sad Condition
I have played this course many times over many years, but the lack of maintenance and just general care for the simplest aspects of the golf experience is appalling. Tee boxes are mud pits, sand traps have almost no sand and plastic tarps showing beneath. Greens have dead spots everywhere. With the South course right next door, you would think the groundskeepers would cross the street once in a while to do something on the north course. The starter did not even attempt to make foursomes, so the pace of play was terrible as well.
Luckily we played very little to play, so I guess we got out money's worth. Very sad...
Fun course
You can easily have your best game on this course, fairways were better than advertised and the pace of play was fast. Greens still need a little bit fixing but other than that I had a great time and easily had my best game I ever had
If you MUST play this place is ok
Tee times are too tight. Too many foursomes that can't play taking 3 hours to get through 9 holes. No beverage carts on the course.
Greens and tee boxes are in terrible shape.
NORTH was in horrible shape
Greens were shaggy to say the least and barren in most parts. Hole 2 had a temporary green which wast revealed until I played it. Fairways were just ok. Rough had not been cut and I lost to balls due to this issue. For the price it was cheap but the course conditions were atrocious.
North Course UnPlayable
The grass in the fairways has not been cut in a very long time. The course is unplayable and the greens are an absolute mess. Don't waste your time and money on this course...
Every other course is better
The greens have cancer so putting is pointless. The tee boxes are uneven and uncut. Since the South course is such a nice course and it's the only driving range worth going to in the New Orleans area the course is always packed even though it's an absolutely horrible course. Every other course that you can find on this site is better and the majority of them are cheaper. If you have the extra money play the South course it's nice but overpriced.
